The reason Mexican and Middle Eastern commentators talk a lot, it's because they are actually describing everything that is happening because sometimes it is or they are used to broadcasting through the radio since not everyone owns a TV in some of those countries.

also keeping it 100. a lot of poorer people in those countries don't waste money on TVs. people go to local bars to watch the game. So even if you're outside and can just hear it you'll have a good grasp of whats going on.

I'm not so sure about that. There's specific radio programs commentating the games that aren't affiliated with the TV broadcasters. At least here in Argentina. I think it's just the style that was inherited from last century from when there was only radio to broadcast the games, also for sure there were less TVs back then. TDLR Basically the style of radio broadcast ported over to TV some years ago, not that there aren't enough TVs.

I agree, and it's been a long road. There has been great talent in the US since the 1980s, but nobody was looking for players here. Rob and Rich Ryerson, Bruce Murray, Darryl Gee, Rick Davis, Tab Ramos, John Harkes, etc. Although none of those players would be considered superstars in world football, their generation did pave the way for later players. They did well enough that European clubs starting paying attention to players in North America.

Lots of college players that are starting to branch into soccer as well, or from soccer into other sports. So, it's a good base to grow on, just need this generation to get old and watch the actual US team as well lol. Need to figure out whether it's National, college, or club though.

@@mverick5444 Have you been living under a rock for the last 20 years? The MLS has seen growth in attendance every single year for the last two decades, including a stretch where the big four all saw attendance declines. Youth programs have almost tripled as a result, and it's become very popular in areas where it used to have no foothold like Atlanta and Ohio. They are barely behind hockey numbers-wise at this point. Is it like Europe? No, still quite a ways to go for that. Your claim that it's "relegated to girls in school" is hilariously stupid, though. Sounds like something people said back in the 70's.

***MEXICAN HERE*** There is no such thing as a “homophobic chant”, people think that “Puto” has one meaning and one meaning only but it does not. I thought they chanted that word that is similar to "J". Because that would make sense. Puto to me growing up was always female dog (,towards women) or prostitute. It kind of translates into weak males right? Doesn't bother me, better then piss in a bottle 😂. This is from Univision which is a Spanish language US based communications company/channel. These particular highlights (at least what is being show on your channel) fail to show the fights, the amount of thrown bottles from Mexican fans (at both teams and hitting players), and the stoppage in play from the chant already mentioned (it's done on opposing goalie punts at the international level). Having lived in Mexico City, the Mexican fans are known to throw bags of piss, batteries, bottles, etc. You don't sit in the open air...you sit under something or at the top, especially if you're American...even at a Liga MX match and especially during El Clasico in Estadio Azteca which is very vertical in orientation. In the US, there are typically so many Mexican fans in the US that they tend to sell out ahead of US fans, making US home matches against Mexico almost like playing in Mexico, especially out west. Some US stadium layouts make the Mexican cup/bottle throwing more effective than others. FYI, US stadiums don't do glass bottles, only plastic which can still smart. There is long history of rough matches and close matches since they're both typically 1-2 at the top of CONCACAF. Landon Donovan pissing on the field in Estadio Azteca which ROYALLY pissed off Mexican fans a few years ago comes to mind.

the spanish commentators have US and American fans. They are pros. They cheer on both sides. Claudia Reyna played for Rangers, too. Gio Von Borckhurst was like his best friend. Gio Reyna, the son, is named for VOn Brockhurst. The US highlights showed parents Claudio and Daniella, I think, the mom, also an athlete, celebrating his FIRST goal for USMNT.

When Pulisic scored the pen, the US team went to the Mexican fans in the corner and were pelted by drink bottles. Lots of them. There were several near fights from that point to the Horvath penalty save. Really a crazy, crazy game. Oh, and that was the Spanish language station you were watching. I believe ESPN did the English language coverage.

An epic narration was Christian Martinoli's narration during the last hexagonal matches for the 2014 World Cup CONCACAF World cup qualifiers. Mexico playing away in Costa Rica with Mexico needing a win or Panama to loose against the USA in order for Mexico to advance to a playoff against New Zealand for the last World Cup spot. They cut out so much. Fans were throwing bottles and cans at the players a few times and Gio Reyna got hit in the head with a full can while celebrating the Pulisic goal. There were a couple scrums, the Mexican coach was thrown out of the game for touching the ref during a VAR check, as you saw Steffen was injured, the game was back and forth all night, and was even stopped because of slurs chanted by some fans. There was so much drama. I’m a relatively new soccer fan but it was one of the best games I’ve ever seen!

Spanish commentating is full of passion. You can get up to grab a bite to eat or use the bathroom and you will come out running back towards the TV when you hear the goal scream. British commentators are boring and if you step away you'll never know that a goal was scored because they literally don't say anything other than "its in". Tbh, I hate English commentary and prefer the Spanish one lol. They narrate the game to a T so even if you're not looking for whatever reason you still now what's happening.

The thing is, this one's shit, it was supposed to be hosted in Colombia and Argentina but both countries had problems with protests and covid respectively so it's being hosted in Brazil, 5 stadiums and in the last two games there were 2 teams with positive cases Oh and no public lol
