This is part of the 25th Rock&Roll Hall of Fame anniversary in 2009. Great performances and collaborations between living legends. Bruce Springsteen, Simon and Garfunkel, U2, John Fogerty, Stevie Wonder, Billie Joel, Aretha Franklin, Metallica. Pretty ridiculous amount of talent got on stage and it realy deserves more views than it has.

Unfortunately, popular music and popular "musical artists" today have mastered computer programs, while the artist of previous generations mastered their instrument(s) and there is something about watching a master at their craft, like Tom Morello, perform. You can see the hours they have poured into this. And you can't get that same feeling when you are watching artists just sing to a track they made on a computer. It speaks to a lack of dedication and mastery we have today and I think this is why music of the past is so much more compelling, so much more dynamic, and so much more interesting. Glad you watched this one!

I'm a boomer from New Jersey and have seen him perform live 5 times. They all were high energy and stellar performances from all of the band. Bruce is an extremely capable guitarist and has surrounded himself with top-notch musicians. Perhaps it explains why he still sells out shows nearly 6 decades running 🏃‍♀️ btw I'm looking forward to more reactions from you as you continue your musical journey 😀 😉

That's the first time I've seen someone accuse the boomers of not promoting Springsteen's greatness to the younger generations. Maybe you were just referring to this performance but I think it was more, "Elders, why have you not told us more about this guy?" As one of the accused, let me just say that, in our defense, most of us have tried. It's just that Springsteen's career as a musician has extended over 6 decades and is still a continual source of wonder. Very few of his fans are familiar with more than a fraction of his recorded work, let alone performance videos. This performance, which is every bit the amazement you identified, is just what Springsteen expects from himself and his bandmates every time he performs. There are dozens of equally great Springsteen performances on this platform. So, as not just a boomer but one from Jersey fer Chrisake, let me take my shot. Springsteen's "The Rising" album remains the best artistic response to 9/11 I've encountered. This performance of "My City of Ruins" is very spare but it is all the more powerful for that. kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6SJ2JippLyeqNo.htmlsi=t2mgFbLE5k0rvwln

I believe... I mean... I'm not sure but I believe not may people did feel and get from this video what I've got. Bruce Springsteen made me mature up pretty quickly since I heard him for the very first time in USA For Africa signing on "We Are The World" and in the "Trapped" track at the end of side 1 or the beginning of side 2 of the album I bought, the very first I bought on my own, in the old musicassette format when that album was released. Since then, after buying "Born In USA" and "Nebraska" as immediate follow ups, Bruce made me grow up as a man, with a conscience and making me, a kid in early teens making me fall in love for the United States of America I didn't know anything about outside of what Hollywood had for me whose passion for Hollywood B&W movies was shared to me by my father. Fun fact... my father hated the fact I bought "Born In USA", which was a sacrilege for a Classic Music purist like him, and made that album disappear. That alone made me even more dedicated to The Boss! Now... let's talk about Tom Morello shall we... Rage Against The Machine... a life-changer for someone with a political sensibility like I have, a passion and drive which led me to be active as a student with my role as Students Representative in my region in Italy for several years in the early mid 90s. I've bought and listened all the RATM albums I could, thanks to my cousin Nicola who made me find them out. I have listened Tom and Zack and the others, danced as well on that RATM rhythm... we all know what happened to that band, how they basically melted and lost themselves without being what they represented no more... a political voice to be heard and taken as a life awareness based gift. So, that been said, please... just look at the video again and look at Tom, do not pay attention to the monster riffs he made us used to expect from him, rather focus on his singing. Dammit... how many times have you seen him singing!?? I don't remember... Zack would have overshadowed any singer with a voice within TATM, Chris Cornell would have overshadowed anybody within Audioslave and any other band in the world aside Layne Staley and a bunch of few others like them. Just look at Tom Morello playing alongside a living and evergreen legend like The Boss... and just tell me you don't see it... please, tell me you don't see it because that would be a slap on my face. Can't you see how happy he is, like I do? He looks like he feel finally being part of a political piece of art in The Ghost Of Tom Joad" like he was singing a political message which is universal or universal should be. "Arm The Homeless" he wrote on his guitar. He clearly owes that passion and drive to his own mother and I can understand that so damn well. I suffer for not having never ever had a chance to attend a Bruce Springsteen and E-Street Band live concert, and probably I won't ever have that chance in what is left in a lifetime for me. Speaking of mothers, I can speak about mine... she also was a teacher as Tom's mom was who shared to me his passion for politics and society and she was a student when the '68 was a thing and political awareness was the key in people's life when it still mattered. I just wish I had a chance to go attending to a Bruce Springsteen live concert with her and despite she's way too old and yet alive we'll never have a chance. That makes my heart cry. performances like this shake me outside and deep within to the core. Thanks Tom Morello. Thanks, most of all, Bruce Springsteen... my dear beloved Boss... for having made me grow up a hopefully decent and definitely overall a better man. You Bruce are one of the very few who's changed my life!

Tom Morello is one of the most innovative guitarist surround. You’ve probably heard him before - he is the guitar player for Rage Against the Machine: If you haven’t done a video yet reviewing their song killing in the name of - you’re missing out

You have Bruce…Steve Van Zandt (watch the Sopranos), Max Weinberg who played in Conan O’Brians house band on late night, and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine! This gives me goosebumps from the first one. Try some Rage!!! Renegades of Funk!

I was lucky enough to see Bruce and Tom perform this live one of times I saw Springsteen, not long before we lost Clarence. I was so upset I missed them in LA last month. Great review, I really enjoy watching you experience new music for you. ❤

Saw Tom doing this live with Bruce in LA - 2009, just killed it. I still like the live energy of the first time Tom got up to play Ghost of Tom Joad live with Bruce, and the entire back story of Tom learning the song in one key, showing up to play and Bruce telling him they were doing it in a different key, "you can do it, and it will be great."

Why is it that I watch other videos and can work through it yet, I turn on your videos and I stop everything to watch. I never really watched or listened to Bruce Springsteen. I liked this one and couldn't work, I had to watch. Love the ending of your show with Tom Hanks. It makes me smile hearing his uplifting "Fire". You are a breath of fresh air. Keep up the great videos. Hugs!

Bruce Springsteen's greatest album is Nebraska and the second is The Ghost of Tom Joad, he's at his best solo with an acoustic guitar. The greatest performance you can watch, is Bruce singing My Father's House, recorded by someone in the audience. It's him at his most honest, vulnerable and greatest.

Go deep on Springsteen, especially live. Album: "Live: 1975-1985". Some are just going to be audio, but. . . you have no idea what is waiting for you. Backstreets. Darkness at the Edge of Town. Thunder Road. Badlands. Independence Day. The River (WITH the intro). War. And that's the tip of his iceberg.

Dayum... I've never seen Tom Morello play outside of RATM or Audioslave (in which he's 🔥)... But I'm absolutely loving this "David Gilmour-ish" version!!! Ok, he started going nuts as I'm writing this, but still!!! LOL 😂Pure Awesomeness!!! I kinda stopped listening to Bruce ever since bootcamp... unfortunately the "Born in the USA" song had the perfect cadence to our drilling and it was played RELENTLESSLY!!! LOL However...I really love this song and this is actually the first time I've heard it ❤

I’m shocked that I don’t see the comment anywhere, so just to let you know, Rage Against the Machine also does a cover of this on an album. It’s definitely performed way differently but worth checking out.
