We had arrived in the US in August. My job was to teach foreign kids to speak English. My students arrived and very urgently mimed - I figured out the Twin Towers and drew them on the board. They mimed planes and added explosion sounds, for both buildings. Then motioned the building falling - I erased from the top and had to go lower until it was gone, and then the second one… chilling. We went to another classroom where there was a tv and confirmed the facts visually, just as the Pentagon got hit! We had students from that area in our boarding school… very difficult for them as the phones were overloaded. My first thought was there are PEOPLE in there…😢

Country Music and religion go hand in hand here in 🇺🇸 It goes GOD, FAMILY & COUNTRY . After 9/12 When I saw on the news here that our National Anthem was played there in the UK and all those there waving the little American Flags along with all the outpouring of sadness & support it made me just sit there and cry. It was very touching and Much Appreciated here ❤

I watched the towers fall from my delivery truck, across the Hudson River, in Moonachie New Jersey. That day, and the weeks following, were full of many emotions. Shock, fear, sadness, anger, etc. I have a hard time talking about it, and this song makes me cry every time I hear it. I try to brush the sadness aside by remembering the love, compassion and unity we felt as everyone came together to save those that could be saved and mourn those whom we lost. I remember the bravery of the heroes of the NYPD and FDNY on that day. I try to brush away the trauma of that day with all of the good that I saw in people. It was a horrible day that gave birth to all of the best in us. God bless all of those lost. God bless those they left behind. God bless the heroic first responders. God bless the people of New York, the USA, and the world who grieved with us. Let us remember the best that we can be and the love we can have for each other, and let us bring that forth every day. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction to this song.

I watched him perform this on the country music awards and just thought it was perfect. Very sad news to hear about Queen Elizabeth passing. I know we in America were sad to hear the news . Condolences to you both and all affected by such a great loss.

Unlike many Americans who poked fun and made jokes about the death of Queen Elizabeth II; I was rather saddened by her passing. I was at work when the news broke here in the United States; and when I got home from work I just showered, put on my pajamas, climbed into bed and silently wept until I fell asleep. The following morning I said a brief prayer for the royals as I knew that they were hurting. Of course my heart shattered into a thousand pieces when I saw a picture of Prince William's daughter Princess Charlotte practically crying her eyes out on her way into Westminster Abbey for the funeral.

The world came together at that time! But here we are 21 years later, and so many things are working to tear us apart!!

A similarly simple personal song is his song, "Remember when". Worth a listen. He's a thoughtful, kind and romantic husband/father.

My son introduced me to Alan Jackson and I really enjoy his storytelling. I'm more of a metalhead but have to say that Alan's songs really touch the soul many times. Great reaction Guys

Have you checked out the live version of Alan performing "I want to stroll.over heaven with you" which he performed in church for his mother? If not....check it out sometime. I love it!

I have a friend who was a middle school teacher in New Jersey when the attacks occurred. She has told me that, knowing that many of the children's parents worked in the twin towers, the children were not released early or even in the regular manner, as they did not want any kids riding the buses home, only to find an empty house. Some relative had to go to the schools in person to check out the children. She said she had children in her classes who lost parents and, of course, with their proximity to NYC they did not know if they might get hit as well. It must have been much more frightening for those in that part of the nation than to us, way down in Texas. We were, of course, devastated at the attacks and loss of life, but so ,much far removed from the events than those in that part of the nation.

In 2001 I was working in broadcasting. The first plane hit the tower on my way into work. I got to the station and everyone was glued to the tv. I witnessed the second plane hit, as well as both towers collapsing. My station Manager told us to go home and hug our kids. I will never forget this. For a month the television covered nothing but the recovery and rescues, and survivor stories and tragic stories of the heroes and awful innocent deaths.

Sending heartfelt condolences to everyone in the U.K. One of the most beautiful & honest songs of all time is Remember When by Alan Jackson, I highly recommend it - even to non-country fans.

I have loved alan jackson, even took my mom to his concerts.makes me cry everytime I hear it. We all felt that way that day.

I think this song perfectly encapsulates the horror and helplessness we felt that day.

I love Alan Jackson. You need to react to "Remember When", he has so many wonderful songs. Truly country, NOT pop.

