British Light Anti Gas Respirator Series

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A look at the British/Commonwealth Light Anti-Gas Respirator series, featuring the LaG MK1, LaG MK2 and the LaG MK3/Canadian C3. There are also Australian variants of this series which I do not own.

    The eyepieces and exhale valve on this series of masks were so large in proportion to the rest of the mask that I always mistook it to be much smaller than it actually was. I also love the thumbnail, masks look so cool when the eyepieces reflect the light, obscuring the wearer's eyes and giving the mask a creepier look.

    Hey, I've been watching your videos on and off after trying to see whether my finnish filters were safe or not, and just wanted to say, the amount of interaction you have with your subscribers compared to other channels is excellent. Especially given the amount of time you've spent on this channel. Keep up the good work W93!

    Cheers, Finnish filters are most likely safe, they're my filters of choice for old 60mm masks if you don't want to bother with a 60-40mm converter. They do contain chromium but so do like 90% of surplus filters, as long as they are not leaking that's not really an issue.

    @@Weaponsandstuff93 I'm aware that they should be safe but they were all second hand and had no seals so I opted not to take my chances either way. Nice shelf pieces though.

    Polish MS-4 filters? I've never seen a lab report on them but I'd trust them more than most Soviet Union filters simply because it has a decent particle filter at the top rather than just cotton wool.

    hey man, love your videos, thanks to you I've learned so much more about something I already loved (bc what isn't cool about gas masks?), so thank you so much for that. However I was hoping to ask (although I've not a clue if this is the place to ask? But I'll risk it) if you could do a video about the gas masks that the characters of the online comic 'Romantically Apocalyptic' wear? Me and a friend are fans of it and considered a cosplay sort of thing, but would have n o i d e a which masks we'd be looking for Not a clue which kinds they use, but I imagine we'd have to tint the lenses ourselves if they do exist If you do see this, I'm not saying read every page because it's very long, but any basic art can show you Especially "Zee Captain", Engie and Pilot Cheers for all the awesome (and informative) videos anyways, look forward to the next one! Thanks for the nice comment, I saw you give a good reply to someone else asking about decently priced S10s so thanks for that as well. From what I can see from a quick google they are not real masks but a lot of them seem to resemble 3M style half face masks with chunky filters on them and separate goggles. Zee Captain looks like a Half face mask with round filters and separate goggles. Engie looks like some sort of ski goggles combined with another variant of a half face industrial mask. Pilot looks like he has the most realistic of all the masks, it looks a lot like a WW2 flight helmet combined with a planes oxygen mask, I'm not really an expert on those (not that I am on normal masks) but I'd advise searching online for "Pilots masks" and you may see a similar thing, but they are normally very expensive compared to regular gas masks.

    @@Weaponsandstuff93 Aye, no problem. As for the links, I hate to see people ripped off. Fair price for a fair item. Thank you for the rely on the masks, it seems from the information you've given me it will be quite difficult to replicate them, but the 3M styles certainly look like a good place to start. And yes, pilots mask will probably be easier, I can see a few chinese masks for around £15, but the tube is in the middle rather than off to the side, so it looks like I'll have to do quite a bit of digging. I imagine the full thing will cost a fair amount, not to mention the obscene amount of leather he wears. Old leather, especially for pilots, isn't going to be cheap it seems. Still, thank you for the reply, it's greatly appreciated. Keep up the grand content matey ~

    @@jesuschrist4274 I know I'm almost a year late, but the pilot helmet is a SzH-82 & the oxygen mask is a KM-32. They were used in combination with the ZSh-3 outer shell in the 1960's and 70's in Soviet fighter jets. Pretty expensive unfortunately.

    Sadly most 60mm filters still have small intakes etc, so they still bottleneck airflow.

  • @janbosik8953
    @janbosik89535 жыл бұрын

    When and why exactly did people go from 60mm to 40mm filters? I assume a 60mm one would have much less resistance. Also: isn't there asbestos in those filters?

  • @Weaponsandstuff93

    @Weaponsandstuff93

    5 жыл бұрын

    Around the 1960s I think in parts of Europe although the US went from 60mm to cheek filters and then to 40mm, because most of Europe was using 40mm. In theory 60mm should offer less breathing resistance however that's often not the case due to the filters being constructed in ways where the air flow can get bottle necked anyway, small intake ports etc. The idea with 40mm is that you can have a filter of similar sizes just with a smaller intake screw, meaning the masks can be built in a way where the filter port takes up less room on the mask design.

    I've heard similar things, the UK is very humid and can be hot in the summer and no issues with the glue on mine, lots of sites that bitch about the C3 are ones that tell you to buy $300+ respirators directly from them, so it may be a bit of a scam.
