There is so much to take. The choreography, instruments, costumes, the artistic background, effects, metaphors, and of course our gorgeous boys. I usually watch the MV first without the subtitles and then replay the MV with the subtitles. Check out "Black Swan MV Meaning Explained" and the "Black Swan MV Shooting".

This song is a masterpiece. It's a true audio and visual masterpiece. So sad this song dropped during the pandemic. It never got It's due appreciation.

The whole MOTS:7 album was robbed by pandemic. Black Swan should have won a Grammy all in its own, but the album deserved multiple nominations. MOTS:7 was an absolute masterpiece of an album made of several mini masterpiece songs.

Put simply, this song is about an artist's first death, when he loses passion for his art. Which according to BTS is their biggest fear. Love this song!

This song MV and any performance they do of it is always just mesmorizing!! This MV showcases Jimins dancing in such an amazing way. Jimin is just a phenomenal modern contemporary dancer!!! His power and control is beautiful to watch as he makes it look so damn effortless when it's anything but!

What you missed, and you should have missed it, is that the album series, Map of the Soul, is about Carl Jung’s concept of self. There are three parts of self, according to Jung. The persona - the self we show the public, the shadow - our doubts and fears, the ego - our dreams and hopes. Black Swan falls in the Shadow Concept. It is about a Martha graham quote: a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful. BTS is afraid of loosing their passion for music. Hence all the shadows and mirrors.

I really enjoy your reactions, and I always learn something new from you. I have listened to BTS songs and watched their videos hundreds of times and still discover little nuances and details regularly. Their talent, artistry and overall perfection made me ARMY and are the reasons I will always be ARMY. 💜 The Black Swan performance on the Jimmy Fallon show from 2020 is one of my favorites. I also recommend the behind the scenes of Jimin's solo. He does all the shadow work and I could just watch his solo dances all day.

BTS say Jimin is their Black Swan. He's the only one who is a classically trained dancer. He was top student and did ballet so he's the one with the Blue hair and the amazing moves. Jimin is also Sugas shadow .Imagine if BTS got a 30 minute slot at the Grammys and they performed this.

The stand pose, twirl, spin,...in contemporary are from ballet. There's a ytber who is a ballet dancer and a big JM stan make alot of vid analyzing ballet moves in his dances too.

For all the LOVE you have for jimins voice you need to listen to lie ...serendipity ..filter and promise.....but for sure check out jimins best live vocals....this group is something really special

I love your smile when you saw Jimin :) He really IS their Black Swan, fierce, beautiful and fragile ! You should like his solo dance in the BS MV Behind the scene, on Bangtan TV, and also, his solo live performance on the ON:E online concert , and the rehearsal on the memories 2020 DVD (you can find some links on YT). It' a shame that the Covid lead to the cancelation of their world tour juste after the release of this song and the MOTS7 album, , but anyway, the oT7 group have some beautiful live performances: in person at James Corden Late Late show; online at Jimmy Fallon Tonight Show, and fancams of Black Swan at their LA, Seoul or Vegas recent PTD concerts. This song has something special, in his musicality, his lyrics, witch are so relatable for any kind of artists or creative people, the choregraphy, the staging... it's a peace of art.

This particular MMA (Melon Music Awards) was 2020, which was during the pandemic, so no live audience. They filmed this, so unlike other Live performances, they did have time to change to the black costumes. Still, this performance blew my mind when I saw it the first time. I never can get enough. Suga was missing from this because he was recovering from Shoulder surgery. (All the MMA performances from 2015 or 2016 through 2020 are worth watching in full!) They've been doing this in their recent concerts (full song and choreo), and also did on James Corden show awhile back Live. The song is based on an earlier movie of the same name; basically a dancer (or artist) has 2 deaths - one when they can't perform anymore (or don't want to, lose their passion for it), and their actual death. The first death is felt to be the hardest one for a performer.

I appreciate your talking about how difficult it is to cover every detail in the first reaction. One of the best reactions I've seen elsewhere was from Queen B, when she had to do a second reaction to a live Dimple and Pied Piper performance - because she had already seen and absorbed some of the performance, when she did the second reaction, her face was full of the delight of joy and music, she was so relaxed, it was so much fun to watch. I wish more people would just let go of that rule that a reaction has to be completely fresh, for BTS. There is so much depth to BTS's work, that it will have new things to discover each time it's watched.

The meaning of the song is based on a quote from a dancer many year ago, and I don’t know the exact words of the quote, but is is something like “ A dancer experiences their first deaths when they can no longer dance and it is the most painful”. When you go back and study the lyrics you will see that they are afraid of loving their love of making music. Jimin took Modern Dance at the Seoul School of Arts, which is a high school similar to Julliard. This song was truly made for him.

Beautiful moments from BTS.

The Martha Graham quote is the impetus for the lyrics. The film BLACK SWAN (which is about dancers competing for the lead role in "Swan Lake" and shows a descent into shadow and madness as a consequence of the search for perfect artistry) is the inspiration for the choreography. It is a deeply disturbing, Oscar-winning film, and right in line with the Shadow part of Map of the Soul.

This is a very personal project of BTS, the song is about their fears of losing passion for music and also ties into the album concept of Carl jungs psychology. What a beautiful but haunting song for an artist to attempt

Now watching black swan mv wouldn't felt same anymore thinking they wanted to hiatus on group comeback back then and started solo, that's why they pre released black swan that is a b-side in mots:7. They talked about it in this song clearly, and we all just realized it after the dinner clip. They are scared about their "deaths" as a musician group. They don't know what message to give to people through music anymore... So sad. I hope they got the energy back after 1-2 years of group comeback hiatus. And yeah, black swan is art art bro

Yes the lyrics are "film it now". Just remember they pronounce English words a little differently sometimes so they're more or less saying it like fi-lim it now. The song is about their inner fears - represented by shadows. The fear that one day they might lose interest in music. That would be their first death. This saying is based on Martha Graham's Quote saying the same thing about the dancer in her. In the end they come to terms with themselves and the shadow calms down while earlier it was dancing crasily. The song is from their album Map of the soul 7 the concept of which is based on Karl Jung's philosophy. Persona - shadow - ego.

There are 3 explanations videos by a channel called my bookish theories, one for this mv, one for the other mv (yes it has 2, the other by a dancing company) and the final one for their james cordon live performance stage, they all correlate to jung yoon theories, i HIGHY RECOMMEND THEM ALL, i promise its worth it, youll appreciate them/the song on a much deeper level after catching all the small details and overall message

MMA performance was homage to the art film of Black Swan performed by MN Dance Company. 💜 My mouth dropped when I realized all 6 were lifted. Core strength and lots of practice. And trust.

You should check them out doing this in their PTD stage! Their dancers make them look like they have wings. It is the coolest thing.