I cannot hear this song without crying. Over 20 years later and it still feels like yesterday. I find it hard to see images or watch video from that day. Like many - I know exactly what I was doing at every horrific moment. There are a few amazing and patriotic songs that came out. They all hit home.

I will never forget. I lost two great friends that day. I was less then a block away when I watched both plans hit.

Back in the middle 70’s, I was stationed at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island. I went to the top of the towers many times just to see the view. I had always wanted to take my family back there. I was sitting at home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, watching the news when the top story came on about a small plane crashing into one of the towers. As I was watching, the second plane hit. The only thing worse was when they came down.

I went to the funeral of a young man who died in his office in the first tower. He had three very young children, the youngest a new born, maybe 2 months old. I remember the young wife holding that baby and me thinking he will never know his father.

I still tear up when listening to this song. I'll never forget watching that day unfold on tv. On that day I not only cried for the Americans lost and their loved ones, but also for all the people in other countries who live this daily. We see it on the news but September 11th brought it home. America defends freedom for all, terrorism has no place in the word for peace loving people.

All these years later, this still brings tears to my eyes. I dont think any of us will ever forget those moments, where we were, and what we were doing. One of the greatest things about America, we may squabble like kids with each other , but when people mess with us , we stand together quick. America is a patriotic country, but honestly who wouldn't be proud of where they come from. Many of us have military background, come from military families or have friends who serve. This is an amazing song full of reflection .

I remember the 1st time I heard Alan do this song. I didn't weep, I didn't cry, I full out sobbed! Even tonight hearing it, I've got chills and tears flowing. I think Alan did justice to what people were thinking and the questions that were in the minds of people all over the world. It's still a heartwrenching song when you consider how very raw the emotions were when this 1st came out and how, even now, it's like poking at a wound that never quite heals. Great reaction guys! ❤

I was getting prepped to teach my 7th grade class when another teacher ran in my classroom and turned on the tv. I was speechless when the broadcast replayed a video of a plane flying into the tower. When I saw the second plane hit in real time, I threw up in the sink. That was the moment I realized it was not just a horrendous accident. Later that night I drove to a random church and held hands with a large group of complete stranger as we prayed silently for hours. It was a feeling of complete shock and helplessness.

My father was in the air that day, flying between Connecticut and Texas for work. We spent HOURS terrified that his plane was involved until his plane got grounded and he was able to call. My uncle was down in NYC that morning, in Manhattan dropping a tractor trailer to a customer and saw the first building get hit in his rear view mirror and then the first one to fall as he was trying to get out of the city. My brother in law is a volunteer fire fighter in Connecticut and their group was called in to help. I was in a kindergarten room working that early morning and we watched it all unfold on TV. We have a military base here and they locked down the city and base and went into a 2 up 2 down flight schedule than ran for weeks. So many people affected.

I was in high school. We live within 1 hour of The Pentagon. I remember being in the office seeing it over TV when the second plane hit the towers. I ran back to class screaming to turn the TV on

I was in 7th grade, history class just started when the news broke out. I was quiet all day, played with friends then that night I cried, because of what happened, and I knew my uncle, and 2 cousins were about to leave for war. I couldn't watch violent tv, or any for that matter. I was feeling every emotion at one time.

I am born and bred in Brooklyn, one of the 5 boros of NYC. I worked a few streets away from the Twin Towers, but just the day before I went on a leave of absence from work, so missed being there during this outrage. I was extremely fortunate as I was told upon my return to the office that the ceiling above my desk totally collapsed, and had I been sitting there - who knows how badly I would have been injured. I took a sedative the evening of the 10th and when I woke up on the 11th at 1 pm, it was all over and I saw the horror show on tv in disbelief.

I was teaching first grade. The students whose parents were military had to go home before the base closed roads. Later. we went to church and prayed.

This day seems like just yesterday. I was teaching a class full of innocent children that day. I couldn’t wait for that school day to end to get home to watch the tv. It was my last day Of work, I was flying to Switzerland on Sept 12th to celebrate my birthday, obviously that didn’t happen since airspace was closed. Instead I sat at home watching the news, thanking God me and my family was safe. Especially since I was flying out of New York.

