THANK YOU!!!!! This has been annoying us for awhile now. We used to be able to make it stop, but now it's almost constant. But for the first time in a long time, it was silent!! YAY!!!!! However I was only able to get just the purple wire out and it still worked.

I did this on my 2008 Infiniti QX56 and it worked great. It's a little tricky with the Infiniti because literally all the wires are black and it has over 10 wires going directly to the mirror, but I did it on the connection from the mirror to the door, not the actual control panel, so I can still fold my other mirror electronically. Thanks for this video!

  • @GarethBell

On a 2004 Funcargo/Yaris/Verso the colors were different, but it was also the 'right hand' wire (red and black stripe) to stop the mirrors from trying to fold in. I disabled one, and it stopped the noise/mirrors folding. It was tricky to get the metal spade out - I needed to 'push up' (away from metal) the white plastic pin that holds the metal spade in there. I made the mistake of pushing the metal pin around, rather than the white plastic. If you have an empty pin slot, look at/wiggle that, and see how easy it is to maneuver first.

@@DebtFreeCars What I ended up doing is buying some clear thin furniture "bumpers" from Lowes. I pulled the bottom three Allen screws off, pulled the mirror, strategically placed the rubber bumpers on the black housing, and then placed the mirror back on. There is enough friction to keep the mirror from moving around. The only reason I didn't pursue a repair is I figured if they both broke within 78K miles, and it was a common failure, I didn't want to fix what would be breaking again shortly.

06 Sienna, Passenger mirror, was making the noise. After trying to get the wires loose with a small pin(the ones that dress shirts often come with) I defaced the plastic piece enough that, I just used a small screw driver to push the wire spade out through the hole(not the T hole) next to the where the pin would be inserted to unlock the spade. I only removed the purple wire. Both mirrors retraction's now are disabled, but i have the mirror adjustment functions UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT. I am going to keep an eye on the van and hope this does not cause a short or draw on the battery. Electricians, let me know if i need to do the other wire.

Hi there - can you tell me which wires to pulls out if it’s the driver side mirror that won’t stop making noise? It’s so annoying I need it to stop! Lol

Yes! One wire is for left and the other for the right. Just have to take one off and see if it stopped the right one. If it didn’t then put back the pin and remove the other one and try it again.

I accidently left the button on the Left on the Left , Right switch panel so now I hit the button L , R it didn't work anymore ,and couldn't heard the sound of the motor supposed to be while moving the mirror. It seems that the battery of the switch panel was drained out ? How can I fix it ?

Thanks Revved up Knowledge!!!!! When I start my 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser the driver's side mirror rotates forward too far. I have to reach through the window and bring it back to the normal position. Do you think one of the wires in the bundle behind the mirror switch goes to that rotator for the mirror? I'd like to disconnect it and still have a functioning mirror. Thanks

Thank you for watching!!! From what I can see from searching online for your mirror switch, it seems like there are two plugs on the mirror switch itself. One bigger plug for the glass functions and one smaller one for the folding function. If that’s the case then you can simply unplug the little plug! Correct me if I’m wrong though! I wish I had access to your model so I can take a peak behind the switch to confirm if it’s true!! Please let me know!

Hi@@RevvedUpKnowledge , looks like I only have one plug behind the switch with many colored wires. I probably just need to figure out which wire to cut.

Best way to figure it out is with a test light, probing each wire one by one and pushing the folding button to see which one lights up. Should be two
