Harbor Freight Boat Trailer Mod
This is a video of the trailer I did a custom modification on for my inflatable pontoon boat. This trailer was built strictly for freshwater usage. For the base of the trailer, I used the Haul - Master 1090 lb. Capacity 40-1/2 in x 48 in Utility Trailer Sold by Harbor Freight. I haul it around with my 12 foot Bris BRS360 inflatable raft, with a Hangkai 18HP 2 stroke outboard motor. I do not have any sponsors for this video, but below is listed links to 3 resources that I used to build my trailer.

@sslcfc Thanks!
This looks great! Thanks for the inspiration. What type and gauge of metal did you use for the extra support bracket?

@emanedoc Thank you for the complement. I used 3/16 inch steel tube. I think it was a bit of over kill for that section.
Really cool! Have you considered the Ironton aluminum trailer as well?

@lk Lam I have but for me steel was easier to work with and I will only be using it in fresh water.
Is your tongue extension only held on by bolts or is welded? Also where did you purchase the extension beam?

@just516in It is all bolted. I purchased the beam from a place called Metal supermarket, I put the link in the description of the video.
Hi, would like to ask, know if its possible to somehow add a second axle to these? If you are putting weight on them then at some point someone might think that they might want extra support. And can you add extra length to the trailer also to make it longer, safely or extend the length from the pull neck area safely with welding?

@noahriding5780 The original trailer I purchased as a total of 60 inches long I believe. I added a tongue extension. You could add a second axle if you wanted to, but the axle for this trailer is kind of light weight to begin with it is rated for a little over 1000 LB. If you need to haul more weight I would just suggest using a different base trailer.

@@everydayguy.5580 Thank you very much for your reply. I'm thinking someone could wel reinforcement to the metal frame though if they did this. ... Happy Sunday!
Does it bounce a lot on the highway?
@everydayguy.5580
Жыл бұрын
@Martin Harris The first time I used it I did not have a transom saver so I put my outboard in my trunk. I noticed a fair amount of bounce as I drove down the highway. When I got my transom saver and drove with my outboard mounted on the boat I noticed the bounce was significantly decreased. Over all the bounce is not bad at all. I have 2” square tube that is 3/16 thick so it is a very ridged peace of steel. That being said, I have been considering adding some reinforcing to that lone stretch on the tongue of the trailer.
Where did you find the tongue extension?

I fabricated it from a 2"x2" square tube.

DID THE 2X2 TUBING JUST FIT DIRECTLY IN THE OLD TUNG OR WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO DO?
