I remember watching Dynamite Kid in his prime on stampede wrestling in the 80’s (Tiger Mask not withstanding) I’ve never seen anyone like him. He could literally fly. Good things come in small packages.

I remember a friend sending me a tape of a bunch of Dynamite Kid and Tigermask matches from the early 80s, and being absolutely blown away by it It didn't feel like I was watching wrestling from the early 80s, it felt like I was watching something lightyears ahead of it's time. It felt like something that could have been shown on TV in the mid 2000s and nobody would have known any better if it weren't for the video quality. It almost feels like an understatement to call Dynamite Kid a trendsetter, because that fast but hard hitting Jr Heavyweight style is basically ubiquitous in the mainstream these days.

I had the fortune of seeing Dynamite in the Corral (Stampede wrestling's home base) during his early years.....the guy was lightyears ahead of most of the roster, and as Bret said, he woke up the matches with his high flying moves. Stampede was rocking in those 1977-82 years.

Say what you will, but I still remember the first wrestling show I saw on TV - I was 5years old. Two guys made me go “Wow, this wrestling stuff is awesome!” 😮 They were The Blue Blazer & Dynamite Kid. I also remember thinking “Wow, this Hulk Hogan dude sucks” 😆 Spends 90% of the match getting beat..then wins

Can't remember the first time seeing The British Bulldogs, but I knew of them when watching WM2 on my brothers B&W 20cm (8in) TV. My dad was British, so I inherently cheered for them!! I never saw Dynamite as the little guy as his moves were immense. It's crazy how good his Stampede & Japan matches still are even now that 40+ years have past.

Tommys wrestling, was rooted in catch as catch can, trainred initially by my Mothers uncle, Ted Betley and aunty Edna Millman, who had their own ring in their back garden ram-shackle shed just nearly opposite the back of the beautiful Wnwick church in Warrington U.K. From all accounts, Uncle Ted, then took him into Wigan, to the Snake pit, where the coal miners had been wrestling after a full day on the pit face, for decades, since the late 1800's, for the price of a pint of beer. When men were men and women, cooked and cleaned - no offence intended ladies - the men could not have done what they did without a young lady to keep him in check .

Dynamite was constantly taking steroids and not a natural. Roid rage and all that he went through it to stay on top. He was athletic but steroids was what he was built on. He had to take roids due to his size and roid rage is a side affect.
