Bris Inflatable Boat Mods & DIY Boat Trailer
Ойын-сауық
So I show you the different modifications I made to a harbor freight 4 x 8 heavy duty trailer converting it to a boat trailer and the modifications I made to the Bris 15.4 inflatable boat itself to make it more fishing friendly. It is still a work in progress but maybe this would help someone out who is either not interested in a traditional boat or cannot afford a traditional boat to fish from and also have some great leisure time.

DJ BEACHKNG yes it will fit without the extension but the tubes will have no support for almost 4 feet. I just felt more comfortable not having it bounce so much and stress the transom. Basically the extension gave the transom a support beam.

Your boat is dressed out pretty sweet. We're going the same route with a West Marine SB370. We used a Harbor Freight trailer as well but it's set up to be a stake side or boat trailer. The bunks run the length of the trailer and are removable. We also installed bearing buddies on the axles. I see you went with benches instead of seats. Might do the same with ours. Looking for parts to install a helm unit. I like the LED nav lights, but if they don't have the right stamp our patrols don't react well to them. Thanks for showing off the mods. Lots of good ideas on a clean looking boat.

Mate I have literally the same setup - Black BRIS with the Bimini ( grey though). I have a Merc 25HP 2 Stroke. Installed a Whale Supersub bilge pump under floor. Also have a Simrad GO 9 XSE , and homemade 30ah Lithium battery box to run bilge, Simrad and also my live bait tank ( made from Dometic cooler with bilge/pump and switches. I also have a Renogy 170 Ah flexi solar panel paired to a Victron MPPT to charge the battery box, which the panel mounts to top of bimini. Fantastic boat for the money. Only thing I would like is a more robust underneath, with more abrasion protection.

I have a 14 ft inflatable boat and your video has given me some great ideas. With the boat being all the way up closer to the front end of the receiver hitch, do you have any issues when yo make turns, where the back your tow vehicle rubs against the boat? I would really like to know and it will help me to plan out better. Thanks for the video!
Great videos and you've basically convinced me that this is the boat for me. Here's the thing though, I've grown up on boats and have extensive experience with wood, fiberglass, and aluminum boats; however, now an Inflatable boat seems to be a necessity in my life so I very much appreciate your in depth videos. I am a little worried about your trailer setup as it seems like your weight distribution looks too far back. Maybe if you put your fuel and your motor up in the bow of the boat when it's on the trailer it will be enough to make it track nicely behind your car, but otherwise I think you'll get a lot of swaying. Anyway, cool boat and I think I'm going to follow your lead on this one.
@infiniteoutdooradventures2240
3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. When I had that set up I would transport the fuel and motor in the trunk of my car. With it not being a true boat trailer I just didn’t feel comfortable. Also considering I had a 4x8 trailer paired with a 15’4” boat there just wasn’t anymore room without adding and extension.
Do you have any videos of launching and pulling the boat back up to that trailer? I'm in the process of converting my old HF trailer to something like yours. thanks
Nice boat and setup. I would be careful with moving the boat too much behind the axle of the trailer as the trailer will be prone to fishtailing.
Nice boat how did you get the benches to stay flat on the boat did you drill holes in the aluminum foor?

I have the Saturn 14' SD430 - I was the same as you - very hesitant to fish from an inflatable - after doing some extensive research and actually pulling the trigger and getting it - DUDE it is awesome! Extremely stable - better than anything I've ever been in and very very durable! I fish from mine no problems, the hooks just bounce off the hard PVC, there's no real place to puncture it with these tiny hooks, I would recommend however getting the aluminum floor in it - makes for a much better place to stand and fish.
@dwightstewart7181
3 жыл бұрын
@G3RMZONE .. Inflatables are commonly used for search & rescue, military landing craft, and similar. They are extremely stable, and almost impossible to flip over. The multiple air chambers make them almost unsinkable. Of course, make sure you get a real inflatable boat (with multiple chambers), not a swimming pool toy. Most fish hooks are no going to pose a problem, but you can take precautions (keep hooks away from the boat, use a net when landing fish, etc). If a tiny hook did puncture one of the air chambers, it would take some time for that chamber to deflate, plenty of time for you to slap on a patch and pump it back up. Of course, carry a patch kit and air pump. Another advantage is how easily they cut through the water. A small motor (4-8hp) will get you going quite nicely. Even a trolling motor will offer speeds of roughly 4-5mph.
Great video. Thanks for making it. I bought a Saturn 14' and the same trailer to haul it. I noticed that you built the wooden frame with a board down the center of the trailer. Doesn't this get in the way of the keel? I am going to build a similar frame, and I would like to know your thoughts about this. Thanks again.

@roberturia1270

Pretty smart of you to deflate the keel. I started building a bunker system and it has proven to be a lot of work with the metal cutting and what not. It doesn't look like you carpeted every part of the wood frame though. I would be concerned with the friction of bare wood on the boat, over time. @@infiniteoutdooradventures2240

Scot-Free Thank you for watching the video yes they were quite a few problems with this particular model. Problems that I would consider significant especially if you do not have experience with inflatable boats. The cut of the boat was crooked which in turn made it extremely difficult to put the floor in also the floor rivets were falling apart straight out of the box the drain plug had a leak which was the least of my problems but considering how much the boat cost I think that is unacceptable.
