Breathless: History of a Pandemic (with David Quammen)

Ғылым және технология

As a demonstration of the correctness of the chaos theory, the flapping of the wings of a bat in a cave in southern China can indeed cause mourning in Times Square. The Covid-19 pandemic has so far caused over six and a half million deaths worldwide: the famous Big One, described in almost prophetic terms by David Quammen himself in Spillover, has knocked on our doors, but we were not prepared. And if the creation of vaccines has reduced the room for manoeuvre of the virus, we will probably have to live forever with SARS-cov-2, in a «low-intensity» war. Retracing the history of Covid-19 is not only an opportunity to celebrate an immense collective effort - scientific, political, but above all human - it is also necessary if we want to understand what went wrong and why, and prepare to better deal with the next spillover.
David Quammen essayist and scientific popularizer dialogues with Giorgio Gori Mayor of Bergamo and Agnese Collino COSI - Organizational Committee Science Innovation Association of BergamoScienza.
