The sad thing is that Brenda will never know that Dylan was part of the "conspiracy". Okay, he didn't really have a choice. But he could have spoken honestly to Brenda about it. “My accounts are going to be blocked, your parents want me to convince you to go to Paris. Go ahead, it’s a good compromise, it will do us all good.” Dylan saw his advantage in the story: he couldn't stand daily life as a couple. Which is very understandable, but having hidden this manipulation from Brenda is a major mistake. For me, the end of their story is there even before the betrayal with Kelly.

great points. The writers were putting their relationship on the rocks early in Season 3 so people would blame Brenda and not Kelly for the betrayal. Brenda became the whiny girlfriend. Dylan, their friends all acted like it was not big deal. It was deliberate on the writers part.

It's not even sad. Dylan was tired of Brenda and family drama. They weren't getting along living together. He wanted a break.

My fondest memory of going to Paris is when I went with my wife and we went to the beach. I wore a stylish leopard speedo and she wore a stylish leopard bikini. Everyone thought we both looked pretty

Jim ultimately got what he wanted in the end. He sent Brenda to Paris and then Dylan got involved with Kelly while she was gone. I think he knew Dylan wouldn’t be able to stay faithful to Brenda the whole summer she was gone, and that would break them up, which is why he agreed with Cindy’s idea. When I first saw this episode I was ten so I didn’t realize how manipulative, conniving and controlling Jim was.
