Just the way it is sometimes.
Glad you found a more fluid less stressful way to make money off your ideas and creativity - its an ongoing daily battle for many of us. Figuring out the same myself. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day!

Thank you Ashley. I’m sure you’ll find the answers too.
I stopped writing a couple years ago. As in, after 9 business books, 9 mysteries, a children's book, and a couple experimental things, plus over 200 songs, it became work instead of joy. All the years I was doing that stuff as a business, I never sold enough books to cover what I paid an occasional designer and editor; never paid even a small portion of the cost of musical equipment, never had more than a dozen true fans. It was a hard decision, but it was impossible to go on that way. And the past year, what with having an adrenal gland removed (fun! now includes massive hormonal disruption!) and a related heart attack (fun! now includes, erm, the heart attack thing) and attendant physical and mental health issues (except, to be honest, that my chronic depression was CURED by removing the broken adrenal gland) I'm glad I wasn't trying to pour my heart into one more book or song to be thrown into the black pit of nowhere.

@@DaveConrey Like you, I have a world class wife, and I also have the world's greatest spiritual/emotional support network. Just wish I'd figured more stuff out before my social security days ;)
Totally understand what you mean Dave. Went through the same thing with my KZread channel, that hamster wheel analogy is spot on. Glad to hear that you're pushing forward and finding better alternatives.

indeed, thanks.
Love this video and your honesty. Burnout is real. I’m so glad you got the support you needed to find a better way of working.

Thank you Allison.
what you have is a strong team structure, having your wife stepping up to help you work through your crisis, great partner at one side is key life when dealing with the weight of life and I have no doubt you are don't hesitate to be there for her either. I will say, very few people would had taken a step back being disrespected like that on the phone. that's BS but karma will even it out in the end. the correction has been made now let's see what this produces in your creativity ;)

Not sure fun is the word I'd choose, but I'm glad I found it.

Would it make you feel better to know that I just got my book proof back from the printer? Thank you for helping me get it to this point.

I had one. Nobody signed up. The Substack is basically the same thing as Patreon for me, but I get the added benefit of being able to send out email blasts to people instead of forcing them to come to my page to see stuff.
