Start it with Angle vs Shane McMahon KOTR 2001, go through all the spots of that match and all the injuries that happened in it including the glass spot, then near the end before the Angle Slam off the board in the corner and after Angle says to Shane before he jumps: "I think I broke my collarbone" Angle jumps. Cuts to white, to a young Kurt Angle waking up to a normal wrestling day at college. The story just starts....

They could have made this a six-part miniseries, with Episode 1 called “Fritz”, Episode 2 called “David”, and then “Mike”, then “Chris”, then “Kerry”, and the finale would be “Kevin”. There’s only so much you can do in two hours. But the actors did an amazing job. Looking forward to seeing more of those guys

The story is too depressing... Especially to people who have had those thoughts and depression. No way anyone would be able to get through it.... When I heard when Chris death would have been.... I instantly thought.... Oh ok. That would have been too much for me and I would have HAD to stop watching. And a lot of people I talked with felt the same way. There's only some much hurt we can take

Agreed on that Ric Flair part. It felt like a parody or a cosplay. He wasn't really ACTING like Ric, more like a little impression.

Bruce brings an incredible perspective and the fact he literally grew up in the wrestling business and is still in it, is amazing. He has seen so much and is a fantastic storyteller, which makes this podcast so great. That said, while I would watch a Bruce movie, the general population would not be interested.

Imagine being the runt of all your brothers, only standing 5’4” with brittle bone disease and wanting to be a professional wrestler and follow in your family’s foot steps so bad. You push yourself as hard as you can but can’t get past constant injury and physical hurdles. When you’re 22 you shoot yourself in the head, being the 4th out of 5 of your brothers to die. Then 30 years later a movie comes out about your family’s legacy and tragedy within the wrestling business. They cut you out “for time” and highlight all the other suicides. Now the general public of non wrestling fans that became exposed to your family’s story STILL won’t know your name. Even in death he’ll always be in his brothers shadow, RIP Chris Von Erich

All 3 original Walking Tall movies, were filmed in the tri-county area of Southwest Tennessee, where I live. McNairy County, where Buford Pusser was actually Sheriff, would not allow them to film the movie there. So they filmed in the counties around McNairy. I live about 8 miles from the McNairy county line. They filmed all the scenes in Madison, Hardeman and Chester counties. Some of the car chase scenes were filmed about 5 minutes down the road from my house. The Pine Ridge Club, which is the first bar you see on Part 1, is where i used to hang out. Its still open today. Other than being painted different colors, it basically looks the exact same as it did in the movie.

I want to thank Bruce for suggesting " Walking Tall " from 1973. Never saw it before, but right after watching this video I went and watched it. Great great great movie. I only knew Joe Don Baker as sort of the joke he became as he got older in some truly awful movies, but this was an outstanding performance. I am 50 years old and I can't believe I never took the time to watch this classic. Thanks again Bruce.

Just saw the movie tonight. The acting is superb but don’t expect to leave the theater feeling good. Only issue i had was Jeremy allen white physically just wasn’t believable if you’re a big wrestling fan. Kerry was a foot taller and much more physically built. He looked like a movie star with a rare muscular/chiseled frame. Dude could stand next to the ultimate warrior and not look small…. Zac Efron knocks it out of the park though. An absolute home run of a performance that frankly has changed the way I view him as a serious dramatic actor.

I felt Jeremy Allen White would've been perfect if he'd been given the juice Efron obviously was on. But I disagree with you about Efron's portrayal, unless maybe being stiff and wooden was the point (the whole "men can't cry" thing?). Having said that, while Kerry was far bigger than Kevin (which was the opposite in the movie), I don't think he was that much bigger than most of the guys of the time. He didn't dwarf Ric Flair, he was just better built. He wasn't that much taller, if he was taller, than Baron Von Raschke, just bigger muscles.

I was allowed the Bruce Prichard experience of selling programs and setting up merch tables and bringing ice cream to Rufus R jones etc in Central States Wrestling as a child in the early 1980's. There's enough for 10 movies there but I have to think that so many people who are now gone would be dissappointed if I were to expose the business in movie form. Maybe someday I'll spill the beans about Harley Race's hilarious shoot beat down of young Vinnie Valentino.

The original Walking Tall was awesome, as a kid I saw grownups crying their eyes out over realism and personal loss Buford Pusser suffered throughout his life. Shown it to my kids too, a moving film.

I’m guessing this was recorded prior to today’s announcement of Marshall, Ross, and Kevin Von Erich will be on AEW new week.

Chavo hasn’t missed an opportunity to tell everyone how great he was training everyone, and how great he is in the movie.

Iron Claw is an excellent movie. My only critique is the actor who played Rick Flair was not very Flair-like. But that was a tiny scene in the film and did not ruin the overall movie. I would say Iron Claw is a must-see for any wrestling fan.

Bruce was very kind about the Ric Flair portrayal there. That was 'not accurate.' It was the drizzling shits.

Andre the Giant should have movie made, hes the greatest attraction in wrestling history, worked every territory and was in biggest match in history against Hogan in Wrestlemania 3.

