Brian Cox endures extreme G's - Wonders of the Universe w Brian Cox - BBC
Ойын-сауық
To celebrate World Space Week we're uploading clips from Wonders of the Universe with Professor Brian Cox. Brian takes a face distorting trip in a centrifuge to explain how it is that gravity achieves its great power. Starting with the gravity on Neptune, Jupiter and then off to the extreme gravity of newly discovered Exoplanets.
Having explored the wonders of the solar system, Professor Brian Cox steps boldly on to an even bigger stage - the universe. Who are we? Where do we come from? For thousands of years humanity has turned to religion and myth for answers to these enduring questions. But in this series, Brian presents a different set of answers - answers provided by science.

Hmmm 5 G aye ! Thats 250 mph; escape velocity for a rocket going to space is 25,000 mph which is 100 G, so if those guys can bear 100G and Cox cant even bear 5G, that makes him a wimp who wont be booking any of Richard Branstons space tours, i mean even Tim Peak managed to play a game on his smart phone while traveling at 100G. Or maybe they just dont put people in rockets ..

Gotta love all the little things scientists do to additionally educate us and that they show us such interesting things. Kudos.
Hahaha he went from Brian Cox to a dribbling gremlin very fast 😂
So I'm guessing Steve Tyler spent a lot of time in one of these?

He’s actually really resilient to high g’s. Normally people have to do some sort of breathing techniques at 5g

"You looked a little different" A LITTLE?
A little mistake at 0:57. Jupiter has 1300 times larger _volume_ than Earth, but because of its much lower density the _mass_ is only 318 times that of Earth.

I hope the Professor didn’t have lunch before the test.... 😁
Just when you are in that kind of swing with 5 g the pressure increases. A little bit raise in temperature. Looses control of heat beat. Breathing difficulty. Etc.
Things Can Only Get Droopy.
Watch Brian Cox age 50 years before your very eyes...
so.. at 5g anyone can look like steve tyler? or is that just brian
Anthoine hubert the f2 driver who died last year in a head on collision experienced 90g of deceleration
This is a very astute statement backed up. of course, with an emphatic curse!! Thanks Helo, for your enlightening comment.
Regardless of what you think of Tom Cruise, but whilst filming / training for Top Gun he was supposedly reaching 9 G's whilst flying the jets. Now put that into perspective 😂
Sustaining 5G with no straining exercises and little experience is quite an impressive tolerance.
They messed up his name in the title and no one noticed??
Remind me never to get stoned with him.
3:14 Brian Cox opened the Ark of the Covenant!
Watching Brian go round and round was making me feel sick Thumbs up if you felt the same 👍
the more you spin the older you get :D
my question is, does the spinning make him feel bad or is it the force of the gravity and if we can simulate higher gravitational acceleration on earth from a spinning apparatus, does that mean you would feel dizzy on another planet due to higher gravity? or does higher gravity feel the same as being spun around on a merry go round?
i watch watch all hes films :)
You don’t know g’s until your a veteran on the gravitron
Plus they wear special suits that inflate to put pressure on the body, particularly the legs, so they don't black out. The body can put up with some crazy things. -Maine-
Christ! He aged years right on camera.
reminds me of that scene from moonraker with roger moore.....roger goes in one of these spinny things
3:12 slyvester stallone
Jain sir fam 🔥🔥🔥🔥
with 5Gs he looks like Mick Jagger
He aged like20 years!
0:40 Like after doing arms at the gym.
Two reasons: they train their bodies and minds for years to be able to put up with it, and they only have to put up with exceptionally high G forces for a few seconds at a time.
That thumbnail, lol
Dang!
Turned his ass into a kisser fish. Haha
Ohhh my. Dude got sucked into hisself. I thought he was gonna pop. Dude on moniter knew his shit. Dude was like " ok thats enough, shut shit down"
Since there is no gravity, it's a stupid question as to which is heavier than the feather or the bowling ball
Absolutely no problem for Vegeta, Prince of All Saiyans
His wig stayed on quite nicely there. Hi Cox, thanks for the help buddy ;)
I'm so curious as to what actually makes his appearance change? It's like his skin shrinks and wrinkles. What causes this exactly?

valentass88 David Purley crashed in 1977, his car going from 107 mph to 0 in only 66 cm. He survived a deceleration of 178g. In 2003, Kenny Bräck's car locked wheels with another and flew into the catch fencing, braking apart. This is the highest recorded g-force at 214 g.
