I have the same version of the Trooper...it’s getting close to dethroning my Bark River Bushcrafter 2 as a favorite in that size range. You will enjoy it...

How does the BRK Bushcrafter II compare to the regular BRK Bushcrafter?

  • @dlrmon1

I would say the Bushcrafter 2 is plus sized for closer the XL and up hands. The original felt to small for my XL hands. It’s only about .60” or 15mm longer overall but it definitely feels heftier...

Wow, well that is some heavy usurpation.. Have been looking those Bark River Bushcrafters long time now, but never pulled the trigger. Looks to be good knives. Thanx for watching, have a nice day!🌲🐺🌲

Didn’t mean to impede...Just been enjoying the Trooper and am curious how you will find the Grind compared to the Scandi-Vex...if that’s a word...

  • @OldForestBushcraft

    5 ай бұрын

Hmm.. good question. The only experience I have with scandivex is my Gunny. And I guess there are lots of different variations of the grind. I love the knife, but it came so thick behind the edge that I had to thinnned it down notably. At the end I probably like more grinds like Trooper or Tommi Puukko, with maybe secondary convex than a scandivex. Its just more veristale in general, slicier, better with carving etc. but does also feather. BUT the Gunny is a monster with feathers, doe the best curls of any knife I ever owned probably. Aaaan is extremely durable. The edge is unbelievable tough. @@dlrmon1

The trooper is a very good knife, a sleeper in brias line. I saw your short on the trooper, and pulled mine out to look at.

After I bought the Fällkniven Embla, I swore to myself that I wouldn't buy a knife (at least one on the more expensive side) in the next 3 months. Along comes the Brisa Trooper 115...🥺! What a beauty! Stunning scenery again, great video! Thank you! (As I watch this video, I'm still "working" on the sheath of the Embla 😁... what an unbelievably tight fit).

Oh no, haha well that is ineed one of the tightest fit 'I've had, lol. This Trooper just went directly to my top favorites. And I haven't even used it that much. Just overall balance, handle, high scandi.. etc everything just seem to work so nicely. Though still first impression. Thanx for watching, have an awesome day my friend!🌲🔪🌲

Yes, the winter has been wierd, first snow came extremely early, never melted away. Then one of the coldest few months in 20 years, loads of snow and now again strangely warm. Like the winter exhausted all its strength too fast, too early, lol😂 Thanx watching, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲

Looks very reliable! I love my 80CRV2 110 Terava Jaakaripuukko and that Brisa is very reminiscent of it (with a nicer handle, better sheathe, and an actual full tang). I have been trying to be pretty rough on it batoning through small logs with knots to see capabilities. Have yet to have any damage on it and it does really good feathers. The knife is a beast and I would define it as a reliable survival knife. Yeah, it is a great bushcrafter for the price. But, I am not afraid to do anything I need to do with it; thus, it is more of a survival oriented tool to me. Congrats on your new beautiful Brisa! I noticed before you mentioned that you do like the Brisa brand. I will take a look at their store to add one to the collection. I do like your Nessmuk by Brisa too! Thanks for the video! I always enjoy your honest reviews and viewing the beautiful scenery of Finland. -Seth

Im happy you're enjoying your Jääkäripuukko! It is insanely tough blade. Used mine for about 2 yrs, and no problem. And i put it to WORK, probably not a single knife od mine gets so much use, lol. I like Brisa knives a lot. The Nessmuk I've used about 7 yrs, and such a great, reliable blade. (though the new one is better: longer, better handle and a lanyard hole. Thanx for watching, have a great day my friend!🌲🔪🌲

How do you sharpen your Trooper? I have put a 20° micro bevel on it, but I am not shure if this was the best idea. Thanks for your advice! Your video was the final reason for me to buy the Trooper. So far very happy with it. Best feeling handle of my knives.

Not really sure what is the right way, people tend to have different preferences for knife use, but I put almost always a secondary convex to my blades. Improves the feathers, and toughness. May take some edge away from carving. But I have specific puukkos for that anyways. Glad you’re digging the knife. Its a great one! Thanx for watching, have a great day!

Sweet Knife! I have the Trooper in 80CrV2 which is one of my favorite steels, magnificent knife! I do hope they make the Trooper in Elmax too! Great review, thank you! You make it look so easy! Ha! You are so right about your two knife theory, when ever I have a knife that is such a good knife for me, I buy two of them in case for some reason I lose one or one is damaged, or I get in a knife fight and the bad guy runs off with my knife stuck in them. I will always have a second one. Why do we do that? 🤔🤭

Its a feeling I get with some knives, so needed to mention that. I think its a tell that the knife has a good chances of being TOTALLY awesome. This with Micarta and Elmax would be fantastic for the archipelago, wet conditions. I hope this becomes big part of Brisas regular line-up with maybe different blade lenghts, steels, etc. I like is SO much! Thanx for watching, and a have great day!🌲🔪🌲

I enjoyed seeing that Dipper. I've never seen one in the wild over here. I've had Brisa sheaths that have lost their retention, it's very annoying but I glued leather strips inside the sheaths and that has cured the problem. I also have a habit of buying different versions of the same knife. It's madness.😂

I've had a o1 Trapper, from back when they were branded Enzo, for a long time. Great blade, but I've never really been a big fan of the handle. It's ok, but very flat, so I almost never use it tbh. This one looks interesting though.

@@OldForestBushcraft yes, a nice balance definitely makes the knife end up in ones hand more often 😁. My most used knives tend to have a 7-9 cm blade, no fingerguard and fairly neutral handle. Then again I absolutely love my Mora Bushcraft Desert (2000 blade on bushcraft handle), and that doesn't fit any of those criteria, but also has a very nice balance in the hand. Thanks for another good video!
