A Rare Inside Look Into Britain's Gang-Filled Prisons | Real Responders

Ойын-сауық

A camera-crew is granted rare access to His Majesty's Prison (HMP) Durham. There they gain a rare insight into life behind bars and see firsthand how an outbreak of drugs, including a synthetic drug called spice, is causing widespread issues for prison staff and prisoners. The camera-crew captures all from prison drug deals, contraband smuggling to the threats made to camera-crew themselves.
'Prison' is a three-part documentary series that provides a rare insight into life behind bars at HMP Durham, and explores the issues prison staff and prisoners face daily.

    You can get more in prison than on the street. Think about it, you placed 75% drug addicted or sellers in one place. Everyone is looking for the same thing to either sell it or buy it. It's a 24/7 connection.

    Its not about too much freedom and more staffing, its about rehabilitation and helping the people who get convicted. Prison is never a hotel or any of the like and people should be aware of that, because at the end of the day there exist people like you or this comment section who wants to tighten up on a person`s "freedom" in prison. Please differentiate the difference between our non-prisoners freedom and the freedom of prisoners.

    @@lilbeans I don't know if I'm reading it wrong or if I'm taking what you are saying the wrong way. Are you saying that prison is made to not be a place where prisoners should have freedoms or are you saying that prisoners should have more freedoms in prison than they do? Am I totally confused because I've not had any sleep in 3 days or is it because it's the way you wrote out your opinion? (No shade being thrown, I'm being 100% serious)

  • @lilbeans

    @lilbeans

    Opps sorry bout that. I am trying to say that prison should function as an area for people to be able to rehabilitate and later go back into society (if possible). Their lack of freedom, or amount of, especially in the case of the video does not seem to be in question (to me at least) as a big chunk of the people interviewed genuinely seem to need help with their battles against mental problems. The person who`s comment i responded on wrote as if the amount of freedom is the problem here, to me it comes more as problems within themselves that the prison does a poor job of handling. I hope it makes a bit of sense now! @@NotASnowflake 💜

    This was excellent. Wasn't expecting the vibe between the lads inside and the coppas, and between the lads themselves to be like it was/is. Trust Northerners to have a sense of humour, to tell it like it is. Michael is a unique guy, in a cool way, almost like someone from the 1920s or something. Well interviewed and filmed, well done to everyone involved. Good luck to all these lads, and the good coppas too, from down under 🦘

    They do. If you don't work then you've got to depend on someone sending money in for you. And when you work you only make about 1.50 per day. And if you don't work, or study or have money sent in, you can't buy your canteen and you can't pay for your television. Nothing is free.
