I've heard people joke that Wambsgans has ruined Mr. Darcy for them. For me, Wamsbsgans makes Mr. Darcy that much more impressive. What a thrilling actor to watch. Thank you for this terrific interview.

Two of the cast members who aren’t Americans play Americans (Brian Cox’s character is from Scotland originally). The rest of the primary players are from the US. So “most” is misleading. But yes, Matthew Macfadyen and Sarah Snook are incredible.

I agree with sarah, brian cox has such a cinematographic face, it's very expressive and it can tell the expression without words and brian pulls it off magically, i can't even imagine a different actor in logan's role other than brian, top notch casting

Ali Plumb is one of the very few film critics who actually knows well the shows/films he discusses in his interviews. He really “gets” the subject and doesn’t just spew the standard boring questions a lot of other critics/interviewers ask of actors. Ali brings us into how the show/film is in today’s culture. His research and production team is just the best. Love how the tone of his interviews create a joy filled experience to watch.

He starts with the biggest cliche in the world (When did you think this show might be a hit?”). He’s a fuckin tool and a total disgrace to be there as a reporter for BBC. His questions are ultra generic and praising him for being prepared is also ridiculous as it should be the bare minimum when you interview such actors.

Shiv's accent is actually pretty noticeable once you know she's not American, especially when she speaks quickly. Tom however has a strange slightly effeminate intonation that helps cover his accent.
I have to say knowing him as Tom first and then realizing in real time that he played mr Darcy elicited the funniest “TOM WAMBSGAMS?????” Reaction so never diminished him

By the way, Wambsgans is a real german surname... funny reading about its meaning/history... "The name comes from the Middle Ages. In the Middle Ages, the free farmers had a complete jacket with sleeves as a status symbol, formerly known as a doublet (=Wams). The whole (=ganz) doublet identified the wearer as a free peasant. So he was a "whole doublet" (=Wamsganz). During the Reformation, some split off as Lutherans. To distinguish them from those who remained Catholics, they called themselves Wambsganß (instead of Wamsganz)"
Matthew MacFadyen (Tom) could be Bond. He really could.
