Lyrics:
we’re bound to wait all night
she’s bound to run amuck
invested enough in it anyhow
and to each his own
the garden is sorting out
she curls her lips on a bow
and I don’t know if you're dead or not
if you're anyone
c’mon and get the minimum
before you open up your eyes
this army has so many heads to analyze
c’mon and get your overdose
collect it at the borderline
and they want to get up in your head
cause they know and so do Ithe high road is hard to find
a detour in your new life
tell all of your friends good bye
the dawn to end all nights
that’s all we hoped it was
a break from the warfare in your house
but to each his own
a soldier is bailing out
he curled his lips on a barrel
and I don’t know if the dead can talk
to anyone
c’mon and get the minimum
before you open up your eyes
this army has so many hands
are you one of us
c’mon and get your overdose
collect it at the borderline
and they want to get up in your head
its too late to change your mind
you’ve let loss be your guide

I jammed this when it came out. Nonstop. I forgot about it My son and his mother were killed in a car accident. I was driving to Arkansas where my son caught his last fish of his 4 year life. This song came on and it made sense to me. Miss you Christian and Jen

I can't believe it's been 13 years.
I haven't heard this song since shortly after it was released, but I remember loving the vibe. If I recall, it used to play in our home theater section when I worked at Best Buy. So tonight I'm driving back home on a 10 hour round trip, and I was turned around on a country road due to a fire. Detoured back through a little back woods town, and got to a fork in the road with a high road and a low road, and said to myself "I'm taking the high road!" I then instantly remembered this song after all these years and had to come back for a listen 😁
It took me years to find this song after hearing it once in a store
This song sends me somewhere where there is no more hurt. I dont know why.
2024 yeah it's a groove. Say it with me
I love this...I forgot the name and searched for 45 minutes for this song and found it with these words..."Come out and get the Minimum"...
I've been listening intently to James Mercer for 20 years, and to this song for at least 10, and just now in 2021, it finally makes sense! 💛💛💛💛💛

Damn this song is so underrated
Personally I feel the song is about PTSD, Stress, Suicide. something along those lines. Like the thoughts of someone saturated in depression and desperation to escape and possible acceptance to the outcome. This is what I hear, feel, and get from the lyrics. Clamoring and groveling for the high road we have our eyes set on. - Goldfish
