This is the diet of a marathoner. I eat as much as I can whenever I can. I do not track calories, the only thing I really pay attention to is making sure I get enough protein in for the day. If you don't eat enough you won't reach your potential as a runner. You will be susceptible to injury and burnout. Figuring out when to eat and how much before runs can be a difficult thing and often times is trial and error.

@@andrewcra Why would one need a high-carbohydrate diet to run 100 miles a week? Carbohydrates are not required for volume; they’re required for intensity. If 20 of those 100 miles are in the form of repeat quarters, then Yes, you’re going to need a lot of carbs. But if it’s 100 miles of “marathon training”, then I don’t know why there would be any special need for carbs to be a high percentage of calories.

If your goal is to have a very low BMI, so be it. But if you want to be the fastest distance runner that you can be, there is a lower limit to how low that BMI should be, and if you try to go below it your performance will suffer. And for most people, if your BMI falls below about 19.2-19.3, you’re not going to have the energy resources necessary to train and run optimally. Hormone levels get out of whack, recovery suffers, and performance crashes.

I was a collegiate runner myself, and I graduated in post covid 2020, and currently hold my high school's records for distance track and cross country. I remember finding out about you first on one of your Instagram shorts of you running a couple of months back. I've been following you ever since then for some time, I stumbled upon Your KZread somehow not too long ago, and I LOVE YOUR KZread CONTENT AND I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!! As a fellow hardcore serious runner, we understand the pain, grit, courage, and determination it takes to get every single mile in that your haters will never comprehend just how much of a badass you are!! ultimately bro I loved that one video where you were talking about your marathon experience, and what I deeply related to in that video is that it's not all about becoming a pro runner it's all about the love for competing, and getting faster itself!! I love and respect all your content Adam, and I am here for you brother! man I do wish we could even run, and train sometime lol as I do want to compete in a marathon myself ohh what a delightful fantasy. I did have one important question though, which I would love to know your opinion on, which is what does your future experience of running look like? like after your done competing etc what more do you plan on doing? because even myself I want to be an inspiration for others through running itself too through telling my own story, and experience of how I have overcome great adversity and trials of life through running, and I plan on taking this goal myself even further for many more years to come. Much love my bro stay blessed! You are well on the right path to success in life with your mindset! I always preach and tell my people that the same work ethic, power, and determination us runners have to be able to put an immense amount of miles in everyday can be well put into all other areas of life!

@@AdamWoodRuns listen. You're running on cortisol and it's leading to muscle catabolism. You're not strong enough for the volume you're attempting period. Your diet is making it worse. You're burning muscle and since your protein intake is so low and it's not animal protein You're causing muscle damage due to choline deficiency. It's not normal to be beat up just from running despite weighing 90 pounds. But more than anything. All the carbs and volume are depleting your thiamine massively and preventing any and all potential muscle gain as well as spiking cortisol even more. Exacerbating it all. More protein. No carbs. Lots of vegetables. Strength train and lay off all that cardio because ultimately weak Is weak. And you can become stronger without losing the ability to run??? Stronger muscles only help you run longer and stronger. You don't need to bulk. Not that you could but you're going to literally die. Just saying

It’s impressive that you maintain such a low BMI… but it probably isn’t optimal for your running. If you were to gain just 5 lbs of muscle and fat, you would go from a BMI of 18.5 to 19.4, and your running would likely improve. Very few athletes operate optimally at BMIs below 19.0. (And yes, that includes distance runners.)

why are you just eating "a little bit of protein" when you exercise so much and that thin? That much exercise plus the bodies own breakdown needs a lot of protein to rebuild and repair. You are not eating nowhere near enough to rebuild and repair all the damage caused by exercise. Banana, fruit, yoghurt does zilch to repair muscles, ligaments joints. You need 3 protein rich meals a day.

Hey - forget the haters. That being said, have you thought about prepping? The problem with figuring it all out on the fly is you can miss important nutrients or sacrifice quality for convenience. I’m starting to prep 20 meals on Sundays for my wife and I to eat during the week. It’s been going well. Might help when you’re on the move and need to eat good food quickly.

6:12 a very short 'anabolic window' has been mostly disproven. I think the actual window goes a few hours after a workout, and it can be negated by protein pre-workout. I do always get a shake or protein bar in though, just because I always feel somewhat hungry/empty after. Also mica is not weird. I like seeing someone enjoy their food

As a runner, who served as well. Protein is the key, followed by Carbs. Your body needs alot of protein to help with recovery. I did morning PT at 0600, ran 4 miles after at 70-85 percent race pace, did 15 sets of pull ups, 10 sets of push ups, and 20 mins of core work. I found the key to be protein, alot, I mean carbs helped but to feel fresh protein is needed.

Always tryn to eat a bunch of meals since I don't eat a huge amount of food at a time. Still working full time and hitting 60-75mpw. I'm guessing most of these people couldn't even hang with me for a week let alone all that you do. Keep grinding!
