Brute Force Fab FACTORY Rear Bumper install on 5th Gen 4 Runner

In February, I drove to Fresno, California, home of Brute Force Fab and the infamous "Billy" to have my rear bumper installed. I ordered it about 16 weeks prior (see lead times on their site) and was anxiously awaiting it's completion. Why did I drive almost 10 hours to Fresno?
1. To capture this behind-the-scenes video of the illusive Billy himself, installing this bumper, so you you could experience it via the Tube of You.
2. Because they don't ship the bumper powdercoated, and I wanted the "factory" powdercoat. I'm kinda picky like that.
3. Because frankly, I didn't want to have to deal with this install solo with all it's precision cutting, and begging my wife and kids to help me hold this thing up while I bolted it on.
I've gotten countless messages via Instagram about how I secured this bumper. Billy can be hard to get ahold of, but he responded to my initial text, sent me an invoice via email, I made a 50% deposit, trusted the process and 16 weeks later, I was on the road to get my bumper installed. Others have had less luck with communication, but mine went pretty smoothly.
This video is NOT a ho-to install video. I simply documented the process as most folks don't get to see it in person before heading to the shop or unpacking their bumper when it arrives. It may help visualize the install, but the measurements, cutting and mounting are things left to Billy and his crew. He mentioned he'd be putting together a how-to video in the future. And I'll be doing a full bumper walk around and review in the near future as well. Hopefully you enjoy this and it sheds some light on an enigma the likes of Nessy and Bigfoot.

Just wanted to chime in as an owner of one of Billy’s bumpers too and I have to say that it is freaking solid and awesome. I’ve had my bumper for about a year now and have zero complaints about it. My bumper has been on quite a few trips with Moab being the most recent where I really beat on it. I was coming down a rock garden/shelf and fell right on the bumper and it held its shape and ate the impact. I will say that yes Billy is sometimes hard to get a hold of like many have experienced but he’s not purposely ignoring customers. His team is really small and he is doing his best to not flood his shop with orders. I would say he is one of the few owners who understands his supply chain and shop limitations very well. For anyone considering this bumper, you will not be disappointed with it and with Billy. Thanks for putting this video together for people to see process of installation and to see the “elusive” Billy. LOL

@@smithncompany That doesn't matter. Just a matter of time before that disc centrifugally explodes and he'll have no fingers. Years ago I worked for a commercial steel fab shop that had three guys get seriously wounded doing the same thing. There's NOTHING you can't do with the guard on that you can with it off. Most 4.5" grinders turn faster than 5" disc are rated for too.

I was, am, upset about the fibreglass being inhaled as the cutting was happening. I was forcibly retired because my lungs had finally said, "Enough, I cannot take anymore". I now drag an oxygen bottle around.

Cutting disks fill with plastic. That will cause an imbalance, a lot of vibration, and within a 1/2 second explode. I did that when younger. Thankfully nobody was in the shop, and I was not injured. I was scared as I should have been. It took a long time to clean the cutting wheel pieces from the shop. My boss came by the next day and asked me how the cutting had worked. He let me know he was happy I was not hurt, and learned to not be a bonehead. He was a great boss, had a background in the SEABEEs,@@AZBADBOYz

Yes, they will. I know this is late by 6 months, but, future readers will know. I just drove up to Clovis to pick up my front & rear steel bumpers with dual swing outs. Very friendly. They place them on my roof rack, gently. I took them off at home. They can install both for you in a day I believe. Billy can be contacted through their site. He will call you or email you.

Hmm, I have the same vehicle. Carried the front & rear home last week. They were on my roof rack. Had no issues with being underpowered. Main issue was keeping speed down, both going up a mountain, down the other side, then up the mountain I lived on. No idea why you say the 4runner is under-powered.

This is a ripoff CBI rear bumper and cbi is better the same design as cbi @CBI Offroad fab
