The local court finally gave her kids to the father who fought for the last 15 years to get the kids. Only reason he got is because she's doing 10 years up state.

Custody in the USA is a fahking mess. It's a serious mess. Even if the father is able to provide and is in much better standing to care for his children, it's very unlikely he will be awarded custody. Even if the mother is a homeless, worthless, POS. Personal experience for me on this one, CPS and the justice system in regards to family and divorce courts.

I remember reading a mandatory appeal case to the California Supreme Court in the 1990s. Mandatory appeal cases are death penalty cases. The case involved a mother and her lesbian lover being convicted of the torture murder of a 4 year old boy. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's investigator said it was the worst case of child abuse he'd seen in over thirty years as an officer in LA County. The evidence showed a long pattern of extensive torture and abuse over many months that led to death including cigarette burns, broken bones, internal injuries, and internal scarring. These things happen regardless of any categories that people are put into such as male or female because some people are just sheer evil no matter what origin they come from. The case never got any publicity and I only heard about it since I was reading the law reports of the time.

I have said it over and over again. It's easy to blame the police or the "system." But, the problem ALWAYS lies with the LEGISLATORS who are responsible for making and changing the law. The "system" in THIS case did what it was designed to do, whether good or bad because they were pretty much following the laws that were on the books at that time. The legislators are responsible for creating, ratifying or adjusting those laws for the overall safety and security of the people, and they did NOT in this case, and they SHOULD have. The sad part is, according to DCF workers I spoke to when I was doing security at a DCF branch in South Florida years ago, cases like these are pretty routine since the courts typically follow and abide by the laws that are on the books at that given time. But, again, legislators often fail to make the necessary changes to the law that provide the safety and protection of the innocent. Either they are reluctant, unwilling, or too cowardly to do so. As a result innocent children and the most vulnerable people in society are usually placed in serious danger and risk.

@@randallshelp4017 according to the administration of children and families, some states can keep a portion of support payments AND they get federal reimbursements for every collected child support payment. So yes, they do make money from forced child support payments. They also get money from the court proceedings to adjust or argue for or against rulings. Thats why often they will demand the father pay more than even the mother is asking for. The state of FL forced my mother to put my dad on child support to qualify for healthy kids insurance. So my dad would “pay” my mom $2000 each month and she would give him back most of the money bc we were teens and if we needed anything we were able to communicate that to him. If your ex partner is a responsible person, use child support as a last ditch option. Its a borderline pyramid scheme for both parties, intentionally pitting families against each other.

10:09 The problem Daz with your statement. Is that these judges have to answer to no one evidently. We've seen it with these local criminal cases all the way up to cases involving federal judges and even the Supreme Court. They don't respect the public so why should they feel the need to explain their reasoning to plebians such as you and I? If only the people could do things that would demand the government's respect or even fear of it's people. Hopefully one day. I'll just here and keep dreaming about it till then

Sadly, CPS in this country will give a terrible mother every chance they can to ruin their children. My brother went through the same thing. Took him 12 years to get his girls from their mother. It wasn't until the hundredth time she was arrested with drugs and bottles of her and her boyfriends piss that they were drinking to get high again. That's the level it took before she lost the kids.

@@aaronwetzel1981 I'm very familiar as I live there as well. Dakota & Ramsey counties have lots of issues - my husband dealt with Dakota county courts for child support & visitation scheduling for his 1st kid & it definitely wasn't pleasant. CPS, social services & the courts put VERY heavy weight on reunification and unfortunately for some kids that is definitely NOT in the child's best interest. The same can be said for conservative states as well. South Dakota comes to mind - my brother in law fought for YEARS to get his ex out of his kids' lives as she was extremely neglectful, dangerous, abusive & selfish. My niece was sexually assaulted numerous times over a weekend at age 6 by the "babysitter" their mom had left them with for those 3 days - a guy she literally met on the street & only knew for 6 hours prior. Even THAT didn't stop the system from giving her unsupervised visitation with them. It took my brother in law 3 more years of hell dealing with social services, CPS & the courts before he finally won full custody of all 5 kids(2 weren't even biologically his) & she had all of her parental rights terminated permanently. Kids were in counseling for years & still deal with that trauma she inflicted on them. South Dakota is EXTREMELY conservative & they kept giving the woman chance after chance after chance after chance. The entire system needs fixing.

Actually you are completely wrong. Old fashioned policy was to always reunite with the mother, not the father. And the reason child protective services doesn't have sufficient resources is because of Refucklican tax cuts, and not taxing the rich their fair share amount. Leave it to a sub-human garbage person conservative to politicize this, instead of suggesting the way to solve it.

Sadly this isn’t the first time that Minnesota protective services has failed in protecting children from abuse and neglect as a adopted child I know all too well that even adopted parents have been found being abusive towards children and even the children tell the police and county service staff and they don’t listen. Even foster parents have been violent and abusive towards the kids. Only caring for the money they got from the state which is for caring for the child not for them to spend on themselves. We need better mental health evaluations and more people checking homes of fostering parents and parents and tougher laws for violations. I’m tired of these idiots in our government not listening to the people who do truly care for the innocent children. Why do you think kids in the system runway it’s not because they want to sleep outside there’s honestly, something wrong and it should be investigated. So yeah I was very upset when I saw this on the news. My heart goes out to the father and family who lost a loving child no one should have to suffer pain like this.

The court system is NOT fair with gender equality when it comes to these things. The mother can be strung up on drugs, while the father is a respected doctor, yet most likely the child we stay with her simply because she’s female and also because they know they’ll get more child support from him meaning more money for them. It’s sick and I think there is a special place in Hell for her and the officials that continued (and still continue) to let her and other women have custody of children they can’t take care of simply because of money and what’s between their legs.

Hell, I'd say 80%+ of the mentally ill are living on the streets in this country. I worked at a grocery store right downtown in Indianapolis (O'Malia's) when I was young and the homeless shelter was 200 yards away. We had tons of homeless come in to use our bathrooms and almost 100% of them were insane. I was standing by the office talking to the girl I was dating at the time, that also worked there, when a homeless guy came up to her and said he was Elvis and he had come straight from New York. He was a 30 something year old black guy who smelled like a foot and cat litter so I knew he was lying about being Elvis. Anyway, he pulls a rusty knock-off samurai sword out of his sweat pants and tries to stab her. I was standing right there and had already started moving in between him and her. I grabbed his coat sleeve near his wrist to get control of his hand with the sword so he drops it and pulls back and down and slides out of the coat. He then turned and ran out of the store. He was later caught by police but was out of jail within 3 days. Prosecutor wouldn't even try to charge him because he wouldn't be mentally fit to face trial. There are hundreds more just like him wandering the streets of every major city. We need to bring back the institutions for those that can't care for themselves and have nobody else.
