    Also if you get below 40 you can be awarded an unclassified degree which is second up from a fail or below a third - well that’s what I got when I received my degree - didn’t work hard enough unfortunately. But an unclassified even though not an honours is still classed as a pass and I did get awarded a degree certificate . Although these days anything lower than a 2.2 is classed as useless in getting graduate positions.

    a 2:1 is still hard to get (50% of students achieve this)... a 1st (24%)... basic math would mean you are 74% likely to get a first or a 2:1... so that basically means it's hard to be in the 75% of students that get their degree? Not trying to undersell someone's achievements but: that's still a pretty high average to get a 1st or 2:1 after graduation.

  • @missfarry3222
    @missfarry32223 жыл бұрын

    wait, what do you mean 'to get a 1st you must get 70% or above for all of your assessment'? as in you mean each of the modules you are studying for the 3 years you need to each get a 70% or above? does getting 2:1 in some modules affect your overall degree class? I am so confused.

    Heya, so I graduated with a 1st in 2019. Basically you don't have to get 70% in all of them, but your overall average needs to be 70%+ to get a 1st. However, in most cases first year doesn't go towards your final grade, you just need to pass. Then, the 2nd year counts towards 25% of your final grade, and then the third and final year is 75% of your grade. Hope this helps!

  • @MindTheGrad

    @MindTheGrad

    No, they are a bit different... The boundaries for master's are usually 50% for a pass, 60% for a merit and 70% for a distinction! So it is an easier system, but you need 50% to pass, as opposed to 40%!

    Mind The Grad , thanks for reply . I am asking you because in my country grades are define in percentages but when I applied in Kingston university their requirement are 2:1 degree, 2:2 degree , so that's why I was bit confuse .

    i think rather than getting a 3rd degree , better have none. getting a 3rd means you are a poor student whereas having no degree means you haven't done one yet (can always be used as an excuse as a suppose).
