    Hi, great videos. Do you still dose just put ~20g into grinder for each shot rather than keeping hopper topped up full?

  • @CoffeeWiser

    Actually, I don't anymore because when the tamp fan didn't detect enough pressure to complete the tamp, it would just keep spinning and then I would have to manually stop it, ending up with an inconsistent tamp and a bad shot. That happened frequently because the doses I normally get with a half full hopper are often just above 20g (20.1, 20.2 etc), but not exactly 20g. If your tamp fan is calibrated for around 20g and you put 20.5g or 21g, it should work fine. Then you end up with minimal left overs in your hopper. But if you put any amount that the tamp fan think is too low, it will just keep spinning... and I think it never completes the tamp.

    To warm portafilter and coffee cup I run a brew through an empty portafilter into my cup for about 8secs. This warms the portafilter and cup.

    Have you tested the weight of the ground coffee when the hopper is full of beans and compared it to when the container is just about empty?

  • @CoffeeWiser

    @CoffeeWiser

    3 жыл бұрын

    That is an excellent suggestion! I haven't specifically done that. Th only potential issue is that the grinder chute and tamp fan retains a good bit of grounds. Sometimes those grounds, specially the accumulation on the tamp fan, will fall off. This could skew the results. Maybe I will try to clean the tamp fan and grinder chute after each grind to get a more accurate measurement of dose when the hopper is full and when the hopper is empty.

    Hi man, you still around? I just bought a Sage Oracle Touch. I'm a total newbie, should I use the 2 cup filter basekt at all time or the 1 cup filter basket? Sorry if dumb question.

    No dumb questions? Use the double basket (the big one). The small one makes consistent shots very difficult.

    Because there is only 4" clearance for a mug when pulling espresso, what is your opinions on transferring espresso to a larger mug when making a latte? Do you have any recommendations on the best way to transfer espresso keeping everything hot?

  • @CoffeeWiser

    @CoffeeWiser

    I personally use this: amzn.to/2LGKawe I use it a few times per week to transfer the espresso to a travel mug so I can drink my latte on the road. To keep everything hot, I also heat up the shot glass with hot water from the machine's hot water spout before brewing. Then I move it right away to the travel mug, I add the steamed milk, and seal it. It works well. I hope this helps!
