    Thank you so much for this!! We have the same skin type (oily, sensitive) but i'm also acne prone and i'm only 14.. I started trying the ordinary products because of all the hype it's receiving. I've been using them for 1-2 months now and my skin has NEVER looked this TERRIBLE. I used to have just mild acne (because i didn't really have a skincare routine lol) but now i have moderate acne and my skin just feels irritated all the time.. I feel like i wasted so much time and money trying out those products (specially because i use the allowance i get from my school since i'm a scholar plus the ordinary products in our country cost 3x the price!) I'll definitely try a more simple skincare routine with just the basics and my go-to products. I finally figured out that my skin is not purging and it's really breaking out.

    For acne suffers this situation can be fairly common when starting out a new skincare product which is why you should test out a product on a small part of your face first for 14 days to see if the product is right for you. But more importantly, to really weed out any confusion between a product that may cause purging versus acne/irritation, look for actives. If the product contains actives like retin A or its derivatives like adapalene, BHAs like salicylic acid, AHAs, or vitamin C, chances are it’s more likely a purge which will resolve on its own over time with consistent use. But if it doesn’t contain any of those ingredients, then it’s not purging; it’s a breakout and it will not resolve over time so stop use. There are times when a product can have an active and an ingredient that your skin can’t tolerate, so studying your breakout as you’ve shown in your video can help decide. Following these steps should take out most of the guess work though. Hope this helps!

I've never had acne on my face before so I freaked out LOL I'm doing a cleanser , toner , serum vitamin c , e serum an eye cream and then moisturizer. Keep in mind I have never even washed my face before and im now 28. They are small sometimes itches in the area but doesn't hurt. I almost stopped completely washing my face but realized it is purging and glad I came across your video to see the difference.

    I purged for a few weeks when I first started using The Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid Toning Solution. I used to wake up to tiny little white heads. Mostly on my forehead. Most of the time I was able to just wipe them off with a tissue. The Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid Toning Solution is fantastic for getting rid of adult acne. Over 12 months later, I'm still using it. And my skin has been acne free from I'd say two weeks after I started using it.

  • @spydula1

    @spydula1

    @@adapv9584 Hey! To see if it is the cause of this reaction, I definitely think it's worth a shot to stop using Niacinamide in your case. The Ordinary's Niacinamide solution is 10%; however, the model shown to improve skin in research is 4%. Since Niacinamide in lower percentages is a common ingredient in moisturizers, I'd pursue a cream that has Niacinamide already in it if you wanted to continue application again. CeraVe's PM moisturizer contains Niacinamide and would be my recommendation :)

    I think its breakout. Cause basically cetaphil didn't contain any active ingredient. Therefore keep using it for 1 month and see if there's any differences or u skin getting worst

    I'm confused about my skin, because people are saying if the product has active ingredients, then it's most likely a purge. However, I've been using active ingredients on my skin for about 3 months now and only just started to break out like crazy. (Been using The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, and the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution). My skin was glowing and the acne scars I had were fading but now it's like all my progress is being reversed? I could use some help lol, thank you!

    nighttmuse I had almost the exact same problem. I started using Cerave, and the Ordinary. My skin was looking a lot better and I have just suddenly began to breakout, and it’s really frustrating and I don’t know what to do.

    Maddie Z I suggest taking a break from the Ordinary products! As soon as I stopped 3 days ago I haven’t seen any new breakouts. From reading online it seems sometimes we can be using too much of the product, and our skin breaks out from it. I hope things get better!

    @@nargizhajiyeva3111 Hi, I stopped the ordinary products I was using, re-evaluated and then implanted some different ones into my routine very slowly. I am currently only using the 1% retinol every other night and the hyaluronic acid every morning with cerave wash and moisturizer. Taking it slow and limiting the amount of products has definitely helped stop the breakouts and improve the quality of my skin. I hope this helps! 😊

    Same here...I think its purge for me bc my skin looks better overall if I were to pretend the bumps weren't there. They are like whiteheads but not pop-able, just look like bumps. I think they will go away on their own if I keep going. Hopefully!

    So I started a serum with vitamin C to lighten my acne scars (my skin condition is similar to yours except that as I got older my skin became a little bit drier), my face got itchy, red and pimples (small not cystic) popped out on my neck, chin and forehead (haven’t had anything there for over 10 years !!!). I contemplated if that was purging but decided to stop using the product anyway, the moment I cleansed my face off the serum, everything went down visibly and now a couple of days after, my face has become clear again, neck pimples still there but are dry and dying thankfully! I still don’t know if it’s purging though and whether the product is good or bad !?!
