Ben's got the memory of an elephant. The only things I remember from his last class are the jokes. And those don't help my chess over the board since one isn't allowed to talk there. "- Were you here for the last class? - I hoped this was the last class. I wanna go home to my piano lessons. Putting my finger pieces on white white black white black."
“I like making queens” the video I watched before this one he made 8 queens to top off at 9. He likes making queens
Thanks Ben and everyone else that helps with these videos. I love watching them.
Whoever mentioned monitizing videos, I agree. It's well deserved in all honesty. Do it, Ben, and I will move my king up in the endgame.

at 16:33, hxg isn't only a blunder because black queens in time, but because it's met by Kc5 and black wins.
Yess! Go Karen! You're the best!
*sees new upload, heart starts racing* ben. BEN. BeEeEEeEeen!
Thanks ben
In a position where all of the black pawns are on 4th row and the black king is on e5 vs Queen on d1 and the white king on e1, it depends whose turn it is that wins!
I can think of someone position without analysing at all where pawns beat a queen just put them on the 6th and have it be pawn guys move and pawn guy will either win or draw almost all of those games especially if the king is near the pawns
Come for the chess. Stay for the jokes! Always take bandages when playing Ben across the board.

When analyzing the position in 28:15 when you say that Kd4 is not a threat. I agree, and there is not a threat with a3 either because of finding c3. In that position, one move wins, one draws and one loses. After a3. b3 loses. Kd4 and white wins all of black pawns. bxa3 draws bxa3 and white has the outside past pawn as decoy: Kf7 Kd4, Kg6, Kxc4, Kxg5, Kb4, Kf6, Kxa4, Ke7, Kb5, Kd7, Kb6, Kc8, Ka7 and Black gets just in time to avoid white queening, but barely. c3 wins for black. If bxc3, bxa3 and white king is outside the square of the queening pawn. If axb4 cxb2 and the pawn queens If Kd3 cxb2 Kc2 bxa3 and black wins. Only drawing method for white is starting with Kd2 and then go for a3 and enter the drawing line from above one tempo down, as Black king will already be starting from f7.

25:54 What do you mean, c3 wins? Can't white just bring in their king? Kd3. Then if c2 king takes; if x b2 then Kc2 and king takes next turn. Black's pawns don't stand a chance. Or do they?
@LioLemur
3 жыл бұрын
Also if you don't take and go b3 as white, axb3 but then you take axb3 and now if black goes c2 you go kd2 so c3 does not win
@Dimipc
2 жыл бұрын
C3 does win. After cxb2, the king cant capture the pawn because you can protect it with a3. Now, if the white king goes away from the pawn, it promotes and if it stays there the black king can capture the pawn on g5 and the deal with the other pawns.
@Dimipc
2 жыл бұрын
@@LioLemur But c2 is protected by the b3 pawn so you can just take on g5 with the black king and if the white king tries to capture on b3, you promote

Yeah it was too easy... I found out. Maybe more than 8 pawns though...
At 24:40 I dint think black pawn to c3 wins . Kd3, black takes b2, Kc2 , black b1 promotes and king takes . Am I wrong?
@Sphere723
5 жыл бұрын
No, you wouldn't promote. You'd take your king over and capture the g-pawn and put the white king in a bit of Wang-Chung as there's nothing he can do with it and it's his only moveable piece. Stroll the black king over to a4. After b3 white is screwed. As Ben says it'll take 15 moves, but you'll force a promotion.
@52gt
5 жыл бұрын
@@Sphere723 I wore that before he realized it was not winning. At 25:24 he realizes I am right.
@RyanJObermeyer
5 жыл бұрын
@@52gt No, there he's realizing that 1...b3 doesn't win. You said 1...c3 doesn't win, but it does. In your analysis, instead of b1=Q, black just plays a3, protecting the b2 pawn, and black has time to take the g pawn and then come over to the queenside to help his pawn promote.
28:27 Is it me not being good at english or did Ben made that repeat his "yes" answer just so that he speaks properly to him? (Like Ben's way of being old-school maybe)
41:12 black should play c4
But b3 axb3 cxb3 a3 kd2 or kd4 a2 and the king can't go to b1 B3 WINS
Stupid question-- what happens if the KING captures the rook? Is that not a draw? Please help. Thanks!
@thedancingveganatheist6310

Nevermind. After king takes knight, the other king has a move, so it's not stalemate. Got it.
@52gt
5 жыл бұрын
@@thedancingveganatheist6310 No , not a stalemate but why would black move away instead of taking white rook on a8? As you say white king takes black Kn? Is that a win for white, if so how? It seems to me Ra8 is the only winning move ONLY if black screws up. I do get the move by black of Kb7. Any help appreciated.

@@52gt Two things. First of all, I saw that I was wrong haha, so I'm sorry about that. I noted it in my reply to myself. Secondly, I might have been unclear in my question. Either way, I had been trying to see if there could be a forced stalemate, but then I realized there is no forced stalemate. Oyvay.

@Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Atlanta. The last one is a puzzle, and you can know it by asking you a simple question. If it's white's turn, that means black played something in the previous turn. ¿What is the move that black made to get that position without being a bad move? Enigma solved by me.

Netflix produced a fictional movie about the cold war during a chess world championship match. One of the players was really crazy (also he was an alcoholic). However, the end of the first match they made it look as the crazy one blundered (he played black) and no one in the crowd is understanding whats happening, but the position on the board was that last puzzle.
