The Red Bird candy seems to be a variation of butter mints (which actually don’t taste very buttery). This style of soft mint is a common after dinner offering, especially at weddings. The fluffy crunchy melt away texture is from the use of confectioners sugar being mixed with the butter, into a dough that is air dried and not cooked (unlike hard boiled candy).

Those puff candies are meant to melt in your mouth. They also have a cherry flavor out for Valentine’s Day. Pringle’s used to have wavy ones in the 80’s but they quit making them by the 90’s. I’m glad they brought them back because I missed them.

Yes, Chex is cereal first. Chex Mix in the bag is okay in a pinch but homemade is where it's at. And the peppermint puffs are my fav, but you don't really bite them. you just let them melt away.

This With Them awww thank you so much unfortunately I’m in the hospital until further notice my pneumonia got very bad so I don’t know when I’ll be able to go home. Hospitals just make me nervous especially when you have to stay here.

The deal with Chex mix is that it is a breakfast cereal from 1937. Way back in 1952, they ran an ad in Life Magazine with the recipe for Chex Mix, when it was popular to make TV watching snacks out of cereal. It became the most popular and remained so for 33 years before they started sell the mix directly.

I love both Queen Anne's and Cella. I feel the Cella is a bit more subtle without the white cream and sometimes that can be nice, especially if you are indulging a lot around the holidays! So fun, and I agree, this box had great choices! :)

Chex cereal has rice, corn and wheat I believe, each sold separately. I think in the 70's they promoted a recipe on the box for a mix you added Worcestershire sauce butter and peanuts and baked. It became a big hit! Not sure when Chex Mix became available on the market but they keep coming up with new flavors. I remember one of the first things my Mom let me cook alone was the original recipe when I was young!

I am a Cella's girl all the way ... the Queen Anne have a cream filling which for me is far too sweet where the Cella's have the liquid filling and it's not too sweet, however the chocolate on the Cella's seems a little too waxie to me now, they used to be better. They do have a peanut butter Chex mix. The bold flavor are my favorite and then the sour cream. And cordial cherries are one of my favorites. You can get them anytime, but I only have them at Christmas- like fruitcake. Lol. Good video, and as always have a good week.

You can still get rice, corn, and wheat Chex breakfast cereal, and I ate them back in the 60's. The Chex mix recipe used to be on the back of the box, (may still be, have'nt looked in ages) All I remember in the recipe was butter and Worcestershire sauce...and maybe salt?

Your welcome the best part with the recipe is you can add anything you like and leave out what you don’t like in the bag mix and did you know that when russel Stovers fist came they were considered to be the more expensive chocolate

I tried the Russel Stover Champagne & Strawberries for the first time today. I was attracted to the packaging and champagne & strawberries in a marshmallow heart. I thought it was delicious, but a tiny bit sweeter than the other Russel Stover marshmallow hearts.

Fellas is pronounced like 'cello'. My daughter and I love those and won't try any other brand. Its the clear center, really.

The chocolate peanut butter Chex mix is called Muddy Buddies and it is the best one!

My husband just showed me this channel. He's a picky, picky eater, and most of what I have seen he would never touch. I'm enjoying the show, and find it funny that you both eat off the same items. I wouldn't even share with my husband, might be my older sister OCD on cleanest that has rubbed off on me. Thanks for the enjoyable show, can't wait to check out more of them.

Check mix does have an AMAZING peanut butter kind! They are called muddie buddies and they are the little chex pieces rolled in peanut butter and chocolate and coated in powdered sugar, they are so good and just melt in your mouth!

Chexs did start as cereal. You can also make Chex mix at home in many different flavors. Just google Chex mix and you'll be soo surprised at how many different ways to make it.

Have you tried the Chex "Muddy Buddies" original flavor? It's chocolate/ peanut butter Chex cereal pieces covered in powdered sugar. Homemade versions are a Midwest America staple!

Cella’s chocolate cherries are the best. I love to refrigerate or freeze them.

Glad you got to try my absolute favorite the strawberry Russell Stovers Heart!! My piano teacher used to give them to us this time of year and I for sure never wanted to miss that lesson!! Haha as far as the chocolate covered cherries I’m really not picky I like them both! Also the Goldfish Grahams they are such a yummy snack! Happy Valentine’s Day Kate and Alex! I love Queen Anne’s cordials better than the others mainly cuz Queen Anne have more options like blueberry filled ones. I’ve yet to try those smash mallows but they look tasty. I still love all those different russell stover chocolates. I thrive on finding new flavors every year. Sometimes they have certain flavors that come in white but also in milk or dark chocolate. So I make sure to look closely at the packages. Sometimes white chocolate doesn’t go with certain flavors so I will take dark or milk. Can’t wait for the next video 🙂

I don't like the cherry cordials, but my hubby and my son love the Queen Anne version, my son just pops it in his mouth an enjoys but my hubby cuts the top of the cordial off, digs out the cherry and throws it away and then eats the cream and chocolate, LOL. He says that's the best way to eat them, I just laugh and tell him it's a cherry cordial for a reason. I also enjoyed Alex's version of Achy Breaky Heart. p.s. After you video I listened to Achy Breaky Heart and so enjoyed it, I remember doing the dance steps and I wore my hair like many of the young women in this video, good times. Thanks for the great walk down memory lane.

Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.

My favorite part of chex mix is also the bagel chips... good choice Kate. They sell just bagel chips by the bag and I love them. Also hannah Montana will NEVER be available on netflix Disney started their own streaming service disney+ so all their shows are pretty much nowhere but that service

I prefer the Queen Anne because they have the white filling as well as the cherry liquid. They are sold mostly at Christmas in the US

And as far as chocolate goes it's usually Palmer, Russell Stover, Hershey's, Esther Price, lindt chocolate, Dove chocolate, Ghirardelli, may have missed them and might be slightly out of order but it's from cheaper chocolate up to the higher brands of Belgian chocolate that is why Russell Stover is considered so cheap. And you can really tell because the cheaper chocolates taste mostly of sugar! I never knew the champagne existed I want some of that and pecan delights are always top notch. And I'm so glad that you got the Brachs chocolate little sad it's that flavor but just as good usually get the orange.

Yes checks what was a breakfast cereal and still is but there was a recipe that many Americans did for parties especially super bowl that required seasonings like soy sauce with other ingredients to be baked in the oven and then mixed with pretzels and whatnot. The company learned of this and eventually started producing their own Chex mix for those that didn't want to go through the process of making it and it exploded everywhere now everyone enjoys chex mix. Similar to how Rice krispie treats came into existence. As Americans experimenting with our food.

Kate, you should look up recipies for homemade chex mix and make some in a video! There are TONS of variations. It's so good straight out if the oven! I believe that chex started making "chex mix" because so many people were making their own at home for party snacks!

Chex party mix started being made at home. It's the 3 original cereals- rice, wheat and corn, plus mixed nuts, pretzels (more?) tossed with melted butter, seasonings and Worcestershire sauce and baked. Home made is way better than the store bought version.

Chex mix began as a consumer-made party snack food. The company caught on and by the 60’s started putting recipes on their cereal boxes. The bagged snacks have overtaken the cereals and yeah, I love the spicy and sweet types!

Queen Anne all the way. Queen Anne also makes chocolate covered blueberries that are amazing!! plus some peppermint ones, dark and milk. many varieties

Cella's over Queen Anne's all day every day! I had this conversation with my mother-in-law today while I consumed two of hers she got for Valentine's Day. Her Dad loved the Queen Anne's. Its like Red Vines vs Twizzlers, everyone has a favorite.
