Since you like the log slices, you might enjoy the glimpse of the locker room in this video (1:25) , from before our last championship (didn't win, alas, and we lost on penalties). Anyway, while the guys might preserve their first log slice, most of the time they just stack up around the training room. You can see that they're used as door stops and haphazard tables. It's fun!

It was a truly amazing night for us. Everything about that entire playoff run seemed surreal. The magic was real.

So my thoughts on goalkeeper penalties is that it's actually pretty interesting. They know what makes a difficult penalty to block more than anyone, AND the other team has basically know idea which side they prefer going to.

I was at that match by a fluke. A workmate contacted me while on my way home to see if I wanted to go. I was on the streetcar loop at the time. Looped around the city to see the most exciting game ever.

I couldn't agree more about the stress that comes with penalties, regardless of if I even care who wins! My club, Real Salt Lake, has been to the MLS Cup finals twice, winning one in penalties (2009 against Landon Donovan and Beckham's LA Galaxy), and losing one in penalties (2013 against Sporting Kansas City). Retired RSL keeper, Nick Rimando, was incredible and holds 4 or 5 records. If you can find highlights from the match at KC you should check it out. The way it ended was bonkers. I'm still salty about it all these years later, ha.

I hate penalties to settle any non-regular season game. Total crap shoot, tho at least in hockey the goalie has a fighting chance. Just put another 20:00 on the clock & keep playing until someone scores.

I don’t mind it but I’m not a football (soccer) enthusiast. It is the purest test of your players, does your team work with all of their players. It is like watching your pitcher hitting a walk-off home run. What would happen if both keepers scored

@@hifijohn Few here care about soccer? Are you kidding? True its not as big here as the NFL or MLB but soccer is growing here rapidly. New teams are being formed all the time and even a whole new league (NISA). MLS is adding 4 new teams by 2023-24. Also the 2018 MLS Cup outsold the Super Bowl that year and the Euros this year had very high ratings in the US. In 10 years who knows what will happen.
