It's nice when a cover version is done well like Perry Como did and of course Andrea Bocelli- both very good.

I could listen to Andrea Bocelli sing just about anything and this certainly was no exception whatsoever. Bravo to the submitter and very nice review, Harri!

So beautiful! He’s amazingly talented. I saw him at the Fisher Theater in Detroit with Sarah Brightman as his guest and when they sang Time to Say Goodbye I was speechless 😱

I love the Perry Como version, that’s the only one I know. It was my mother’s favorite song. Andrea’s version is beautiful.

The song was written by a famous Mexican songwriter, Armando Manzanero. The original title Somos Novios means We are lovers (sweethearts), the words are 100 times more beautiful and romantic in the original Spanish. I do love Perry Como, he did it justice.

The studio version of this has him accompanied by Christina Aguilera. You should check it out. It's very good.

I have a story to tell you. Andrea started as a "demonstrater", singing samples of songs that producers wanted other artists to sing. A cd would be made of the song with Andrea singing, and the cd would be sent to the artist. Andrea's first hit was one of these samples. It was sent to Luciano Pavarotti, the greatest operatic singer of his time. Pavarotti sent the cd back with a note that said "You don't need me, you have him". There is a very lovely song that Andrea sings with his son, it goes something like "if you fall, I will be there to catch you". It will bring tears to your eyes. It is doubly touching, as Andrea needs assistance to walk on and off stage.
