I think he is giving HHH way too much credit. The guy wasn't with Steph yet, & while Shawn had pull due to his relationship with the Kliq, they were gone, & it was basically HBK - who was screwing up left & right all the time politicking by himself. Now it's POSSIBLE that HHH - was always the smart one - & that's the reason why he is where he is today, & due to being the sober one, acted as "The Voice" of HBK & a liaison. Perhaps Bret isn't conveying that very well or it's cut off due to this not being the full interview. I can definitely see where he is coming from & imo Bret Hart is the original CM Punk. A straight guy that always gets screwed because he doesn't want to play ball the way everyone else does. I'm very much like that myself IRL - I've LITERALLY sued my employers & gotten fired because I refused to commit crimes or "fall in line" the way they did. I've won settlements etc but at the end of the day - I'm also considered "A problem person" & more alone because of it & there are careers I can't go back to because of that as well. I think it takes one to know one. So I'm always very happy when I see a Bret Hart, a Punk etc come out on top. Imagine waiting as long as they have to be proven right? I'm still waiting for my day to come. I think I'm close. I still have a very big enemy I have to get rid of. They are an inspiration to me in that regard.

I don’t get the love for H, I’d literally rather have Bret Hart as COO or Chairman or whatever. H is too predictable and clichè in charge, and I’m just sick of him. Overall, I think when it comes to the screwjob, in hindsight, it really was the best ending for both parties - that being Bret and Vince. We all know Bret didn't actually tap out and therefore, he never really was defeated for that Championship. Then of course, we know hes not going to appear on any other WWE programming from that point on, so the entire wrestling fan base and industry are going to be highly anticipating his debut on Nitro. I used to think Brett was spoiled and cried too much until the company got tired of it but now i know thats the case. He was just jealous other wrestler's were making just as much money as he was. He would say he helped call the shots with Vince then later said hbk and hhh did and the whole company wanted to take him down. Brett just wouldn't let the belt go under any circumstances. I believe he said he wouldn't wrestle if he knew he wasn't gonna win against hbk that night. That's bullshit. He was a great wrestler and a great character on the mic but his head got too big for his shoulders. If he did what he was supposed to do during the hbk match, he wouldn't of went to WCW and got kicked in the head. He would have stayed with WWF making millions more and kept building his legacy 💯 it's a shame.

The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be...at whining. Bret was a relic from the old wrestling days that couldn't adapt to the Attitude era. He thinks he was the best, but he wasn't even the best in his own family. Owen was more athletic, had more charisma, and was just as good at wrestling. Bret will never understand Montreal went down the way it had to because anything else was bad for business. He had to drop the belt that night.

Bret only speaks the truth. HHH and HBK are absolute manipulators. Just like Vince. It's heartbreaking to hear Bulldog getting screwed. It was sad to see Owen totally wasted after Bret left. 1997 was the best year in WWF history, and the Hart Foundation was a huge reason why. It would have been a far better story to have seen Austin go through the Foundation, eventually going over Bret at WM 14. 1998, and 1999 could have been used as a chance to have the Rock, Shamrock, Edge, Christian, Angle all work with the Foundation. The illusion of wrestling would have been maintained. Maybe Bulldog gets a few more years. Maybe Owen is still alive. And maybe more modern day fans would understand that the guys from Stampede ( Dynamite, Davey Boy, Bret, Anvil, etc) built alot of the WWF and are far more relevant than someone like an HBK or HHH.

Only thing is, Bret was reportedly very much against the attitude era which Shawn & HHH pushed for. WWF was getting clobbered by WCW, I think WWF did what they had to do and wouldn't have won the Monday night wars without it. Absolutely Owen would still be alive today if Bret hadn't left. Owen was getting buried because neither Shawn or HHH wanted to work with him so he was relegated to the mid card. (I can understand why Austin wouldnt want to work with him after the piledriver gone wrong) Bret would have stood up for Owen and even if he didn't succeed in getting him out of the mid card, he definitely would have talked him and management out of that stupid stunt. The sad thing is maybe Bulldog might have lived if he hadn't have gone to WCW, he was starting to get control of his drug & roid use, but injured his back in WCW because they didn't tell anyone about a trap door that was set up in the ring and he hit it. It lead to him relapsing. But hard to say, he had so many demons the damage may have already been done.

He mentioned in his book also, there was a night in 97 where HHH was booking RAW, he scheduled Bret to win the IC title from the Rock. Bret went to Vince and Vince overruled HHH with Bret having convinced him that the Rock was a future star and needed to keep the belt. So Rock retained by DQ. HHH & HBK were always trying to bury him cause they knew he was a threat to their spotlight.

Are you serious? HHH didn't get where he was by kissing anyone's ass. He was literally set to win the initial 1996 King of the Ring but was punished due to being a participant in the MSG Curtain Call, accepting the punishment got him respect then during 97. DX literally put him on the map.Taker never kissed anyone's ass.

I know this is older but the fact that Bret even past this hasn’t made amends with Triple H is a shame! I know they both get along in a professional sense and can coexist to the extent of stuff like the Hall of Fame and being in the same room together. But Triple H has grown so much as a human!! And especially now with how the company is and how it’s run, it’d be an atmosphere I think Bret would love and one where I think they’d work well together in. And Triple H has seemed to want to give Bret his props!! He even made sure to give him a special moment at Clash at the Castle and let the fans acknowledge him and appreciate him! And on Most Wanted Treasures he wanted to make sure to get Bret Hart pieces to commemorate him! I guarantee Triple H would LOVE to work with Bret!! And having Bret as a backstage producer or coach or agent for talent would help the product continue to hit new levels!!

Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, let's take a closer look at all 3 of them. One is actually running the company he built his legacy in and giving back to the business. One of them is at NXT sharing his knowledge and experience and training new generations of wrestlers so he's given back to the business and the other is doing interviews going "me, me, me, everything is all about me and I hate this person and that person and does nothing but trash and complain about everyone even after he's already excepted their apologies? Doesn't give back to business either. Nobody ever thinks about the fact that Shawn and Bret had hundreds of matches together and every single time Bret won clean. Nobody thinks about all the times Shawn put Bret over and made him look good. Bret's only happy when Bret's getting his own way he's such a narcissist. The one time when Shawn was getting the win Bret had an issue with it. Everyone forgets that detail.

The bulldog HBK match was ridiculous tho…I didn’t have a problem with Shawn winning but the hart foundation looked like chumps…DX ganging up on bulldog and the Harts don’t show up until the match was over. At least, show a shot of something blocking the harts dressing room or something to make it logical (somewhat)
