Good review, I swear I can remember this getting a US Physical release as the box art was different. It was definitely planned, possibly I read a review and saw a mockup box in Gamestop. This was also planned for the Game Park 32 but never came to fruition.

Capcom never explained why they didn't bring it out in the US. I always found it so bizarre since it was released in Europe, which is why I imported it way back when.

This was my introduction to the series. Absolutely loved it back in the day. Storyline was quite good and gameplay was addicting. I really need to revisit the PSP version. I remember being so disappointed with BoF IV for some reason.

Yeah me too. Because it's a no brainer to localize for North America on UMD if Europe got it. Even the digital version should've been easy to release. It's like Capcom USA forgot about it or something.

what a coincidence haha I bought this game today its on sale on the US PSN Store for $4.99 and BOF IV for $1.19 :) .. great review sir..

guys i need help. I want you to tell me how exactly Trainers work, if i skip a trainer, can i find him later on? or if i learn a skill from a trainer, can i delete it and learn another?

one of the best RPGs of all times, and i hunt for RPGs from all platforms.

Fantastic rpg! Great graphics, fantastic soundtrack, imaginative story and so many memorable moments!

So many good memories with this one. I think it was my 4th or 5th RPG so I was still discovering the genre. I've been wanting to replay it for years now but I'm afraid it wouldn't be as good as I remember it... especially challenge-wise. When I replayed FFVII and Wild Arms years after my original playthroughs, I realized they were actually extremely easy (even without grinding) and only seemed tough back when I first played them because I wasn't used to this type of games yet.

a huge flaw with many rpgs is that they have no harder modes for those who want a challenge. i recently got into the legend of heroes trails in the sky series on psp and it became one of my favorite rpg series ever. one of the best things about it is that there's a hard mode and a nightmare mode so you get plenty of challenge. i really wish all rpgs had this, like you, ff7 was ruined for me last time i played it because i wasn't even at risk of dying once the entire game. it's a great game but could have been so much better if they just added some hard modes.

This game was NOT released it was ported to PSP... Also they didn't need translation because it was already translated in 1998 for PS1... Idk why they hold the English port for a year.

Don’t know either I’m sure the fishing mini game wouldn’t have taken long to translate. I do know why SOA didn’t bring it over and it was some stupid tule they had about older games being ported needed to have so much more extra content to be considered and it was fucking dumb eventually they dropped that practice but the psps time came and went. Thank god Fry’s had the European copy of this and Tails of Eternia in stock.

Amazing game. The PSP has bilinear filtering for the textures (so it looks smoother than the PS1 original), however, it has horrendous loading times. Even when enabling fast-load cache in the PSP 3000, it remains bad. I would recommend to stick with the PS1 which looks crispy and loads faster. Believe me each and every battle will load, its not a "loading initial level" thing, its a "loading every battle scene"...thing. I love the characters, graphics, lore, everything. Great review man.

With psp homebrew, i wonder how much loading would be helped by setting the cpu/gpu to it's highest setting. It really helps with loading in other games that run the cpu/gpu underclocked.

It would probably help. However I only game in original hardware so I tend to select the best performing physical version available, in this case the PS1 CD. I also have the PSP version but could not stand the loading. The box art is BEAUTIFUL so it wasn't a waste.

the digital psp version is obviously the way to go, guy, get a grip - owning physical psp games is laughable, just play it on the vita. i question whether some of you actually like video games or are just compulsive collectors preferring an inferior umd over an obviously superior digital copy on your vita. please don't give me the "i just like having the physical..." like yeah i understand this for ~most~ platforms but for the psp it''s problematic as hell, borderline asinine. the psp version of BOF 3 is superior to the ps1's in almost every way.

It all depends on the game really. I heard load times were bad on Lunar Silver Star Harmony, so I got the digital version. The loading was a few seconds, not too bad. My PSP 3000 also had homebrew on it. I just wonder if both factors could help Breath of Fire III (PSP).

the msters system isnt kind of broken? i mean, what if u decide to learn under a master at lvl 70? then u dont get all the altered stats you would get if u were to learn under him/her at lvl 1. am i right? i just want to understand how exactly masters work. thx in advance.

