    it does have little membranes from its elbow/knee joint to the stomach and side. the multiple areas with the addition of an unrestricted tail (you will notice the wings end right before the tail) along with the spine along it would allow for fast, agile and accurate movement in the water without hindering flight

    Since the dragon likely uses its wings as fins it would be a hinderence to have wings like a manta ray. It would be aesthetically correct, but more bat-like/traditional wings would allow it to swim much faster because it has more freedom of movement with its wings, it can put them forwards to forcw water back as it pushes along while only using its webbed feet for turning or when it doesnt need to cross a largw amount of water quickly. A common manta ray shape would force it to almost rely on ots legs and tail for movement on top of steering, and it would make the dragon much much slower

    My sorceress did... It started with a fight. She nearly drowned in his blood after the fighter critted with a javelin. She became a Half-Dragon after marinating in his blood while the party made several strength checks in order to move the dragon carcass pinning her body in the pool of blood she's drowning in. The Cleric almost got blasted by her new breath weapon when she woke up in a panic. And the bard failed a Dex save and was tripped by a flailing tail. And that was how our party saved a town from a dragon's tyrannical rule and how my sorceress went from a Chaotic Good Human to Lawful Good Bronze Half-Dragon. Unfortunately she didn't soak long enough to gain wings so I still had to wait to gain more levels in sorcerer for those.

    I believe there was at least one good red dragon in forgotten realms. It was raised by some magic user against his normal upbringing. Most dragons are raised by their parents from decades to hundreds of years. That is some intense conditioning. If a dragon could be raised outside of that or maybe encounter some deep existential epiphany then it could definitely act different.

    Ya know, ever since you began covering Metallic Dragons and exposing some of their worse traits, I realized tha Metallic Dragons would work wonders as Paladin PCs. Bronze Dragons would work specially well for this concept. Let's use that last scenario of yours as an example. After wiping out an entire city over it's for their differing takes on justice, Bahamut (who'd probably abhor such an act of violence, given his nature) would punish the Bronze Dragon by permanently polymorphing into a human paladin, without any of dragonic traits (i.e breath weapon), until he sees the error of his ways (which considering the Bronze's unflinching nature to their justice, would likely take an entire campaign to happen). There is sooooooo much roleplay potential to this. There are plently of ways the Bronze Dragon could react to the event all in itself. And then once he started travelling with a party (since this is a PC we're talking about), the conflicts the dragon would get himself into over it's way of justice compared to the party would be plenty interesting. The best part is that the DM wouldn't even have to worry about having a true dragon tag along with the party and trivialize encounters, since he'd be stuck as a normal paladin without any of the perks of being a dragon. My ramblings about roleplay potential aside, love this video. I cannot wait to hear what you have to say about Gold and Silver dragons in particular, since they (specially the former) are considered the paragons of metallic dragons.

    I'm currently roleplaying a Half-Elf draconic-origin sorcerer who used to be a Bronze Dragon 100s of years before meeting the rest of my party but "sinned" in a way so that one of the dragon Gods cursed him by forcing him to turn into a Half-Elf until he learned the error of his ways, only then could he turn back into what he once was. The only issue is that he has absolutely zero knowledge of what he once was, but me and my dm agreed that he would gain more memories of his past life as he leveled up and his personality would slowly alter to that as a bronze dragon with each level. And that is why I'm really glad this video was released, I swear this makes researching bronze dragons 10000000x easier.

  • @rjengar
    @rjengar5 жыл бұрын

    Oh my god, this gives me a great idea for my next player character! (If the DM allows) A lawful good paladin that is actually a bronze dragon in disguise. He'd gain his paladinic abilities from his own Draconic power. Like divine smight would be lightning aspected. And rather than sticking to an oath per see, it sticks to his own lawful interpretation of Good. He would gain levels like a normal character, but rather than his actual power, it is just him getting used to his polymorphed form. Subtle clues could give it away to the other players in the group, like insisting on fish or shark fin soup at an inn or refusing Gold for quests (Even though he really wants it) and ending up having to plead with the party members to buy a new set of armor. This could be so great! :DD

    Great video, this information is exactly what I needed! In my custom world I have a coastal city which is ruled by a Bronze Dragon from the shadows, it leaves the politics and debates to a council, as it has no interest in such matters. It's subjects know about the dragon, or rather they know there is a dragon living nearby and offer it treasures in a annual event in exchange for it's protection. The dragon sees the area as it's territory and would attack pirates and such regardless... but of course would never turn down such a generous offering, swooping in under the cover of night to take the riches to it's lair. I currently started a new campaign within the same world, and to start things off I have the party fight Sahuagin on a stormbattered ship on the southern edges of the dragon's domain. I was not aware Sahuagin are a Bronze's favourite humanoid food (since they taste like sharks) so things happily fell into place. I also haven't yet factored in the more tyrannical aspect of it's justice... perhaps i will do so at a later date. Also, I was unaware they would test people or rarely kill humans.. though that too makes sense. I love it when I find new information that just fits perfectly within the story. Thanks!

    It would be interesting to see one of those 'tyrannical bronze dragons' dealing with a paladin who disagrees with him. Unlike what a lot of people think, if a paladin gets in conflict between the 'lawful' and 'good' aspects of his alignment they will prioritize the 'good' part, that means that if an evil ruler orders a paladin to hurt an innocent the paladin can refuse without violating his oath of obeying legitimate rulers

    Maybe they don't repay the good will to the specific person who helped said dragon polymorphed into a beggar but instead repay it to crews and caravans under attack by pirates and bandits. Perhaps they see us softskins as a collective over a collection of individuals and sees repaying the good to someone else as a reward for another's good deed. My black dragonborn conquest paladin's sense of justice is very similar to that of a bronze dragon, not something I knew until I saw this video. When the party rolled into a town under the thumb of a tyrannical robber baron (who, despite his wickedness, was the legitimate ruler of this area and these people) and they arrived just as a hanging was being carried out. Some farmer had stolen food from the baron's cellars. My paladin, to the praise of the crowds and parties, cut him down after neatly dispatching the guards who impeded him. Then to the horror of the crowds and the party he proceeded to sever the farmer's right hand, cauterizing the wound with his blessed blade until the man passed out. This he proclaimed is the appropriate level of punishment for theft. Not a hanging. He then marched at the head of a slightly disturbed party right up to the baron's doorstep, proceeded to kill pretty much his entire household (any who resisted anyway) and dragged the baron into town and hung him for extortion, assault and rape; all of which were abuses he heaped on the folk he ruled. And then we left. It took a while for the party to get used to him but after a while they began to see things from his perspective.
