I'm a Yank and therefore raised with .22L, .556, 45-70, 308. 12Ga, .357, and, .44Mag. But none of those are stealthy enough to set out a lawn chair in the back yard and dispatch vermin without upsetting neighbors and authorities. I'm impressed with how informational your reviews are with your giving BOTH pros and cons of the particular guns, their features, and their calibers in general. I wish more 'reviewers' were as balanced in their reviews.

As most people will say, not quite what I was expecting......BUT after watching this is actually a huge step for BSA as most people love an Ultra. 12 shot mag, regulated, over 70 shots in .22 , a stainless pellet probe...Hallelujah. and finally an all new monoblock action. This is going to be a big seller. Great review Andy. Thank you

I agree - the match trigger and barrel quality alone are better than other entry level PCPs, the only dissapointment for myself is the rear pull bolt, Check out the bolt bounce during fire on Mark Camoccio's video.

Got to say that I was very intrigued by this excellent review. After almost a year of indecision I've added this to my collection. It's amazing. Started by cleaning the barrel and when I fired the first pellets to lead same again, I tried shooting a twelve pellet group and managed a grouping that fitted under a five pence coin- from a clean barrel at 18yards (my standard ratting zero). The trigger, straight out of the box, is about as perfect for me as any trigger could be. The ridiculously expensive magazines are faultless. Just about everything on this compact rifle is as it should be. So, is there anything that could be better? Well, first it only comes with one magazine and extra mags will make your eyes water when you pay. It would have been nice to have an adjustable butt pad and/or cheek piece, but that's a bit of gilding the lily. And....... err that's the cons dealt with. All the revisions/improvements highlighted in the review have been carefully thought out. Sufficient to say that once I'd zeroed the 4-16x Veyron, I got so much fun from shooting the clx that I managed to drop the air down to 80 bar before I remembered to check the very-accessible-without-peering-down-the-barrel gauge. Thanks for the review Andy, that's a clx and a Webley Mk6 you've talked me into buying and I've switched to Vector Optics scopes (also down to you).

Can we have more reviews of products which can be snuck past the dearly beloved? Don't think I will be tempted to buy, just yet, have other rifles to tame first - lol. I love shooting with my ultra clx, but it is currently on its way back to BSA. The gun refused to cock after six months of trouble-free shooting. As I took it out of the carry case at my local gun shop, the assistant diagnosed the problem without a word from me. The shop will not stock the ultra clx or the new R12, because the pellet probe on the clx block pulls lead back into the action and ends your chances of getting a shot away. A number of ultra clx's have been brought back to the. The gun is a dream to use when everything does what it should and I hope that it comes back to me suitably modified by BSA.

Such a pretty gun! Stock is reminiscent of the old Scheutzen rifles, but updated. the increased swell on the stock balances the shorter action/barrel mounting - looks right. Otherwise it might look like the lovechild resulting after an R10 got a good rodgering by a bullpup (and in my mind, bullpups are ugly). Real, warm wood, quality mechanicals - a very elegant air rifle.

Good review as ever. The CLX looks a really good gun and I found myself wondering if I could justify another rifle. The only thing I would take issue with is that, if I was pushing a rifle as a flagship celebrating an impressive history of manufacturing, it seems an omission not to have the butt pad and cheekpiece both adjustable.

Judging by the other comments there are a lot of underwhelmed folks, but I think BSA are on to a winner. The Ultra is a fantastic little rifle for what it is, shot count is always an issue with the short cylinder but the price and handling have been a plus, many owners have subsequently modified their Ultra with a Scorpion length cylinder and aftermarket barrel shroud. The CLX has improved the shot count and for me a larger, clearer pressure gauge is an improvement. I also really like the new stock, if they can drop the price by ~£50 and offer the option of a walnut stock and/or regulator as extra... I think it's fire.

Nice review Andy , as usual. I really like BSA pcp's , but ,I have to agree that an updated Ultra / Scorpion was overdue. Most owners of these 'underestimated' rifles (especially the Scorpion), would like an 'updated version' to be equipped with a side lever , 'anti 'double load, Huma Reg, and a silencer , as standard . Because , if, BSA did a little research they would probably find that's what most present 'Se' owners do with their guns. Also, an FAC version with a longer air tube giving 30 shots @20ft/lbs. And by the time all those bits have been added , the Se's are in the HW110, and DS Regal price range. Its a nice little update , but I cant help feeling BSA Is still playing 'catch up'.

Hmmm I like the look of it. I like the fact it's a build quality focused rifle ..and fact it's been updated . But as a newer shooter that's what it looks like .. if feels like they went and got a scorpion/ ultra and updated and worked on every part of the rifle ... the self regulating thing I would assume it's updated fast trike hammer system.. I personally like this approach updates and fetteling is a verry British thing . The price is a little on the steep side but it is brand new updated rifle would of been nicer around the 499. Maybe the polymer stock would be at that price .. as always Andy a great vid full of info . Really do cover all the bases and clearly explained.. I would say you added another rifle to the list for my first pcp. 👍😉

I think it's a good improvement over previous ultra, especially shot count, a longer forend I'd of asked for, being so short hanging from a shoulder sling will be very 'sideways', bipod will be in the way of hand position, could of gone out nearly to the end of the cylinder. AA got it right with s410. Bsa could have followed. Scorpion clx,? that could be the one!

This is the best review I have seen so far 👏🏻👏🏻 Gutted I have likely missed out on the offer but tbf I do prefer the Beech look 😍 Is there a silencer that you would recommend? I have been looking for my first rifle for a while and due to having nerve damage to my left side I need a lighter one 👍🏻 I tried a friend's Walther RM8 that, though I could still hit the target, was just too heavy 😬 I have tried the Air Arms S510 carbine as well but something about this CLX makes me think it's The One!! 🤗
