    Honestly, I disliked Bret when I was younger. Mostly cuz my sisters gushed over him probably. But, as an adult I've got a lot of respect. For him as a wrestler and as a man. Looking back his matches were seriously top tier and I was just too young to appreciate them

    he's not the greatest by a long shot. he destroyed a the entire circuitry of the local wrestling business. they used to run towns weekly, now he can't go to even a big city more than twice a year because the product is so bad i'd say@@thelettern

    Guys who make it to the top never speak out against the system they had to face cause they think it's not fair for the next generation to not deal with what they had to go through. Bret is the only top guy honest enough to point out that even Amazon workers get better rights than a pro wrestler.

    I Remember The First Tough Enough and I was sent a so called contract and they said in the paperwork that if I wasn't chosen for Tough Enough that They could take my name and likeness and use it for other Wrestlers so I said no I wasn't going to sigh over that to anyone else so they can make money from my likeness or my name oh yeah the WWE was something else back then.....

    Bischoff was just giving out ridiculous amounts of money out to all these wrestlers. Bret really was no different. He was going to be making more than what he was in WWF and what he would be able to make if he was to stay in WWF. One of the big reasons WCW went under too.

    Yes…most of the WCW roster had guaranteed money… …as it was stipulated in their contracts. Not a personal hand-out from Bischoff.

    It was far more precarious for WWE. They nearly went under and were at risk during the 90s especially when WCW overtook them. Vince could have gone bankrupt. Brett wouldn't have.

    ​@@ChadPlainview_remember that WWF was financially unable to afford such a long and expensive contract at the time; this was all before the Attitude Era took off in earnest. That's why he rescinded the offer and encouraged a move to WCW for the best offer on the table.

    ​@@gothfather8741 Vince COULD of actually afforded Brets contract. Although in mod 1997, Titan Sports took out a loan to cover the costs of talent, Hogan was in talks with Vince to return to WWF on a sizeable contract. Just months later, Tyson was under contract for only a few mths.

    Why is Bret complaining about the contracts? As Scott Hall mentioned, and with Bret's comments here about everything becoming the "Shawn Michaels Show", he only wanted to be champion, didn't care how much he was being paid, and didn't care for the others or to try to get better deals, he only cared about being champion and being "the best". That's why they called Bret "the $400k champion".

    I've heard enough people say, Bret was never a Money Man, he was happy being a 400k a year Champion in the WWF and no one at the time was paid more in WWF than Bret, WCW was giving out contracts over half a million, If Bret had stayed with WWF, no one would have made any money. I've heard that from Scott Hall
