Although Bruce wrote the song he never had a hit single with it. The Pointer Sisters recorded it and had a huge worldwide hit that went to #2 on the Hot 100 in 1979. I loved it as teenager and is one of my favorite songs to this day.

I was born in '80 but was raised on Springsteen music by my father who was a massive fan. This song in particular my Dad would always sing to my Mom. My Dad's seen him many times in concert over the decades but I haven't been as fortunate. Maybe one day if both live music and Springsteen ever come back again... 🤞🤞

1980 - I was born that year, I fell in love with Bruce when I was 13 or 14. I have been to 4 concerts so far and no. 5 will be in 4 weeks and I am so grateful for every single one of them. He`s been the constant in my life that I could always rely on. His music, his voice is touching something so deep within me. I love you, Bruce. And I miss Clarence, but I love Jake also.

The Boss wrote for the King? Bruce Springsteen was so inspired after watching Elvis Presley perform that he wrote “Fire” specifically for him. “I sent [Elvis] a demo of it, but he died before it arrived,” Springsteen said. The "Born to Run" singer then recorded the track himself for his 1978 album, Darkness on the Edge of Town, but it didn’t make the cut. Instead, the Pointer Sisters took the song and turned it into a Billboard chart-topper for 14 weeks in 1979.

Saw this tour in Brighton '81. Bruce, the Big man, Miami Steve, and The Professor sang some great four-part harmonies. This was brilliant, as was "Cadillac Ranch" with The Boss,, Big Man, Miami and "W" jumping to the front of the stage and doing dance routines. Utterly, utterly brilliant! Halfway through the first number, Bruce's left wrist - the lowest part of his guitar-fretting arm - started to drip sweat about one drop/sec. and this only stopped on numbers like this where he ditched the guitar. What a guy, what a band!
