Funnily enough mate I met Shane at Hope Church in Newcastle when I was down on my luck and on the streets with my partner. Such an honest, down to earth and humble man. I remember shedding a tear to Shane and having these massive arms wrap around me, I thought I was suffocating from upset and heartbreak but no, he was genuinely comforting me in my time of need. I hope he gets the chance to see this but Shane mate, you had a huge impact in my life without knowing it. The fact you were honest, upfront and genuine deserves mad respect. Me and my partner found refuge that day and I honestly feel like you played a part. Mad love and respect big lad, keep telling your story and helping others. Was a pleasure to meet you and I'm overly grateful for your advice and help 👊

Great to see someone like Shane turn his life around, hope he can help younger generations learn from his mistakes. This is a great advert for the fact punishment ( prison) doesn't work for most , what helps is kindness !! They can handle punishment any day of the week & twice on Sunday but kindness makes them think about things.

Yeah I totally agree , obviously ppl do make up finding religion to get out of trouble but you can’t just tell he’s being totally honest , it’s actually quite amazing and beautiful to see this big guy who was as brutal as can be talking about being sorry and praying and genuinely getting emotional when he’s talking about forgiveness . Also if you watch the difference between the smiles and laughs talking about the brutal stuff and then after he found Jesus were so different , the smiles at the end were just so genuine and relaxed. Also a guy who’s been diagnosed with serious mental health conditions of a very violent nature has been out of prison for 14 years and non Medicated and is still doing great , that’s amazing. All I can say is it’s inspiring and I truly hope to this day he’s doing great.

I'm not excusing his behaviour, but he was obviously extremely unwell. For those who were stupid enough to arm themselves and, go up against him, they were taught a huge lesson and, I doubt they ever dared arm themselves with knives again.

I've watched hundreds of podcasts now and this has to be up there with the best. Reminds me of my old man a little bit really trouble most of his life, but found a way out all be it a little too late. But I did forgive him and now he's at peace hopefully in heaven. I gotstarred up at 18 I been going jail well young offenders/borstal since 14 on and off drugs hurt ALOT of people been hurt a lot by people but you know wat I would not change a fucking thing I am who I am and I'm the man i am today due to my past I've got 3 kids 3 bed house dog 6 turtles drug free and happy people can change

This isn't true as when you give your life to the Lord you are acknowledging that you're imperfect and want to be a better person. By studying the bible it helps you learn how you can achieve this. You still have struggles and pain as we are human and flesh but your faith is there to help you through. Shane is being used for a greater purpose.

There is a quote that says religion is the last refuge of the guilty man. Mafia members convert to Catholicism on their deathbeds, confess and then it’s all good. Mad how some humans need a god or faith not to fuck over others and be a basic human being.

I've watched this almost all the way and intend to....and I'm glad to hear this man tell his story and it never fails to amaze me to he how Vod works and reaches people even in their darkest moments and places and I'm happy Shane has turned his life around. You can see he has a heart and deep down is a good man who just needed to find and feel loved and accepted as he is and I'm happy he has found that and has it in his heart now. I wish you nothing but success, peace and happiness brother in all you do in life

James has to be the best podcast interviewer. The man can just sit and listen for hours. Extremely hard thing to do. And how he comforted this man with just his words. Shane obviously was a very violent man. But he seems to have turned his life around. Props to him and props to James for giving him a platform to show he's a changed man.

Actually you want your kids to listen to the teachers and educate themselves to better their lives and not to listen to people who are criminals or drug dealers or even ex ( sic) criminals or drug dealers. To put these people on ‘legend’ status or inspirational status shows a lack of intelligence IMO

I remember watching Paul Venis talk about Shane a while ago and the fear of him. As a Christian listening to his testimony makes me proud of my brother in Christ . The passion he has for the Lord and his mindset now is beautiful to see. Great interview!.

Epic podcast, my favourite one to date. I’ve never listened to anyone and been able to relate so much in my life. I haven’t led a criminal lifestyle but my brain ticks VERY VERY VERY much similar to you. I’ve spent years battling myself mentally not being able to cope with feeling mugged off. Re-thinking over and over again about how you will react, hurting people in my mind because it’s safer than throwing my life away, but it adds up in your mind. I really struggle day to day with this mental state. The only thing that scares me in life is losing the only ones that really care. I don’t fear people either, what will happen will happen. Scary stuff

If you believe in something or someone then it’s better than believing in nothing at all. Religion does positively change some peoples life.
