I'm 74 and have had a Midnight Black GoldStar for just over 12 months. Its never let me down and its a completely different character than any other bike being a big thumper. Unfortunately I've recently had a minor heart attack and have just come out of hospital so i can't ride for 7 days but i will soon be out and about. I heartedly (no pun) recommend one you won't be disappointed.

Best wishes for a full recovery, hope you get to enjoy many more riding days on the BSA. I have a T120 Bonneville Bobber, but am also very tempted by the BSA 'Thumper', I just wish there were more dealers for them about, particularly one closer to home.

Look after yourself Ian, I hope you're feeling much better very soon and that you'll be in the saddle again before long. When it's appropriate, a gentle little bimble will be the perfect way to enhance your recovery 😊

Team RE350 here (am totally not biased due to owning one!) I have a Classic & love her but also have not ridden the BSA so cannot offer a comparison. Were I buying the 350 again then would consider the Bullet for that seat, not that the Classic isn't all day comfortable. What I would say despite 'the numbers' is that the little RE has surpassed all my expectations, tours inc' on motorways & carries a pillion. just fine

I've just fitted a booster plug to my 2018 T100 because of the snatchy throttle at slow speed and small throttle inputs. It's a huge improvement, smooth throttle at all speeds and it now ticks over at a steady 1000 rpm rather than fluctuating. Everything else is stock.

I have both the BSA Gold Star 650 and an RE Classic 350. I love them both. The RE is still running in, but I am almost as fast on b roads as any other bike I have had. Horses for courses. I could not choose. But the RE has more bits available for it.

The build quality has improved a little judging by the bikes which were at the NEC last November. In particular the sharp-edged radiator cover has now become a three piece design with proper side cheeks.

I think between BSA and RE you'll be served well by either. Ultimately I think you just have to put a list of side by side comparisons, and winner will appear. Obviously all the obvious questions, which is more comfortable? Which is more practical? Which looks better? Etc This weekend I bought a (new to me) second hand bike. It's my first proper bike rather than just riding a 125. I was thinking about getting an nc750x or cb500x, or possibly a royal enfield 650 or a second hand bonneville... Instead I took a massive left turn and got an amazing deal on a CBR400RR NC29. It scares me in the best of ways, and I've only revved it to 7k rpm when it will do 14.5k happily. Anyway, plenty of tinkering to do before I'm going to put it on the road.

Personally I still want the extra power offered by the 650 and it’s very versatile. Very different looking too, I love it and dot. Forget 2023 models all have 4 years warranty included.

Hi, there is no contest between these 2 in my eyes. Sean has had both bikes and I by far love the Goldstar. In Spain and in Portugal as we've been travelling looking for our new home, sooooo many people have stopped and commented on Sean's bike. We often had people stopping outside the house when it was parked on the road to admire it and here people literally fall over themselves to come and ask what it is. It's a gem and as a pillion it's a dream 😁 we're having a day out on a speed 900 Bonnie soon so we'll see how it compares and we'll report back, well Sean (@mindfulmotorcyclist) will definitely be sharing what he thinks in a video 😊 keep up the good work, love listening to your Chats in your garage ❤️

@@zedcharlie I hear that about comfort issues after my accident & 30yr old back injury.Comfort issue is on all bikes now so it's about getting what works for you & then managing it like stopping every 60-90mins depending on distance for a stretch & rest etc.Stopping every so often for stretch etc you can look around see things you would of blasted pass years earlier & is more enjoyable.
