In my opinion, this has got to be one of the best award show performances ever. It lit the fuse for the rocket ship that is Chris Stapleton's music career. He was Nashville's best kept secret for many years and this pulled the curtain back and let the world know who he was. I guarantee that every single musician in that audience was well aware of who he was and you could see the adulation on their faces as they watched this performance knowing full and well that now everyone would know what they already knew. Chris is an incredible artist and an even better human being. I'd be remiss if I didn't give Justin Timberlake his due as well. He is such a phenomenal musician and performer, he could have easily stolen the show but its so obvious that his entire intent was to be there in support of Chris. He was in complete control of that performance from start to finish but never made it about himself. So cool.

I appreciated the ways you provided thorough and informative ways in showing how quality is better than quantity--you emphasized that there was so much quality in this performance. I loved what you said about the performance being art--I fully agree with you. I believe the performance shows how music can be powerful and bring people together. Again, thanks for a great analysis, and thanks for what you do, Fil!

Glad to see another analysis of Chris. He kind of flies under the radar with mainstream music. His latest song “Starting over” is probably the best song out right now in any genre. Would love to see an analysis of that. Not sure if there is a live version yet due to pandemic restrictions but his official video for it is like a live version in studio. The way the bass comes in during the second verse is really cool as well. Thanks for this one.

Chris is now my new "Favorite", one of several favorites. Sadly, over the years there have been a growing number of empty slots, as the old school "Favorites" steadily pass away. Chris fills the spot that was until recently occupied by Gregg Allman. It's comforting to know that the young folks are just as talented as ever! Glad to see Chris beginning to enjoy the fruits of his success! And, a bit off-topic, but I was pleased to see another kid being recognized, as well. I refer, of course to Billy Strings, who just won the Grammy for Bluegrass Album of the Year. Looking forward to many years of listening to these folks! And I count on you, Fil, to keep finding other young folks for me to get hooked on! Thanks, as always, for the great vid!

Two amazing artists that have pure soul as their backbones. This performance truly shows that. Simply goes back to the fact that soul is the father of all music. In modern music, any genre, outside of a pure gospel song, they all go back to soul, and even then, much of gospel, yeah it goes there too.

Fil, wlhile it doesn't take anybody who understands anything about music to appreciate how fabulous this performances is, a lot of the fun in watching you is your reactions to the pieces you're reviewing. I don't think I've ever seen you as engaged as in this particular video. Your analyses are always professional, but you almost went fanboy on this! Love watching you have fun!

Yes was indeed fun watching his reaction...mine was the same and more! Could not stop smiling and moving in my seat watching live. By far the best in award show history and the world of music! JT is my absolute favorite..Chris is too and combination of the two is utterly amazing!! The runs are pitch perfect and Morgan's harmonies are jaw dropping. Been watching this over and over again since the show aired. Would love love to see more collaborations from these two superstars!! Wow!!

Wings of Pegasus you’re right on the money and I love your real critique and reaction!!! This is one of the best versions to watch! I will never tire of watching people react to Chris Stapleton! His voice is like buttery biscuits and gravy! Not enough people give Justin enough credit for how incredibly talented he is not just with vocals but instruments! Then you add Chris’ wife on top of that, she’s amazing and their voices blend perfectly!! Watch the Austin city limits performance if you can. Also good is sometimes I cry! Keep it up! I love great reactions from people who take the time to appreciate vocals, lyrics, musicianship and break it down!
