@@markperry2827 I actually agree with you in that sense 100%.. I’m more referring to his mindset on values and etc… If you watch the doc on his situation with Shawn Michaels.. He hated everything HBK stood for.. Even though Bret cheated on his wife with Sunny.. Bret portrayed the image of an “honorable” guy with morals… This is why he almost completely failed in the attitude era after a while… Stone Cold, HBK, The Rock and more guys knew how to draw on the “immorality” of fans. Bret couldn’t do that… He was self-centered and pretty possessive over the outcome of matches. He also didnt play the locker room game the best way he could…

And that's one more reason why the WWF let Bret walk. The guy didn't wanna change with the times. Everyone else played ball. And the "Attitude Era" is seen by most fans as the best era in history. Bret was no more a degenerate than HBK. HBK never hid his lifestyle, and his character in wrestling resembled his personal life at the time. Shawn even called Bret out about it, and how big of hypocrite he was. Brett has his own "Sunny Days" on the road.

Most of Bret's feelings about these topics I was already aware of anyway, but I'll listen to Bret shoot on the business any day of the week and enjoy it. WCW was a mess they had no management if u werent close with Hogan and that lil clique u werent getting over. Nash didnt like Bret and at time they were strapping a rocket to Goldbergs back so wasnt much room for some of the Vets coming in. Most time they just added them to the long drawn out NWO thing where theyd keep adding members and have them talk for an hour to fill TV time. If theyd of had any kind of management structure there WCW would probably still be around.

Bret's biggest mistake was moving to wcw. Wwe had great plans for him. He would had done great and very well as austin's rival on attitude era. The hart foundation was a huge great heel group that could had rivaled the nwo. but when bret decided to move to wcw, wcw wrecked him. Wcw can't really give him a decent role compared to what roles he could had if he didn't left wwe. Then, came the time when goldberg the crappiest wrestler known for not being good on taking care on what he does. Goldberg ruined the great career that bret had. Bret returning to wwe, when wcw hadn't given him any decent role in wcw, would had been massive and possibly avoided what goldberg did to him...

When people called him bitter & angry, even roasting Bret over it, I always asked myself: how can you possibly blame someone being bitter after losing (almost) everything the person loved? Not just liked but loved? It never got into my brain how even other wrestlers and officials or even fans were roasting Bret over it. Bret Hart lost SO many things he loved from the bottom of his heart, from Owen to Wrestling to everything than went with it, and people laughed about him being bitter all these years. My perception of Bret Hart is nothing but having absolute respect for him. He burried hatches with Shawn and Vince McMahon and behaved so superior despite all these bad things that happened to him, only to finally find peace for himself. That's ... that's just wow! So much respect for that! He IS truly one of the 10 greatest and best wrestlers to ever step a foot into a ring and, I guess, a great person in life!

His anger is still there. It's not right to blame Goldberg for his career ending nor should he make comments like Goldberg could have given him some money from his 3 million dollar deal overseas. This interview sounded like a giant pitty party for himself. Brett knew the risks of potential injury everytime he stepped into that ring more than any other wrestler at that time because he seen it up close and personal with Owen. I equate his wrestling career ending to you or I losing our jobs and having to start over. It happens everyday to normal people who usually have no savings while he had millions and still does, but they get through it. It's called life. You can't tell me that Brett Hart has nothing else to bring to the table of a new career. I just have no respect for a man who goes on national TV and cries poor me, I lost this, I lost that, it's their fault, he didn't call me right away, he could have taken a little something from that 3 million dollar deal overseas and given it to me (entitlement much), wah wah wah. I respected him as a wrestler, but not anymore as a grown man. I do fully understand what he went through because I lost the best career of my life due to injury, and I moved forward and to this day have never blamed anyone else, claimed that the world owes me. He is still bitter and very angry.

