    LOVE how you take the time to demonstrate everything in different stance scenarios. This is the one thing I think other channels miss and leaves people confused as to how they can implement the techniques in their own game. Great video bro

    It would be pointless to fight like Conor if you don't have longer arms than your opponent. I'm not kidding. He's talented, but his _style_ is based around his control of distance and timing, and his ability to control for that is dependent on his very long arms. He'll keep his spine upright, like a karateka, and he'll use his right hand to sense, feint, or simply straight-arm and post. Don't bother trying to fight like him if you don't have his body type, is all.

    Another astute and insightful vid. Yeah, McGregor likes to throw jabs and strikes from unexpected directions, like that corkscrew upper ... reminds me a little of one of Mohammed Ali's unnamed moves where (if I remember correctly) he'd bob in slightly, feint his head low and inside, and as his opponent's eyes tracked him low he'd throw a fast looping overhand hook from outside to his opponent's temple, right at the edge of their peripheral vision. BTW, props for not editing out failed attempts ... love the honesty. Failure is the greatest teacher, and deserves repect.

    This is my first 'signature tactics' video.. these combinations and techniques seem really versatile, I feel like I'd have to use each one of these combos quite a few times during sparring to really understand how it works and when it would be useful. And you have so many of these! New subscriber, definitely interested in this type of content. also, with the single kick tactics, when would they be useful? For example, the shuffle leg side kick, spinning back kick, or spinning heel kick are all quite easy to see coming when not set up, and I don't have much success landing them. How would you make sure to land them, and when you do, how would you follow them up?

  • @MMAShredded

    @MMAShredded

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! I personally use the shuffle leg side kick as my opponent is about to move forward or off a jab. The lead side kick is obv much longer than your jab and if you are explosive enough you can catch your opponent. The spinning back kick is similar, I like throwing it when I can sense my opponent moving forward. And for the spinning heel kick, I personally do not practice it and quite honestly never landed it.

  • @skair5425

    thanks! I practice Muay Thai and one of the guys at the gym told me about a tactic where an opponent waits for you to move in with a Thai Hop (the move Saenchai tends to use a lot) and then throws a push-kick. So, is that the same idea? To understand the opponent's rhythm and throw one of these kicks at the exact moment he steps in?

  • @MMAShredded

    @MMAShredded

    Essentially yes. You can use the side kick in many other ways as well.

    I really like this one. I was hoping you would include his pawing strategy as that's a big part of his kit. I think his setups are really nice, and flow very well for his style. Having a bunch of tools in your toolbox, really makes you a well rounded fighter. I wonder do you take low percentage shots and try to make the percentages higher? or do you use them more situational? I learned some things are lower percentage on landing, But I've learned when to land those type of shots in certain situations to make their percentages go up. or am i the only one that things like this ?

  • @MMAShredded

    Solid breakdown, Especially how you show how it's applied in sparring against multiple opponents. One question I have though, you pointed out the cross counter off of the outside slip but no mention of it off the inside slip which is the traditional use of a cross counter, and a much harder shot that he uses far more often. He also uses alot of this whilst on the front foot pressuring them backwards, specifically he layers decoy jabs on the lead to bait a response then times that response with his cross counter (eddie alvarez and both diaz fights are a perfect example), a proactive based approach to an almost exclusively reactionary weapon, very rare and definitely worth mentioning, not to mention has the highest potential for a KO

    In general, I would avoid using the lead hook kick unless you train it to the level of van damme. It can be used against certain opponents to confuse them, but you have be powerful and precise with it, otherwise it is ineffective. The spinning side kick though is a great weapon, as you can see in MMAShredded's sparring - far more effective. I would suggest looking at "the Turkish Samurai" videos online to see how to use it offensively. But, you can use it in many other ways, too. For instance, one of my instructors, Jim Caldecourt (ISKA and WKMA world kickboxing champion), you can use it to control the ring craft. When you back someone up into a corner, they will either duck out to the left or to the right, let's say you are both orthodox fighters, he will move to your left, you can hit him really quick with a spinning side kick without moving half as much which can then back him up in the corner, if he moves to the left you hit him with a hard right round kick. This is part of the ring craft as you are then controlling where your opponent is and moving him onto your shots. You can also use it as a surprise attack, so in kickboxing if you are trading body shots you can put your weight on the front foot spring back with a jumping back spinning kick and catch them under the ribs, which then gives you distance so you can come in with a round kick, tip, jumping knee or something else that gets them off guard and breaks up that rhythm. In fact there are many ways to use that kick, but a great tool.

    For all these kicks setup is key. Jump scissor kick should be set up by landing some shuffle/stepping front teeps so they think body when you step and raise the knee. Skipping side kick is slow enough that all your sparring partners could catch or parry it, though you rechambered quickly enough in most cases. Use the same skip to hit some switch kicks to the lead leg to get them to plant and check.
