British Rail 1997-Doncaster, and Bridlington with its Semaphore Signalling Classes HST/56/91/142/321

It's June 1997 and i'm in Yorkshire. We start at Doncaster and see GNER class 91, Inter-City Cross Country Inter-City 125 HST and a Leeds Metro Class 321 EMU on passenger trains along with a pair of Loadhaul class 56 'Grids' running light engine. Next we are in Bridlington to see the signal boxes along with semaphore signalling. The only traction seen here are the Leyland National on rail wheels, the class 142 Pacers! Used to live near Doncaster. Goole had lots of trains with the docks . Bridlington my dad lived there. Station used to be really bissy holiday makers .

A fantastic insight of what the railways were like at what was an interesting era just after privatisation. 😊 Bridlington was my local station for a few years from 2011-2014 back when it was mostly 158's and the odd 150 and 153 and now it's mostly 170's and 155's, a far cry from the days of Pacers!

Splendid mate! 2 of the 5 Loadhaul 56's that eluded my mars bar snapping device back then :)

Great stuff as always Soi! I started work on the railway in 1996 and worked through Doncaster frequently, so it was brilliant to see it in that era again. And Brid still with ash ballast in places 👍

Northern also used to use the Class 322 that were used on the Doncaster-Leeds route and cascaded from Stansted Express and were also used on ScotRail on the Edinburgh Waverley-Dunbar & North Berwick lines.
