When anyone pronounces it “Appa. Lay sha”, he becomes inauthentic. It’s “Appa latch a”. These are the descendants of the Scots and the Irish. The English are in there somewhere. If you study their accents, you’ll hear vestiges of those accents.

What "media" are trying to persuade you that we don't have the same "sensibilities"--whatever that means? These are decent people who have been grifted about what is truth, what is "real America"--hey, I thought I was a real American having been born here and lived here for 67 years. Many of my friends hunt. My college roommate was a CEO of a major gun manufacturer and we are as close as ever. But I want constitutional gun legislation. I am anti-abortion (I don't like it), but pro-choice--legislatures are not qualified nor should they have the power to force women to carry a pregnancy to term, or make women's health decisions. I think Donald Trump is a neo-fascist, narcissistic, pathologically lying, grifting, piece of human excrement. My Father served in the Korean War, my Uncle earned a Bronze Star and purple heart in WWII (Battle of the Bulge), and one of my best friends was a combat veteran in the jungles of Vietnam (70'-71'). I think gay (and LGBTQ) people should have the same rights as straight people--the exact same. Do you think they would say I am part of "real America"?--a term they used. Hey, I want the best for them--do you really think they want the best for Americans who are different from them? I can easily see them taking their weapons to DC to attack the Capital during constitutional national certification of an 50-state certified election--which is the MOST un-American thing a person can do. Can't you?

I was a boy scout in NY and we went to a range at some boy scout camp and shot 22 riles I was about 11 or 12. I never grew up around guns but my grandpa had a pistol he carried as part of his job. Now that I reside in Florida, I could buy almost any gun I wanted. People down in the south shoot guns as young kids and most join the military and become great marksmen. In northern NY, I walked into my friend's family home for dinner one night and his family had about 60 rifles in a gun cabinet in the living room. His family loved to shoot on the weekends

My big brothers were out practicing playing baseball and broke my window. We couldn't afford to have it fixed, so Mom put us some plastic sheeting till we could get a hold of the home owner as we only rented there. I was only 5 years old the day that happened and what followed that same night or real early morning of the next day. I saw a very tall man just walk through my bedroom floor to ceiling window, not see me, but go down in our basement. Now you have to understand that when the man who rented us this house built it, it was during the depression. So, when he earned extra money he would put it into jars and go downstairs in our basement and literally brick an area in the would meet the amount of jars he filled. So 40 years later he had quite a stash of money in the basement. Well it got around town and my uncle nailed shut the outer door so no one could come from the outside into the basement; or so we thought. This man came right through my room and walked himself down the basement stairs. I put the chair against the door and locked him in the basement. I woke Mom up she told my oldest brother to get the gun and call the Police. We actually had two guns, a long-rifle ,22, and a gas gun that carried 22 gas gun shells in it. Those were Police Issued Only but we had a lot of Police Officers in our family...so we got one. And way, when the Police came to take the man and lock him up for doing his third home invasion that night; the guy told us that he was going to come back and kill us all when he got out of prison! He came for us. But while he was in prison, me only being a 5-year old little girl, I learned to shoot the .22 long rifle really well. Now I have a way bigger and more powerful gun and so do my brothers because he still has tried to hurt us or just scare the tar out of us. Let me put it this way, he came around our house on July 4thm thinking that he could hide out till we got home. What he didn't know is we were sitting in the dark watching our neighbors shooting off fireworks. So, I pulled out my .357 and aimed it right at his head; I couldn't shoot him because he was on our property yet, but he ran for an old man pretty dang quick and now you know why some kids have to learn to shoot weapons very early in life. We don't see it as a fun thing unless we are shooting at my brother's open air shooting range. But before we leave the range we shoot the length of our house; which is closer than we usually practice but that is in case he gets in our house ever again He followed us from where he was convicted of the crime to the state we live in now! So, yeah, having a gun can be for sport, fun, or for saving your life against a psychotic maniac hell bent on killing your family.

West Virginia and East Tennessee are probably more Hillbilly than Redneck.Pretty good choice though, north of east Tennessee in that part of Kentucky is Deep Hillbilly land.Towards Memphis you get into Elvis Land which is more Redneck.West Virginia butts up to the surprisingly Appalachian part of Pennsylvania which is probably as far culturally from Philly(New York type culture)as maybe London is from somewhere like Yorkshire. The same country but folks are different. As for guns, the most common guns are handguns and shotguns and hunting rifles.People aren't randomly running around with military type weapons.Handguns are for defending your house or person from criminals mostly, shotguns for varmints like raccoons trying to eat your chickens or ducks and hunting rifles for Deer in season.Venison is still eaten in this part of the country. The red and black tattoos resemble Native American face and body paint.
