I remember getting a red jewel cassette of Deftones before Adrenaline came out and I played those 4 songs OUT think it was 92', I was on the east coast of NC at the time so it was early, been a deftones ever since.

he’s definitely fucked his voice up to some extent over the years. you can’t do the shit he does 100% healthily. he’s had vocal surgery at least once unless i’m mistaken
@impulse4079

You can very easily hear him regularly straining his voice. He’s still a great vocalist but I guarantee he isn’t screaming healthily.

As predicted, I'm already warming to the song! The video killed my buzz on this one, I think i was soooo hyped from the last one that I set the bar too high for it. I'm gonna get on the album now :)
Love Chino's pained screams, they sound proper visceral live
His voice sounds like it did in the old albums. I love the _ohms album aswell. It just need a few listenings. Keep up the good work Yaz!

FINALLY
Wasn’t sure at first but then I loved it
I love this song just as much as I love every Deftones song. Every song has a different feel to it. This song was probably not the best to do a reaction to though. They're definitely a band best listened to alone with eyes closed.

Brief Exchange - Chino Moreno(from DCs Dark Knight Soundtrack.. Badass Song.. And for this this song Genesis , that’s Deftones for ya
Nice vid Yaz BALANCED....as everything should be
Deftones - Digital Bath....dooo eeeet and you will LOVE it since you like the chill parts of this song
This is very healthy compared to what Chino did to his throat with When girls telephone boys and Hexagram
Digital Bath off of White Pony, and if you've already heard that, wait for the remix that is coming out NEXT WEEK on their White Pony Remix Album Black Stallion. I CAN'T WAIT
I was listening to Poppy this past year because she was actually touring with Deftones. Surprisingly, She was pretty good. (Imo) She has some pretty entertaining music videos on KZread. I'd say give her "Concrete" or "I Disagree" videos a try. On topic, Genesis also didn't really grab me as well lol

I've heard a thing or two about Poppy but I've never given her music a proper shot! Thanks woof :)
Hey Yaz your looking lovely and very cool T shirt and Your hair looks awesome Great job with your reaction to genius from The Deftones .
This was more for the fans who've been around since the beginning. I get that hearing his scream is a little much for casual listeners as you don't typically get that scream in the radio friendly songs they make, but it's all good. I've been with them since the beginning, 1995. Jeez it's been that long

😍
I adore your hair
Loving the hair today. It is an good song... not crazy technical, more of a song you hear in the background movie or show during credit. The repetitious riffs are usually catered to the fans with the legalized and sometimes illegal products. The album in a whole is fabulous, and a must listen from start to end, in order
@yazma2

I can totally imagine it in a movie sound track for sure. Also you're probably right about the riffs ahaha. I'm gonna give it a listen this week. :D
Have you done "Bleach Bath" by Spiritbox yet? You should react to that next.
Personally, I repeat the songs that I like. But later I start listening to the complete album. It takes me weeks to fall in love with their complete albums. Some songs sounds boring, but when I start listening to those songs over and over then the album makes more sense. And this last album, it's ba complete masterpiece.
Badass song. Silly girl.
I would love to see you react to bones by make them suffer
Red Fang has some amazingly fun videos. I highly recommend Wires, or Prehistoric Dog; also Shadows, or Blood Like Cream, or Hank is Dead. haha.. It's straightup rock n roll, but the videos are all entertaining AF.
I’m in the same boat as you. I didn’t care for it that much. On to the next song!
don’t cry- Charley Crockett music video
Speaking of genesis, Devin Townsend' s genesis is amazing
You should check out some stuff by the group "Nothing More". Some great tracks and very cool lyric content too. "Jenny" or "This Is the Time" are probably the go-to introduction tracks for them. 😁

I'm a big, big Deftones fan and I'm on the same boat regarding basically everything you said. I like the album as a whole, this song specifically doesn't do much for me on its own. And yeah the video is mostly b-roll. If you fancy another Deftones, and I may have recommended this already, I suggest "The Spell of Mathematics" from the new album. I heard most of the album months before it came out and I felt this song would be the standout. So far, I see a lot of people agreeing. The song doesn't have any music video so not sure you'd wanna go for that, but the band has put out a "visualizer" for each track not featuring a music video. Cheers!

Looking forward to it. As I Lay Dying paved the way for me into the heavier side of metal in the earlier 2000s. And as I look down at the shirt I'm wearing, I have to add August Burns Red into the category. Literally any song it doesn't matter haha.
❤❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yaz, I agree with you, that the softer parts are genuinely good, but the shouting almost seems like its there because it's expected. Sometimes taking a different turn or going against what's expected brings suspence, surprise and dynamic color to the music. The same may be said of the black and white. Back in the day Denise Williams did a song called Silly. She hit one high note in the song, but you aniticipated it through the whole song....one note kept you hanging on through the whole song.
The thing about Deftones is, they tend to change a lot from album to album. There first couple of albums were fairly consistent, but then it starts to really vary. In a good way, most of the time. I do like the new album (wasn't a huge fan of Gore to be honest, their previous one)...but I still just don't get that, "Wow........." euphoric, feeling like I just heard a masterpiece feeling I got with their previous efforts. If you've not heard them, you should visit songs like, "Minerva," "My Own Summer," "Digital Bath," "Knife Fight," "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)," "Change (In the House of Flies)," "Diamond Eyes" and "Goon Squad"....just to name a few stand outs.
Have you reacted to the Whistler preformed by the white buffalo? Might be interesting for a country/folk tune. 👌
The Warning is a must you start watching there videos you be part of a amazing fan base called the Warning ARMY. 21 century blood is a great video from the Warning.
Hole In The Earth is a great Deftones song.

This song grew on me but isn’t my favorite of the album. Also listen to just the song again, maybe in your car. Just do yourself a favor and buy the album lol. There’s more bangers. Side note, your “normal” hair is still quite fabulous, although your color and especially your shaved hairstyle are my absolute favorite look on a girl 😍 But that’s just me. Your “wheeze” was priceless lol ❤️