@@Reality852 As someone who's been through shit, you should have more compassion for those who have been through shit as well. Instead, you go the other way and get selfish, basically saying "I suffered in my life and didn't complain, so Bret Hart Shouldn't" or "He made a lot of money. He should be happy." You think denying yourself of feeling what you need to feel about the things you've lost in your life, is somehow noble and that everybody should be doing. That's your mistake. You are allowed to feel whatever way you want about your life because you are the one living it. Making the sacrifices for it. Working your ass off for it. If there is anything in this world you can feel whatever you want about, and nobody could tell you otherwise, it is your own life. You earned that right. Likewise Bret Hart is allowed to feel what he feels about his life. He worked his ass off for it and sacrificed for it. He's the who will continue to be living with the absence of his brother, his health and his career; circumstances he didn't choose these things. It doesn't matter how long it's been. He's the one in it. You and many others just dismiss him as bitter and angry and expect him to get over it just because of your own personal reasons. It's got nothing to do with him.

@@1986Unlimited It’s not that I don’t have compassion or empathize for Brett, it’s just been decades since his incident. Compassion and empathy only lasts for so long. He is still living in the past which is keeping him from fully living in the present. Brett was worth millions when he medically retired and is worth more even today. How entitled is he to say Goldberg should have given him some money from his 3 million dollar deal overseas. He wasn’t hurting for money, so what difference would that have made what so ever? You Calum can’t deny that’s wrong of Brett to do that. If Brett felt Goldberg owed him money, he should have sued him in court. You miss quoted me drastically. Let's discuss his so called feelings that you emphasized about so much. Feelings aren't a right like you claim. Feelings are natural reactions we have as individuals within ourselves that help us decipher things in life that allow us to know if it's good, bad, right, wrong, pain, anguish, happy sad etc. in which then we may use insight to make good decisions and/or become better people if we choose. His feelings are his own, and feelings don't do anything for anyone else or anything else in this world except for the individual alone who feels them. I did empathize for him, many years ago when it happened. His situation was sad. Here comes the harsh part... Life isn't fair, it never will be. I'm sure he knows this. Life isn't about how hard you can hit, or be hit. Life is about getting hit, to continue to get hit and to keep getting up and moving forward because life will beat you down if you let it. My original statement is he is wrong to say Goldberg owes him. Goldberg doesn't owe him anything. He made the choice to get in that ring knowing the risks. He knew the risks more than any other wrestler in that day and age because of his first hand experience with Owen. He should be mad at no one but himself. He chose to get in that ring. He chose not to sue the company or Goldberg. Crying about your life on national TV isn't a right. Claiming the world owes you isn't a right and it’s wrong. I hear people say he overcame all of this. No he hasn’t, he is still very angry about it as it obviously shows in this video. The fact that he still crying about it decades later is sad and pathetic in my opinion. You stated that Brett will continue to live without his brother, his health and his career by circumstances he didn’t choose. You are absolutely right. I just want to say he would have lost those 3 things eventually in life regardless of circumstances as well you and I will too one day. This is life, life has risks, life isn't fair, life can be very cruel. The point about this is to accept these facts early and mentally prepare, then find it within yourself to be thankful for what you do have. My advice to you is expect the worst and hope for the best while always remembering that tomorrow is never a guarantee. What I find funny is how you lectured me about Brett Harts feelings are his right and no one should tell him otherwise. Your entire reply comment is extremely and overwhelmingly hypocritical because you are telling me I should feel more compassionate and accusing me of being selfish at the same time saying people should feel what ever they feel without being told otherwise which is exactly what you are doing. What happened to my so-called "right” to feel whatever I feel without others telling me otherwise? I have intelligent advice for you. Think before you speak, really think about the message you want to relay to another; then be as detailed as possible to ensure the right message is delivered and understood. You said I feel noble about denying feelings for things I’ve lost in life. I don’t feel noble about it. I’m just not going to continue to let something I've lost and isn't in my life anymore while I have no control over the situation have power over me and wear me down. I accept life for what it is and find new ways to be happy. It’s a great life skill called adaptation. I have also learned another great life skill called gratitude, which is too find praise and appreciation for the things I do have in life and I'm some cases don't have anymore. I would have never met my wife who is the woman of my dreams if I didn't lose my career/dream job injury. When it happened, I was angry and chose to move forward in life and be happy again. Then eventually I met the woman of my dreams who I eventually married and realized that day I lost my dream career was a blessing in disguise. You said I dismiss him for my own personal reasons. You’re wrong. I dismiss him because he is weak and pathetic. He used to be strong, ambitious, someone to respect and look up too. He lost his way. Brett Hart was a great wrestler, a wrestling legend, but now he’s just a greedy, whiney, pathetic excuse of a man crying that the world owes him when he has more than 95 percent of the world. I don’t respect weak. I don’t respect whiney, I can’t and I won't. That's why I dismiss him.