The music is secondary in this type of song as he tells his story, so I was more focused on what he was singing really. The old steel guitar was playing away in the background giving it the traditional country sound. I remember 9/11 vividly watching it all unfold on the tv, very sad day for the world.

Horrible day. I was living and working in Cambridge Mass. I was late, so I got a taxi to work. Taxi driver was listening to news radio, but I couldn't hear properly in the back. When I got to the office, it was quiet. There were people crammed in one office on my floor, watching a small portable TV. I went in, asked what was happening, someone explained, we watched. Then the second plane hit. I'll always remember tiny people jumping out of the buildings. Eventually someone told us to go home. Best Wishes Everyone. ☮ Typo in the video title? This song makes me cry every time I hear it. Remembering that awful day. It will always be with us.b I had two nephews who were in the military and had to go to Iraq. I thank God they came home. Some of their friends didn't.

Alan Jackson wrote this song in one night.. feeling what our country was feeling. I had 5 children at that point and time.. my baby boy was 16 months old... my older boys were 13 amd 12...I was so scared my boys would be drafted... But I would have supported all the way. Today is Veterans Day here in the US… this song was exactly what happened.

I had just gotten my last resident into the dining room for breakfast at the nursing home I was working in. We had this GIANT screen TV in there and it wasn't on yet so I walked up to it, turned it on and at that very moment right in front of my face on that huge TV...the second plane flew into the 2nd tower. That is how we learned what was going on. It was such a surreal absolutely devastating day. The neighborhood I spent the last several years of my childhood in and that I currently live in after my husband & I moved back to my hometown 5 years after 9/11, had snipers crawling all over it for weeks afterwards because the "Blind Sheikh", who was one of the masterminds of the first Trade Center bombing, was housed at the Federal Medical Prison just blocks away. It's actually a very nice safe neighborhood and only federal prisoners with serious medical issues are housed at that prison as they are treated by doctors from our Mayo Clinic. Anyway...he was transferred to a supermax prison in another state soon afterwards but the heightened security stayed around for months due to both him and the fact that Mayo Clinic was considered a possible target due to everyone that was & is treated there from the Middle East. BTW...the late King Hussein of Jordan was here for years being treated for cancer. One of his favorite activities was to take his wife, Queen Noor, out for a drive in a new silver VW Beetle....his security obviously was in front of & in back of the Beetle. I had the unfortunate experience of merging onto the main highway between his Beetle and the security behind it...nearly shit my pants once I realized what was happening! 😂 King Hussein did technically die here but for politics sake they put him on life support, got him on his plane back to Jordan and let him go on Jordanian soil to avoid a possible international incident. He & his wife were so kind & generous to literally everyone from housekeeping to servers to nurses & doctors to just everyone they encountered in all the time they spent here. His biggest smiles though were when he was driving alone with his wife in that little silver Beetle. 😊

I can remember this day, 9/11, minute by minute. It was so terrifying. This song brings back so many memories. It is something we should forget. I remember my boyfriend telling me not to leave the house, when he left for work. We lived in Dallas at the time and had no idea what was going on or if anything else was going to happen. In Oct after 9/11 happened, so a month later, Alan couldn’t sleep. He got up and wrote this beautiful, heartbreaking song. A week later he performed it for the first time at the CMAs. He hadn’t even recorded it yet. When he did record it, the song shot to #1. The proceeds continue to go to charities. Alan said he thought after a couple years the song would just drop away. But 21 years later it remains the song everyone wants to hear. He feels he’s singing about the importance of love. I cry every time I hear it. I wrote this before watching your video because I probably could not have written it after seeing the video and listening to Alan’s amazing voice singing this bittersweet poetry he wrote and put to music. Also as a huge fan of AJ, he has had 35 #1 hits, 26 of which he wrote…like 60-70 million dollars in record sales. He along with Randy Travis brought country back to country when we were all sick to death of what was coming out then…totally off course in the 80s with pop cross over mess.

This was an awesome song at a time when America needed it. He played that publicly for the first time, at the CMA Awards a week after he wrote it. The week after that, it was the number one song in the country, and he hadn't yet cut an album. Radio stations were playing his performance at the CMA.