ProductHuman you could learn from them at 70 if you really wanted too. But lower levels is best because some skills have a requirement before you can learn them. Like say you are level 7 and want to learn the first skill of a master, usually for the first skill you have to go from 7 to 9 or something to get it. To learn the proceeding skills after that the amount of levels may vary from 2-3-4 or more levels to get them.

i bought a vita just to play this game and realized that it wasnt available for download in the u.s

Go for it. It's only available digitally, as are a few other games. You can check the North American PlayStation Store online to see which games are currently available.

Great game ,great story, great fighting system. Imo dont waste time on bf 2, bf 4 is easy but not as good as the 3rd.

Yeah but the way phones are now it is A lot of PSP games actually run better authority including the one you're doing right now breath of fire 3 runs better on the cell phone no need times practically none existed on a Galaxy S8 plus which is what my phone is I have the best of the portable world a breath of Fire 1 and 2 and 3 1 and 2 GBA The 3rd game PSP all 3 are on myself I ran them through an emulator and they play very well the considering what they did to the 1st 2 games makes me wish they had threes graphics the 1st 2 games I wish he would do that when they put him at a switch is a trilogy and HD remastered breath of fire 1 and 2 GBA versions with breath of fire 3 graphics in the trilogy collection in HD remastered along with 3PSP version with HD graphics in the perfect breath of fire switch HD remastered trilogy for the nintendo switch Which those type of games are more popular in the world Of nintendo than they are anywhere else since the series originally did start on a nintendo system Even in the world of nintendo Sega CD and playstation one lunar silver star and eternal blue CD and complete and legend and harmony would be the perfect lunar Legacy collection HD remastered cut scenes in a full 16.9 ratio for the Cut scenes and gameplay would be a nice touch it would still be the same games as they were before but think about it this way they look a whole Nicer But still play in likely to seeing games but with better graphics but without losing any of their attributes they originally had it means this Sega CD lunar silver star and eternal Blue Would still be the same as that they were on the CD system in HD They wouldn't lose any of their virginal animated scenes or gameplay experience they discussed nicer version of the same verge of what they looked like originally the same thing for the playstation one versions and GBA version and PSP version and When it comes to the PSP version would be nice as they updated it to be as beautiful as super Mario alsie with the 2D and 3-D graphics in lunar silver star harmony PSP game and look great with super Mario Odyssey graphics In new voice actors cause the voice actors in that game had no fire in their belly like the ones from PS1 did they had more fire in their belly on that 1 the complete versions 1 and 2 lunar PS1 voice Actor said more fire in their belly even the voice Actor for Alex at the very beginning of the game you could tell the voice Actor really enjoys playing this character but when it comes to Harmony Teenage Ben 10 voice Actor for Alex he doesn't sound very thrilled about his character he sounded more like let's just do these lines to get it over with I'm bored The dialog is so weak in hermony in aloud times the voice actors some like they're bored like did it want to play these characters like they were forced to Plus by remaking the game graphics it gives them a chance to fix the words of the screen so there on the screen better and a lot of words don't get cut off at miss some letters because the words of the screen were sloppily done in some senators this way they can fix it and make them look as they system playstation one message blacks in on the screen so it's done better And a little change in the dialog the harmony might make the game somewhere exciting not to picture the playstation one dialog but enough of it to make hermony some more exciting And new voice actors for hermony Ones I could truly bring the characters to life like the voice actors did in the playstation one versions in also some more excited when they play their characters and fit the proper voice of how the character should sound considering the way the character looks in the game so it has the proper voice to it Plus the words they used in harmony in the way the game played and looked it look like an early nintendo 64 game instead of PSP game cause it looked more like something off the 64 also long with the dialog for the English voice actors that's how dated it in and can a pathetic it looked and sounded the same thing goes for the music it was just weak compared to playstation one it seemed more like a N64 game lunar silver star harmony It looked more like gamer 1st attempt at a 3-D game Nintendo 64 from the 1990s with dialog that sounds like it's out The 1980s Saturday morning cartoon dialog when it comes to lunar silver star harmony feels like Saturday morning dialog voice acting on nintendo 64 That's a launch title that's kind of how bed it is and that's way I'm not thrilled with the game in that way think game needs to be upgraded in appearance and voice acting
