Bring Lime into your Building
Lime is an age old binder which was used as a construction material worldwide before it was replaced by cement in the 1950s. At Aanandaa, we chose to build our #sustainablehouse with lime as the primary binder material along with rammed earth and stone.
In this video series, we are partnering with Malvika Mehta, Founder of MLIME BUILD LLP, on understanding lime as a binder, it's properties, ways to include it in your building, and its pros and cons vis a vis cement.
The closed loop of lime's lifecycle is why it is sustainable, recyclable, low energy and more relevant than ever before. Companies like MLIME, and people like Malvika are helping house builders adopt this material with standardised products, on site training and theoretical know how.

Glad it was helpful!
These videos have been inspiring and informative, to a point. What would be a good follow-up would be a video illustrating WHICH types of lime were used in each application. In Europe and the UK we are supplied with several grades of NHL limes, putty, unslaked (hot) lime, each being more applicable to a function than the others.

You will find that detail in the individual process and application focused videos in the same playlist
I am using lime sand plaster for cement brick work house. I am confused about ceilings. What should be constituents for lime putty in rcc ceilings? Also what about wall joins where lime plaster meets with cement sand plaster (my kitchen & bathrooms are cement plastered while rest of area is lime plaster)?
Very useful series and informative... Two subjects that will help ... Cost comparison....and maintainability
