For those who don't know: Trader Joe's private labels many brands as Trader Joe's products. They partner with brands that a board of taste testers has tasted and scored and pick one brand for each snack/product. The brand they partner with also signs an NDA in the process so there is speculation as to what brand is what but no confirmation.
@mostdope216
Ай бұрын
This definitely true for some products, but If this is the case why do the trader Joe products look different, have different ingredients, and taste different than any comparable brand? If this was true wouldn’t the trader joe takis look and taste like actual takis?
@OfficialDeathScythe

@@mostdope216 No they work closely with their partners to develop the recipe they'll use. it’s not brands, it’s manufacturers. they might use the same manufacturers as some brands though. the only time they’ll use a brand is if they can’t find a manufacturer to make a comparable product for less, or if the process is licensed, like GT Dave’s kombucha. i used to work at Trader Joe’s and this is what they told us at least…

Trader Joe's started in Pasadena as a wholesale place for wine, nuts, and cheeses. We would drive from L.A to Pasadena to shop there. Hello! Friendly little Spanish lesson~🥸 The pepper called Jalapeño, originates from Mexico, and in Mexico, although the alphabet letters are almost the same (except for an extra letter) the sound of the letters are pretty different. That being said, the letter J (jota) makes a H sound (ho-ta)😇 if anyone cares anyway😅

But it's not an "h" sound. It's different from "h" because the tongue is pressed against the roof of the mouth. I know to a Spanish speaker it feels natural and thus not noticeable, but believe me, it's a different sound.

LOVE my Trader Joe's. I go very often, and yes, I hit up the snacks, but they have great cheese, meats, sides, and frozens too. They have their own brands for most of what we would buy anywhere. Cereals, dairies, all of it is relatively inexpensive. It is always crowded and they have the BEST staff anywhere. So kind, so lovely. I love that someone so incredibly cool is a Headmaster, all of the students at that school are so fortunate to have such a great role model. Hats off to you, Mr. Smith, and bless you for the impact you have on so many young minds. Cheers! Also, someone get these gentlemen some All-Dressed chips from Canada, they'll make up for the Everything ones, haha!

My first entertainment job was working in development for the Los Angeles Opera back in the 1990s, over a decade after Trader Joe's was sold to a German billionaire. Mr. Joe and Mrs. Alice Coloumbe were my clients and lifetime members of the opera board. I have fond memories of them...they were very 'homey' people and I was friendly with two of their three children. To this day, I have clothing they gave me to wear to the galas. They were very down-home, unpretentious people. Mrs. Coloumbe kind of ran the show as far as their personal lives but Joe was a cool cat in business. Very pleasant gentleman.
Trader Joe's is great for getting a lot of healthier foods as well. They use less artificial preservatives, and often have a great produce section and a rotating selection of premade salads. A lot of their frozen meals are really tasty, and often healthier than brands that are labeled as healthy. Lots of snacks like dried fruit, and plenty of drinks without any sugar or artificial flavoring. Surprisingly good rotating selection of beers and wines too. Saying all that, I always have to grab at least some crazy treat or snack or dip when I'm there.

Some of their frozen meals are still high in sodium but I have been able to find things that aren't and, they are good enough That I will drive forty five minutes to buy them once in a while

@@LindaC616 Yeah, the sodium content is high on a lot of Trader Joe's stuff which can make it hard if you're watching that, but they do have some good lower sodium offerings. Talked to them about it one time and they said they preferred not to use artificial preservatives, but it did mean using more salt a lot of the time.

@L77045 One I can vouch for is the chicken mushroom Stir fry. It's under my dietitian'smagic number of 400 MG. I add extra veg to it to bulk up the portions. It's a treat to myself on nights when I'm craving restaurant food. Only drawback is that you need to that it out in advance, so you have to know when you want it. The scallion pancakes are also fabulous
Thanks. Giving me ideas for snacks.
I'm an American and I've never tried any of these products. I love these guys and Mr. Smith so I watched anyway.
Short history lesson: Trader Joe’s started out as Pronto markets in the late 60’s. Which later on changed their name to Trader Joe’s, named after the founder Joe Coloumbe. He sold the business to Aldi in the 80’s.
Mr. Smith steals the show as usual!
I love those kids discussing pronunciation of jalepenos lol! They both had very good points too. My mind is in a pretzel thinking about it as well now! Well done lads! Cheers from California.