Maybe a film about bruiser brody or eddie graham. A film about pat patterson would be intriguing

I am still looking forward to it regardless . But another wrestling movie they wouldn't have to embellish AT ALL on , is the rise and fall of FMW .From the one of a kind crazy death matches to how the Japanese Mafia The Yakuza owned it/funded it and new owner Arai was taking out loans left right and center to pay the other while the Yakuza finally had enough of the BS and he eventually hanged himself then came after his family . But there is way more to it than that . Look up the documentary if your interested on the whole story . Also the Life and Death of Bruiser Brody would be an interesting movie . All that went down and then the trial that got Invader 1 acquitted because the American wrestlers who were gonna testify did not receive their order to appear in court till one day after the trial ! Hmmmmm.

I've seen clips and the only thing I would say is Zac Efron should have worked more on the voice, Kevin has one of the most distinctive deep voices you'll ever hear, even if Zac had just lowered the pitch/tone of it a small bit, doesn't really make a difference to the film but just some added authenticity, if you're going to work on the accent you may as well work on the voice as well

Conrad had an iron claw on a turkey leg at Thanksgiving. He wouldn't break the hold, so he was DQ'd from the table.

I saw it and enjoyed it. However, a few criticisms would be that Kerry could have been featured more, Chris being excluded entirely seems disrespectful (although I understand the filmmaker's reasons) and the brief 'afterlife' scene was a bit much. Otherwise, it was a good movie.

The people who didn't like it so much, like me, don't feel that way because its not accurate to what actually happened. Those in the know were pretty much made aware that the movie wasn't going to be accurate & had been made aware of for months by the family that they had absolutely no involvement in this film whatsoever. So I forgave all that going into the movie & was still very eager to see what they made. While I agree the acting was phenomenal on the part of Efron and McCallany as Kevin and Fritz, I thought the story was pretty cliff note and rushed. Once David died in the film it seemed like the movie put its foot on the gas pedal and just sped through the tragedies to get us to the ending with Kevin and his boys. There was barely anytime to let the deaths of David and Mike resonate as far as I was concerned and Kerry's kind of crossed the line into cheese for me. I did not hate the film but I expected a lot more from it and was disappointed

I liked the movie, but I have 2 gripes. I think they should of had a bigger Kerry Von Erich, and they left out Chris Von Erich unless I missed something.

A "wrestling" movie I would love to see be made would be about Sputnik Monroe. His whole story is just fascinating. I watched Iron Claw last night and I agree 100% with Bruce on the movie.

I take issue with Bruce saying “it’s not a wrestling film, it’s a film about family and tragedy with wrestling as a backdrop” in response to Conrad wondering if the success of this movie could lead to more wrestling films. My issue is that if a film “being about family and tragedy” disqualifies the film from being a “wrestling film”, then there shouldn’t be more “wrestling films”. The best films about wrestling would be films about tragedy, comedy, love, success, failure-real life. This movie should bring about more historical-fictional type films about Wrestling icons not because wrestling is so awesome per se, but because it is such an interesting world in which lots of intense, real life drama occurs. If we just wanted “wrestling films”, we’d just watch matches lol. Even wrestling TV at it’s best isn’t just wrestling-it’s storylines that bring in real personaloties. Basically any good movie is more than its setting. Star Wars isn’t just a film about a war in a galaxy, it’s a story about family and tragedy lol

Missed opportunity! Should’ve been a six-part, two-hour episodic TV miniseries devoted to Fritz and the five brothers: Episode 1: Fritz Von Erich Episode 2: David Von Erich Episode 3: Mike Von Erich Episode 4: Kerry Von Erich Episode 5: Chris Von Erich Episode 6: Kevin Von Erich This would’ve been a perfect structure to tell everyone’s story concisely and thoroughly. Maybe even score some Emmy awards. I should’ve been the director/writer/producer on this project. Missed opportunity, indeed!

Good idea Brucey. A movie about the wrestling business through the eyes of a young boy. How about a movie based on the life of Mel Phillips

Most people do not understand what BASED ON A TRUE STORY means but to be fair it is kind of deceiving . ARGO is a good example of that it is like 75 % fiction , Americans were taken prisoner and there was an operation to get them out and agents did pretend to be a film crew but the U . S had nothing to do with it and the only part the guy Affleck played had to do with it was he got a phone call from Canada that there was a mission to get them out but it was still a good movie .

Original Scarface 1932 is awesome but also is the 1983 Scarface version.

Would like to see a film of Jake Roberts, Iron Sheik, Buddy Rogers, Harley Race, Andre the Gaint, Bret Hart, Rowdy Piper, Ric Flair, Randy Savage, DDP, Jimmy Snuka Bam Bam Bigelow, Matt Osborne Doink, New Jack, ECW, Herbert Abrams UFW, Ox Baker, Jessie Venture would all make interesting film dramas

Magnum T.A's story would make a good movie...

To me, the most obvious wrestling movie that needs to be made is one on "Toots" Mondt.

Bruce summed up Walking Tall perfectly... Based on.. Gives the movie maker a little leeway to fudge facts.. As opposed to The Blindside that completley lies about key facts

The only reason im watching this is because it hit my algorithm. Bruce Prichard is such a fucking know it all. You dont need to do anything other than say its a good movie and that its good for the promotion of the wrestling business.
