The Secret Service learned a harsh, tragic lesson with the assassination of JFK. He also wore a back brace which prevented him from ducking down. A piece of trivia the assassination of Kennedy and the ones prior were State crimes. At that point, it wasn't a Federal offense to attempt to harm, harm, or assassinate the President. Thanks, Amanda it is an interesting topic. This was informational but there are a few that give a bit more. Before any trip takes place The Secret Service also sends agents ahead to interview any employees at the nearest trauma center and if anyone has a criminal record they are told to stay home. They clear any buildings where they could be shooting positions, etc. There is also a team of elite special ops personnel in one vehicle. Due to the assassination of Senator Robert F Kennedy individuals running for President also have Secret Service protection.

The presidents motorcade is way more massive than this video portrays. There’s just no possible way to describe it. It’s just something you have to witness to understand the magnitude of this event. The county & local police that’s needed to close the highways along with the entrances and crossing streets.