Supposably according to google take it for what you will Bret Hart is worth 14 million dollars that's more money than the average person will ever see in their lifetime. I believe you should make as much money as you can as a professional wrestler and then get out of the business. You say the wrestling business never gave anything back to Bret Harte. I'll look and give him a lifestyle it's up to the competitor. Just like they say in the UFC a lot of Fighters complain they have nothing left when they retire. Well if you're making $50,000 per fight you work three times a year that's $150,000 it's not up to WWE or the UFC or the NFL. And make you save your money they say the average NFL players broke within 3 years of retirement you know the reason why they're living in multimillion-dollar homes and have multi million dollars worth of cars. If you were like LeBron James living in a 4-bedroom 3-bath house that's 3000 square feet and your mortgage was 1200 bucks and you are driving a Honda Accord then of course you're going to have a ton of money left over. Are you going to think about it these guys are driving Land Rovers Ferraris Porsches living in 12 bedroom homes it's their fault they have nothing to show for it when they retire it's the same thing with you working tonight to 5 job if you never save money or invest you be broke when you retire

Cheated? As much as it is considered a legendary heel promo... Vince was right. Bret screwed Bret. He wants to talk about integrity but the reality of the situation is he was more or less holding the promoter's belt ransom. If the promoter wants you to fucking lose the belt on your way out then fucking do what he wants because it is his company. The real world equivalent to what he did would be if your employer sent you to the bank with a deposit. Thing is, you don't like the bank that they use because of its location and a previous situation with one of its employees. So you demand that they switch banks or you are not making the deposit. If you were to do that, your ass would be sitting in a jail cell. Bret is so far removed from reality that this logic would be lost on him. Sure, Shawn may have been a shithead & Bret might be a "Canadian Hero" but if that's who & where the owner of the company wants to go with then you do your fucking job. The only thing I agree with here is that WCW had no idea what they were doing... They put the World title on his ungrateful ass twice and the US title an additional four times. Seeing how bitter he is at them nowadays, he shouldn't have even got that.

@@TheShadowBrigade You're not exactly wrong but there is a pretty solid difference. When you have an arrangement with your company it should be honored on "both" sides. The bigger issue here is although Bret did refuse to do business, Bret's boss didn't do his job as a boss. Instead the boss played along with the shenanigans as if he too were a part of it. It would be like in your bank scenario in which your employer acknowledges your refusal to make the deposit, but then instead of taking the appropriate disciplinary action as an employer would, they instead send another employee to fight you and take the deposit back which adds to the drama. Which is exactly what happened here. If this was about following procedures then the company should have also followed its own procedure instead of validating what it's employee did by playing along. That's even less professional than what the employee did. The other thing is Bret said he would have dropped it but Shawn being Shawn, Bret said fk him basically. Their boss said his piece but then said to Bret ok and instead plotted and schemed a way around that refusal. Don't employers terminate employees for issues with workplace ethics? If Vince wasn't ok with it then Vince shouldn't have left it up to the employees to figure it out. What employer leaves it up to its employees to dispute over how to handle a bank deposit?