Personally I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to country music. Around the end of the 90's actual country music died and something closer to pop took it's place. The song "Murder on Music row" by George Strait and Alan Jackson explains it best.

I still cry every time I hear this song and think of that morning. I was driving to work and thought the radio guys were doing one of their infamous pranks, especially as the other stations hadn't. picked up on it yet. Then they switched it to audio of Katie Couric and it hit home. Got to work just before the second plane hit. We just stood there in shock as we saw it on the tv. Thank you for reacting to this. He has some other great songs you should check out. Living on Love is one of my favs, by him. Don't rock the jukebox is another good one.

Lovely reaction, enjoyed hearing yall's thoughts about it. 9/11 really was a world wide event, the World Trace Center towers had people from around the world in them and represented countries working together, so symbolic. I hope yall will watch the live version, in my opinion it was better live and without the visuals.

The first song of this type I remember hearing was "They Were Flying For Me" by John Denver. That song was about the Challenger disaster. If you've never heard it, give it a listen. That song and this one always make me cry.

I was a sophomore in Highschool on that September day! They turned on their TV just as the second plane hit! 🥺 Everyone was scared and just in shock! I live in PA so we were only about 8hrs away from NY! Such a sad scary day!

I was a teacher with a room full of innocent children..one was my son. I was told to act normal until it was time for dismissal. Really hard to do. And, yes, our Christian culture is part of country music which is songs about what we cherish in life along with the carefree.

I watched a few Brits who showed what they had to go through too. They were saved from the mess but it wasn't easy.

Country music tends to have religious tones, but this specific event had a lot of people turning to God even if they weren't traditional Christians. A lot of people were praying and going to churches to meet up to pray with others, even if they weren't typical Christians. And in the days following, the US was the most Christian we've ever been. It was all about love, kindness, and protecting our families. Almost 23 years later this song brings a lot of us to tears because we all have a "where were you" memory.

I was in 4th grade in alabama. The alarms suddenly went off…the teacher got a phone call from the office phone, and immediately the whole school was locked down & we were told to get under our desks and hide.. we weren’t told what was happening until we got home after they ended school early as hell. I got home and my step-douchbage of a step father was an upset ex-army mess as we saw the towers falls on live tv. I laughed as he cried for our country since he could cause bruises on my ass when he was mad. The thing he said he was supposedly fighting for was now in flames. Lol

Alan performed this mere weeks after 9/11 at the ACM Awards show. He said that God wrote the song, he just held the pen. He recorded it for release RELUCTANTLY and has donated the profits to 9/11 survivors and families of first responders.

Alan is one of the old greats. I have a whole album of Gospel music he does so well. Sadly, he is not well anymore, and says he has some "mobility issues". He explained because he said some thought he was drunk onstage. He said he will appear as long as it's possible.

My husband was on duty at nas oceana on 9/11 I still tear up when I think about it.

I will never forget where I was & what I doing...I remember stopping and just Praying to God for everyone to find strength to carry on...I have never cried so hard in all my life as I did on 9/11. It felt like someone ripped my heart out and attacked someone in my family. This son along with a few others mean alot to us Americans. Its amazing how he turned such a terrible and ugly tragedy into a song about love and reflection. Which i think is something we should do more often.

I was six years old and I lived in the southwest corner in Michigan. I remember it was a very cold day for us and we were all getting ready for school. My mom was trying to get both my older sisters and my younger brother ready and we had the news on like normal to see the for the weather forecast when I remember seeing the first tower live after it had gotten hit. I thought it was a movie but was confused because tv broadcasters didn't play action movies in the mornings. At one point I felt something was off and ended up forgetting about it. I did notice that school for the next few days was just us sitting in class and our teachers weren't really doing anything and were pretty quiet until the days that followed us kids were slowly told about what happened.

It is now 2023 many years later in the song still brings a tear to my eyes to think about the way the world changed on that day in a way America had its innocence stripped away like it never had before before that day we had the luxury that would never happen that's impossible and there has been too many moments where we will now be able to not say that is impossible it breaks my heart there has been too many horrific moments but it also showed us how we can come together as a people one nation United for several years after that we weren't an amalgamation of different people's or cultures we were all Americans we wept for the lost and we came together in a way we haven't since
