a big part (maybe 1/4?) of the one-take for Holly Roller is vocals that I think are manipulated on a backing track, but it has great growls. I'm not such a fan of it, but ymmv - the video is really cool and creepy - I mean, it is Spiritbox, right? :D

Glad you enjoyed this one more! Definitely check out some more of your Spiritbox recommendations! Especially their song "The Beauty of Suffeting" (Live one-take)! Also their song "Holy Roller" (official music video AND the live one-take video)! You can see how the two compare! I'd recommend you straight to the live version, but they did such an amazing job with the official video; they had a DIY budget for the video so they borrowed cameras, got props from a friend's wedding, the bass player's wife did the make-up, etc.! 👍👍🤘🤘

@@yazma2 oh... to pronounce LaPlante correct don't spend attention to the "e". In this case the "e" is used as sign you had to pronounce the "t" (not like in "effet" when the "t" works for the "e" the same way). So Plante like the english word plant and you've got 98%. Hope it will help ✌

Yeah you’d deffo love Holy Roller, there’s a “one take” video like this for it but the music video is also amazing. Doesn’t necessarily have that energy you mentioned but the shots, artistic direction etc is some of the best I’ve seen in the scene myself

what I like about this video in particular is her body expression ,even she is in the same place You can see how she changes before the scream parts !!! that posture like when someone is intimidating you and you say "you want to fight ehhh" I'm badass too . love your reaction by the way !!!

The one take performance really showcases Courtney's talent, you should check out the original video as well it's amazing (this is my personal favorite of their tracks, it blew me away when I first heard it). Then again, Holy Roller , their latest single, you should definitely give that a listen 🤘 the lows are beyond ridiculously good. Really pleased they are getting more airtime

Good review. Check out Car Bomb. Unfortunately I don't think they really have a lot of videos, but a couple of my favorites are Cellophane Stiletto or Cielo Drive.

Fun fact: in the studio version, she recorded all the harsh vocals first, so it gave her voice a naturally “tired” sound. Yeah, Holy Roller and Belcara are the songs you want to check out.

Hi Yaz, just found you thru your reaction of this band! I like to share with you my favorite band is The Warning - 3 sisters from Monterrey Mexico who rock - 1 EP 2 albums all original music, independently done thru Patreon and Kickstarter. The band got recognition on a viral video in 2014 when they did a cover of Metallica's Sandman while they were uploading videos for their grandparents to see, it just to off to the point that Kirk Hammett tweeted that drummer kick ass! Today they all under 20, they have each mastered their instruments Ale Bass (Spector Artists at 13 she is now 15) Pau Drummer, vocals (Sybian Artist) Dany Lead guitar, vocals, (RickToone Artist, Manson Guitar) Love them because of their work ethic and commitment to their music. The Warning was set to do their first North American Tour (canceled) along with their first Concert in London in Sept. at Bush Hall this concert has only been postponed, their British Facebook fan page has a good number of members and many support them thru Patreon. many have traveled just to see them live in Mexico and at the Legendary Whisky a GoGo in Hollywood, CA. Holy Roller yes, but their most recent release of Holy Roller Ft. Ryo Kinoshita! Hits way harder! Both are amazing.

I'd recommend "The beauty of suffering" and the "Mara effect" trilogy

If (or when!) you do Holy Roller, there's another one-take live performance as well as a proper music video. Both are great in different ways of course - and both are heavy as hell.

There is a video that might be exactly what you meant with the live energy in a music video. It is "The Mara Effect live at Silversound Studios" It is an opus of the 3-parted Mara Effect cyclus, played live in the studio in one take of over 15 minutes, it features all of the band members very, very well and additionally brings you into the sick things they are doing on instruments and vocals. Incredible drums, the rare guitar solo, cool bass lines and a Courtney LaPlante showing a lot of her facettes. A great arrangement with a real spiritbox connecting the parts, musically very interesting and you see them all in action as an incredible band with highly skilled musicians. It is not the hardest one, but beautiful and has a great flow to it.

Highly recommend earthside: a dream in static, an incredible band and song that gets no air time.

SpiritBox heavy- Belcarra, Holy Roller, Beauty of Suffering all have one takes( like this). Their normal videos she goes for a deadpan approach ( no effort no emotion) not like she doesn't give a shit but a style choice. I would check out Belcarra ( for a real video) though. It's shot really well and it's got a good creepy feel and not to mention she's got some sick dance moves! Keep up the good work!
