Breathe In! Arriving At Bakewell Camping And Caravanning Club Site

We travel from Castleton Caravan And Motorhome Club Site to Bakewell Camping And Caravanning Club Site. We take care on the very narrow approach road to the Bakewell site and follow the Club's recommended route. Bakewell CCC Site is a lovely quiet site located near the small village of Youlgrave (or Youlgreave) in Derbyshire. We went for a bit of a rest and to enjoy the peace and quiet of this very rural site.

Oh wow, what a trek. We visited Youlgrave whilst staying in Chelmorton at Far Ditch CL site, so easily accessible and close to Ashbourne, Bakewell, Buxton. On a road between the 515 and A6. Super place and great hosts. The whole area is amazing, particularly if the weather is nice. Being a Kiwi, born in Buxton I have may relatives in Buxton, and Bakewell. I just love the whole area. We had many caravan breaks in our four visits. Thank you for the memories

The villages are very pretty around that area and the views very nice too. I love all the stone brickwork on the houses. All the time I was hoping another vehicle wasn't going to come from the other direction whilst you navigated that narrow road. On the other hand I think it was worth it because the site looked so spacious and peaceful when you did eventually get there. It's a place I think I could easily stay at for a while, just to enjoy the tranquillity and beautiful scenery.

Oh my goodness, you went past the lane we live on. Wish I'd known, I would have come out to wave lol.😂 So strange, but wonderful to see you traveling the roads I use most days. Some of these lanes certainly test your metal don't they? Especially in a motorhome. 👍 Makes you wonder how they get the caravans there, we've had a the odd tight spot sometimes in our car when we've come face to face with a tractor on some lanes. Well done to Jenny on the editing. Also, if you ever get the chance in the future, Haddon Hall is a must for history lovers. I was hoping I was going to see film of it, 😊 I loved the last one in the cave.

Bob this brought back memories of driving my American 4x4 with a twin axle down this lane. My Irish setter had never seen anything get so close to his domain in the back. He was not happy. First time I’ve seen a Camping and Caravanning site with no grey waste disposal points. They was told to dump it in the hedge ? I bet it’s a bit smelly on that site.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo Oh, apparently then, I bet it’s because they don’t want their tanks to fill up too quickly as it sounds like they are not on main drainage.

If you walk back towards the village and cross the little river you can walk left and into Bradford Dale it’s lovely up there. You can walk up into Youlgreave from there it’s a bit steep up to the village but not as difficult as the road you came down. Three pubs in the village and a couple of shops. There is a bus service back to Bakewell though I’m not sure of the frequency. There’s an Aldi in Bakewell that has a reasonable car park if you need provisions. Haha I wrote this before I got to the end of your video

The nearest touring site to Bakewell is probably Greenhills. It’s a private site between Bakewell and Ashford and is walkable to both. Seems to be popular. If you need any local info just ask

Your sat nag took you a strange route to Bakewell. You could have gone straight on at Calver crossroads. Unfortunately we have an issue with travellers as you may have noticed that’s why there are height barriers and fences. They broke the height barriers anyway hence the open barrier. There are some dedicated motorhome spaces behind the agricultural centre but the car park has been taken over by COVID testing. Youlgreave is an absolute pain even in a car, buses occasionally get stuck there. You’re a braver man than me I wouldn’t take my van down there an I’ve lived in Bakewell for 60 years
