No fancy bullshit, the Jääkäripuukko is simply a proper no-nonsense utility knife. These come in various sizes. Jääkäripuukko 110 is an excellent all-round knife for just about any tasks, it's best paired up with something bigger such as an axe or the Skrama. Quality carbon steel, traditional Finnish puukko blade profile with a slight drop point. The Jääkäripuukko is not designed to sit on a shelf for decoration, this is an honest tool made for hard work.

    I've had (and still have) a few high end, very expensive knives. This one is a quarter of the price or so, and can do everything just as good. I buyed this one and the Skrama 240, and i take just them out with me since i have them. Indestructible, holds an edge for a long time, and with a little care you get rid of the rust as well.

    This is my favorite knife with the 140 coming in a close second. Great steel (carbon 80crv2), comfortable handle and it just works for me. Back when I got mine it was $42.43 CAD (about $32 USD) and a few dollars shipping. I didn't get it with the sheath because back when I got it, they only had right-handed sheaths and I'm a lefty. The Skrama is the beast of the bunch. same steel, but it's a big knife, like a machete but thicker. (Blade length is almost 9 1/2") All the Terävä blades are made to last and even at the prices now, still fit in the budget category for what they are.

    @@RagingOatmeal they raised the prices in the last 3 or 4 years. I've had mine for a long time. The only place I know of is their website. I'm pretty sure they don't sell it anywhere else. I got it without a sheath because back then they didn't have a left handed sheath for it, which drops the price. Shipping used to be $14 to Canada for your whole order, no matter how many items you ordered. when I bought my 110, I also bought the 140 and the skrama, plus 4 or 5 other items to save on shipping, so shipping worked out to be $2 or less per item. When I bought mine, I got kydex sheaths made, cost me about $60 each shipped from the states to Canada so, the knife was a great deal, but the sheaths kinda negated that deal.

  • @RagingOatmeal

    @RagingOatmeal

    @@RagingOatmeal for the skrama I just use the plastic sleeve it comes with and put the sleeve in an open bottom MOLLE nylon scabbard I found on ebay. If I was to buy them today, I'd go with the boltaron sheaths. I like leather and it's cheaper, but kydex is much easier to deal with. no real maintenance, just rinse it out and wipe it down. For the price, even where the price is now, these knives are a great deal. 80CRV2 is great steel. pretty much indestructible. Dutch bushcraft knives shot it with a 22, didn't barley leave a mark. Most blades they shot either chipped or broke altogether. imo these knives are worth $120 CAD plus shipping.

    PUPPY! All sticks are for Bruno. That knife has been on my list forever, love seeing it. From the sound of it, you think the 140mm would be a more useful length? I've got both of them and the 240mm on my wishlist, but only want to get it and one of the smaller ones, either 110 or 140mm, but not both. Measure twice, cut once, as they say. So, whichever would compliment the 240mm most I suppose.

    What’s better the 110 or the 140 ? I was thinking of getting the skrama and the 110. My thinking is the big chopper and the 110 for fine work. But then I wonder if the 85 is a better option. I already have a Garberg which I love. An I have a BPS adventurer. Maybe all I need is the skrama. Normally I would just buy all of them. But I’m putting together my van. My wife and I are going on a 1 to 2 year trip around every state park. So I’m trying to get the most useful. I usually don’t buy a knife unless it’s good at more then one thing. I’m a fisherman and camper I bow hunt but not so much. Anyones opinion would be very helpful? I’m interested in any ideas!

    Between the three, I think the 110 is the do it all knife.. 140 would be slightly better at chopping and splitting wood, and the 85 would be better at carving and slicing (thinner blade). If I can only choose one, i’ll take the 110. Shame that they don’t offer a cheap plastic sheath option for the 110 though.. If you have another knife for bigger tasks, the 85 would take care of the detail work better IMO..
