Bruce Lee's 5 BEST TACTICS used in MMA Sparring

In this video I will be showing you 5 of my favourite tactics used by Bruce Lee. *Note* that UNLIKE my usual Martial Arts tutorials, I have never been formally trained in Jeet Kune Do and this video was made for fun!

    Actually is bad demonstration. Bruce lee technique is actually more brutal than you think. The thing about bruce move is that you can't really block his attack. If he hit the person. It pretty much is done

Also, I can personally vouch for the flick backlist. I used to use this all the time in point and full contact kumite and it was the technique that landed the most. I often used the flick punch when shoulder rolling in boxing. The reason it is so effective is because it comes from under the line of sight, I remember speaking to sparring partners and they all hated it with a passion, one thing not shown here is the flick, rolling under the oppositions counter punch, changing angle, and then a flurry combination. You don't need any power, in fact I found using just enough to touch the opponent making them close their eyes was enough to get a split second advantage.

    I don't know how many times you took to master this moves your way and you succeeded to brought them in sparring which shows the veracity of Bruce Lee Theories and Demonstrations. Bravooo, for showing your true best expression of yourself into the 'Bruce Lee mood' With a speed execution that everyone can watch correctly the technical part of it. Great content, great humility 👉🙏👈👉👏👈 One of the few showing it in sparring. Good that MMA fighters show more contents from the forefather of what we called MMA. #BeWaterMyFriend

    Awesome video. There were a couple I wished was on here, such as the side kick to the knee, and the oblique kick. My fav has always been the side kick or the inverted to the guard hand or the groan. I’m currently training JKD not formally, but taking bits and pieces for my personal repertoire. Would love to train somewhere formally, but I have been doing my best trying to self-train and sparring with friends from time to time. I feel good bout it, but I know there are a lot of errors as far as technique that I need to correct. Awesome video if I haven’t said that already. 👍🏽

    Nice job! A great collection of techniques, and I really liked the way you included sparring examples where the techniques worked and where they didn’t. That’s a really useful approach. With respect to the flick punch followed by shuffle step and side kick, I think Lee actually used a pendulum step in that case. The flick punch tends to bring your weight forward as you extend to get reach. That’s a perfect setup to use the pendulum step. You replace your supporting leg with your rear leg in a pendulum motion as your weight transfers back towards the rear and you execute the side kick. A sniffle step doesn’t have the same forward-backward weight transfer, because you don’t lean forward and put your center of gravity over your centerline as you do in a pendulum step. That little forward lean gives you a bit of extra reach for the flick punch. That said, this can be done with a shuffle step. You just don’t get quite the same reach on the flick punch.

    I watched this again a year later what I like is how focused this is on the flick punch ... Nice that gives more to the person watching in a way. What I like about Bruce Lee that I share with him besides my background is Bruce Lee did not trap himself in a system and then figure out how to use it ... He figured out the concepts and movements he felt were good for him and his body and his context in any scenario ... Then from the concept of what he wanted he found what art that would be and just did it or created it or mixed several together ... But he started in intelligent working concepts from experience and his human sense and just went forward from what he had already learned utilizing the past knowledge as well. I appreciate his speed and skill as well, he came from a traditon of Kung Fu that appreciated flexibility in other forms and small power and directness ... And he taught us so much by demystifying and being direct about what was going on because he was so good like that, like Jeff Chan.

  • @davisbarr9112

    @davisbarr9112

    4 жыл бұрын

    Viberoc and Jeff Chan I do have a tip if it helps ... on the flock punch :) Probably not a big deal right now in MMA but ... So it can be used as worth it to add in that flicking circular backfist but in most wing Chun and jkd that cirular energy is considered wrong because the arc is slower and the spring energy is loaded up ... That can be worth it but it is faster if you do it very different God bless! So instead of your elbow travel being circular to put circular energy on the backfist you drive it forward only. And you don't have any circular or spring energy you just ... You still flick it ... But it is more like the centerline punch, it just goes straight ... There's no spring or springiness there's no arc your elbow flies straight the whole time and should not slow down you time the backfist to hit while it travels forward. I saw a tiny bit of springy loaded and circular energy and if that is worth it and it can be do what you like and what works for your concepts tactics and body ... But a lot of people in jkd and wing Chun use very straightened line versions of circular moves, it is a staple ... And it adds to speed. So you just ask what you want at that exact moment. You all are champs! Good luck!

The SPEED on his punches I'm not saying I don't have tricks to block that but that speed is nearly unlockable and the power and flexibility of his kicks. Yes ... He is doing great! God bless! His grappling was very smart as well he waited for the other person to move and played with what looked like a strength advantage they were both good, his opponent was not AS good he was not as good of a grappler and he was a decent grappler and he had good hands ... Not as good with kicks. Jeff Chan has been great so best wishes to win it all!

    Just be careful, training in MT for a few months is not enough to fully grasps its benefits and tactics. Especially if you are only training once or twice a week. Boxing is a great sport that all martial artist should train in but you will be very vulnerable in the clinch and serious leg kicks. My suggestion is to at least get a year or MT, so you have at least the basics of the foundation down, and then transition. Just my opinion.

    YoMama The straight lead is what it's actually called, greatest Bruce Lee's invention. And it's the best punch ever imo. Better than any boxing punch. The quickest, the fastest to land - requires the shortest distance, most unpredictable (you can vary the angle), and most powerful (when executed and timed correctly, it's a one punch KO punch, every time, because it's a whole body power punch, with a snap - you can twist it at the very end).

  • @jovanleon7

    @jovanleon7

    5 жыл бұрын

    YoMama Yes, and that is exactly the reason why Bruce Lee was so way ahead of his time, that even until today, the world still hasn't caught up on some of the greatest things he's mastered at that time. If only people knew how great that punch is and how to execute it correctly. Another example is the JKD sidekick, which is different than the TKD sidekick or any other sidekick. It's another whole body strike, this time with the leg. If trained properly (this kick is the reason why Bruce needed a 300 lbs heavy bag where he would increase the power of this kick so much) and executed correctly, it could literally kill someone upon impact. Just imagine Bruce kicking his 300 lbs bag hundreds of times every week with such speed and ferocity that the 300 lbs bag would finally thump the ceiling with one of his sidekicks. What would you think happen if his kick landed on a 260 lbs guy just standing there right in front of him?