@@joshuaa1605 I think you’re right and I think also it may be because those type of fans are authoritarian SJW types. In other words they take Vince’s side on the whole Montreal Screwjob issue and consider Bret wrong and to be a whiner because in their tiny authoritarian minds you always have to listen to and follow your bosses orders and do what’s best for your boss no matter what. In anycase what these little turds seem to always conveniently overlook or forget is that Bret had a real world and not kayfabe creative control of his character contract which Vince violated via moving forward with the screwjob which in other words means Bret could’ve sued Vince/WWE into the ground and won big money had he chose to do so because he not Vince was legally in the right. Most likely Bret ultimately chose not to sue as one day he probably hoped to secure and preserve his pro wrestling legacy via having positive DVD’s and Blu Ray discs of his career released to the public over time by Vince/WWE but which would be a next to impossible thing to have happen once you’re blacklisted which suing Vince and winning very bigly would likely provoke. That and despite all of Bret’s righteous anger at WWE he likely still didn’t want to hurt the business by suing WWE and winning big as this could hurt many of the guy’s and their careers who supported Bret and made it harder for the WWE to function in general since it takes an enormous amount of money to keep a global wrestling promotion like that open. Lastly whatever other character and personality flaws Bret freely lists about himself in his book which these authoritarian fans have likely never read so he’s not exactly hiding any deep dark secrets about himself. He tells us he was a bad husband who cheated on Julie his first wife and that Owen was a far more loyal man to his own wife Martha than Bret ever himself was to his and Bret also admits to doing hard drugs with Roddy Piper and the boys on the road likely for the same reason most wrestlers give for doing them which is to combat the physical pain of the job as well it’s often to combat loneliness and boredom.

He also says that Vader warned him about Vince's intention to make him look bad in his final WWE match --- yet, Bret decided to go into the match as the World Champion and "leave" with the title? Hello! Vince was not going to allow another Alundra Blayze-type incident to scathe his company immediately after Survivor Series '97 -- especially at the height of the Monday Night Wars. Bret Hart had to be out of his mind to think that he had any "chance in hell" of leaving that arena in Montreal with the WWE title.

Bret Hart had a hole in the back of his neck and his doctor said the back of his head felt like "hamburger." You do NOT get those injuries from being kicked in the face. Goldberg gave Bret a concussion, but the sum of Bret's pre-existing injuries led to his doctor telling him his career was over. Bret, and the internet, just want to blame Goldberg. Goldberg was unsafe and was too green for the push he had, but he didn't end Bret's career. It seems like he likes to blame other people for his problems. Who knows how much longer Bret's career would have been if he had taken time off and healed. Hell, after that Goldberg match Bret wrestled NINE more times and had matches involving weapons.

You do make a good point but in 1997 to about 2001 the face of world championship wrestling was Hulk Hogan sting and Goldberg in the NWO even Ric Flair and The Four Horsemen were really big at that time. Even though Bret the Hitman Hart was one hell of a star when I came to wrestling he was more of a star and the early 90s you win the Attitude Era of the WWE happen he kind of fizzled out. Because in those days but like 1997 to 2001 people love Stone Cold Steve Austin Triple H and D-Generation X and Bret the Hitman Hart his character wasn't resonating I don't think with the crowd like it was an early 90s when he would go and give his sunglasses to a kid. I would say the early 90s Bret Hart was one of the biggest stars to ever compete. But we will always say these guys are worth millions of dollars it's up to them what they do with their money and if they're not financially fit after they retire that's their problem for living a luxury lifestyle you can make millions of dollars every year. And live like you make 40,000 and you will always have money that's what the most rich people say they do

Anyone who isn't I believe they joined the wrestling world around 97 and never really got to watch the excellence of execution. Because it's impossible not to respect this man's legendary career.

@The fuckeroos and so will pretty much every single wrestler that ever lived.. tell me hogan, flair, savage, Shawn etc weren't marks for themselves lol they all are. If you're not and u dont think ur the best then u shouldn't be in the wrestling business

I hate knowing the truth about my childhood heroes. I just have so much praise and respect. They do this and go through all of this for us, man. We really do have to do better as a fan base. This makes me think of all the hate comments I see on their (wrestlers) social media. We don’t know what they’re going through, man. And they’re out there for us.
