In all seriousness this is a dangerous way to play a character that is doomed to a tragedy. TBH I was expecting much worse for Kendall's character. But when you become a character and method act a character who is essentially (SEASON 4 FINALE SPOILER DO NOT READ ON) Kendall's death...what does that do for the actor. Look at someone like Heath Ledger who method acted the Joker. Actors have to actually feel something in order to cry during a sad scene, to feel rage to be angry enough to have that vein popping out their forehead in a fight scene, etc. That also means you also have to be able to go to a dark enough place to play tragic/evil character...but can you actually get yourself out of it?

It's called "method" because it's their method to get into the role. If it works, it works. Some actors have to FEEL like their characters to get literally every aspect of the role on point. You find with actors who don't "method" tend to mold the role to their acting or natural charm (Leonardo DiCaprio for example) whereas Method actors mold themselves for the role.

But frankly, so many actors have gone too far in their method acting, and they have recieved nothing but praise for it. Same should be the treatment for Strong... The issue here is the fact that some actors, mainly American actors to be blunt, cannot seem to perform unless they "live" the part and go method. British actors have different training and even Michael Douglas said this, he said Brits have superior training as actors and consequently can conjure up great performances without trying to go "method". I agree with Brian here, its a really crude way to perform if you have to live the part and can also be incredibly damaging to the actor in the long run.

Webseries sometimes has 3 or 4 equally strong candidates for great performances and nominations. Just finished it and cannot help but recount that SUCCESSION had too many equally great performers. And Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfadyen were beyond comparison! The idea of bracketing (or the desire to bracket) actors as "lead" and "supporting" seems to cloud our judgement and also that of award-givers a lot. Just my 2 cents.

As someone who has worked on set with a method actor for six months (and another for six weeks) it can be a very exhausting experience to be around for everyone, not just the method actor in question. When there are bad vibes on set it just makes the whole experience at work suck the life out of you. So I can understand why people make these comments. While of course the performance is very important and we all will do what we can do to support the actors… I’m not going to lie there can be a little resentment at how much harder it can be to work with method actors compared to classical actors. I’m lucky though my first method show was a comedy so the actor in question was generally very lovely. The other was more dramatic and so yes days this method actor was working were more stressful.

I like Jeremy & he’s obviously hella talented (will be seeing him on Broadway soon), but I find his stans extremely annoying. They are typically incapable of praising him without insulting the other cast members. And after watching, reading and listening to several interviews with them, it is not a mystery as to why the other cast members were never as close with him as they were with each other. Stans shouldn’t be insulting them for not mentioning him in their awards speeches. Not implying anything nefarious about him, but he does appear to be both shy and socially awkward in real life. I sympathize with that dearly, as that isn’t often something that someone can fix on their own

@@Shinobi33 my point is that imo it was never pure comedy, starting from the S01, but S02 and S03 have even more dramatic tones. It still makes you laughing but knowing entire serie so far I cannot more disagree with your initial statement that "it's a comedy".

They're killing off Kendall mostly due to the cast and crew getting tired of his method acting approach. I don't understand it but if it works for him, it works. I'd like to see Kendall come up on top but in Kendall form, he's going to crash and burn.
